And also for the Amiga 500 owners, remove the 512k trapdoor ram expansion ASAP! Thats where the clock battery's located.. You can resolder a new battery later...
The top two things to do for game compatibility is to pop in an 8372A Agnus chip if you don't already have one in there and add in the extra 512K in the trap door. That's what most devs were looking for back in the day. As long as you take good care of your diskettes, you can keep on using them. ADF2Disk is a pretty slick little utility so re-writing to them is a snap. Oh, and a second diskette drive, assuming you aren't going the Gotek route. The rest is just icing on the cake.
Got my old CRT TV/VHS combo placed behind my bed room door and it ain't going no where. My Amiga 500 is on top of the closet and ready to use C= AMIGA 500
As an Amiga owner with more add-ons than I can shake a stick at... This guide is speaking the truth for playing games and pissing about:D only other thing is get a 512kb/1mb ram expansion in there. They only cost about £10-15 usually if you find a second hand one
That's a good point Chris, how did I forget that! Hopefully most 500 have got the 512k expansion. 500 plus owner got the 1MB and could upgrade to a further full 2MB.
@@MikeyGRetro even without all the flashy chip ram motherboard mods on the 500... It's nice just to have it makes some games play better ie less disk swaps :D
Great video. I just have one Gotek (that I share with other systems), a CRT TV and 512kb RAM expansion. I did not grow up with the Amiga. If I had more nostalgia for it maybe I would buy more stuff.
I have a nice video to scart cable for my A500, relatively cheap piece of kit found online. It works perfectly with my Trinitron TV and gives a really nice crisp image
lol thanks Chris but as you full well know it's emulation. If people watching have a real Amiga these are good valuable tips. Not saying what you setup isn't awesome. I got a Pi400 and been playing around with it.
Nice video Commodore Amiga for ever
Thanks! 😊

I got myself a C128 and a Amiga 500. I own 2 TV sets with scart input and everything is fine. I can dual display on the C128
Living in France, I have 3 ldc screens providing scart connectors. The one I'm using now is also capable of deinterlacing 640x512

For me using games on a usb....you may as well just fully emulate

That sounds like a good setup, and agree if you havn't got that nostalgia but you enjoying the system now for what it is that matters. :-)
Hi, what is your origination / accent from? Seems the same as Butcher's from The Boys, which I like a lot.

Old CRT TV's are also a fire hazard with the high voltage election cannon and accumulated dust over the years.
rpi400/Pimiga. - done.

@@MikeyGRetro yes which leaves more hardware for us!!!
Nothing compares real hardware
