So excellent. I'll be 50 this year and I remember when I discovered Stereolab in the early 90's in college in Chicago. Saw them three times. In my top three all time favorite bands. RIP Mary Hansen.
Mary your Australia's greatest export, your music will remain 'pour toujours (super-cool.') I will hold a flag for you in my heart...it is a crime you are no longer with us. (This upload reminded me of the gig at the Electric Ballroom, with Kenickie, now 20 years ago)
@@stereofidelic67 - You may well be right. I'll ask her when she's back from tour, ha ha! (I know Laetitia) I wasn't being sarcastic though - I do actually LOVE tambourine and use it most of my 'now' recordings. It's such a great sound! It's certainly not as easy to master as most assume, too! To keep one repetitive rhythm-pattern exact for minutes on end isn't as simple most think. The same goes for the triangle. In fact, triangle is harder than tambourine in regards to precision and tone! 🙂
How about The Pale Saints, Lush, Stone Roses, Chapterhouse, My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Spacemen 3 (the prelude to spirtualized) and then Britpop came along and destroyed British underground music forever and ever.
Agreed This groove has an undulating, slinky, subtle magnetism that is aimed squarely at the hips. It allows the Can-influenced mechanisms to percolate through the body. I remember when they toured ETK and, you could see the audience members taking the cold soul funk into themselves...starting with the hips. Genius.
Great footage. Very cool stuff. Thanks for posting. Too bad that bomb dropping whistle on MU was a lil too pronounced. I found it distracting. Amazing song

How good were Stereolab!
Mary Therese Hansen - Always with us!
Freaking Great!
Underapreciated.
They still are! What's left of them and still touring. Saw them last year in Madrid

This is GOLDEN!
The entire old lab was influential to me. Katherine Tim latetia Mary. God bless all!!
Never be the same
Righteous tambourine mastery!
:-)
she'd not long progressed from playing the triangle.

@@NOWtheband I'm a drummer. Nailing it to the 8th or 16th notes and keeping time is a real skill. :)
@@stereofidelic67 - I know (the skill it takes, that is, not that you're a drummer: That I didn't know)
Right on!
🙂
beautiful groop
I still miss her R.I.P Mary it's been too long
Crazy, sturdy, a torpedo.....
How lucky were Brits in the 90s... imagine seeing that, then the next week Spiritualized, then Pulp, Verve... etc
