Dodge Charger for sale & and a field of project cars! | Barn Find Hunter - Ep. 38

- They told him that he couldn't find any more cars in Midland, Texas. This week, Tom Cotter hits the oil country highways to prove them wrong. Drawn in by the rusty bones of an old Torino, Tom investigates the pickings of a fellow car guy, among which is a 1972 Dodge Charger housing a 318-cubic-inch engine that, after some gentle prodding, slowly coughs to life. Cold calls come next, and soon Tom visits a woman who proudly imparts the history behind each hollowed-out shell in her yard, from an engine-less 1957 Thunderbird drag car to a VW Beetle with a Ford V-8. Touring through her garden of drag metal and classic iron, Tom turns up a McLaren Mustang convertible, the body of a 1963 Econoline Van, and a half-restored 1977 Chevy Blazer, each with a story-and a price.

"you got an engine for it?"
"...
We got 25 motors"
"Ok"
Lol
its got a $5000 stereo in it!
Ranchero - nice model . There is one form 74 ( squire with wood on the sides ) for sale nearby where i live in Belgium . In very decent shape , all green + wood mixed colors and a 350 in it . Its only 15,000 $ - still for sale . If i had the bucks , i would have bought it long ago . I would mostly make a serious change in the cabin ( seats cover material / dash clusters / floor cover / etc... ) because its not a nice or exciting stock interior .
Tom, I really enjoyed this episode as it was laid back and natural. Very well done finding these barns and fields of dreams and the characters that own them. Super! Regards Stephen.
Oh wow, that's a memory, Sorry just paused it on the ford falcon futura... I own'd a 64 Falcon, 260 V8 two barrel with a three on the tree as my first car. Ate oil like it was going out of style. Pretty much stop, fill the oil and check the gas... BUT, she never left me stranded... Great car!
The lady with the falcon says...we have 25 motors!!!😂👀
I could have watched Susan all day, she was awesome
she's a gem! Tom, enjoy your vids- - - - thanks,df
Keep this show coming Hagerty!
Everyone Tom finds always seems so nice...I'm afraid if I pulled into someone's driveway and started walking around, I'd get shot
nah...I've done the same thing maybe 25 times so far. People with stuff just sitting like this love to show it off.
John Smith I'll report back when I try it one of these days, ha
just give it your best chance . I would suggest : Be awfully honest and clear about why u visit those guys . Once that is cleared for them , i beleive its pretty easy to discuss and share with those owners / offer bids or whatever . Life is worth taking little risks for which we need to be prepared .
You'll enjoy it. I've got some awesome deals on a few old cars because I was the first one to ask. I'm still looking for that certain AAR Cuda. My buddies dad had one up until two years ago. He bought it used in 1975 for 1500 dollars. Some people get all the luck lol
GETUP AND GO it makes it a lot easier when you’re with a tv show, I’d imagine people are a lot more willing to show off their stuff when you have cameras
That Charger was a 72, that was a steal, nice car
Hate it when people have better "junk" than my good stuff.
"We can skip the rat rod." Wtf? Probably the best 1 of the lady's bunch
"Do you really expect the motors to be in these things" lol Love this southern peach. lol
my heart flutter and i get teary eyed when the start and purr!
Love the show! Would like to have seen the Rat Rod at 8:16 also!!
lovely charger
I love how there was a silence and he says 'That winds picking up' lol
Damn she hung out with Mickey Thompson she must have some cool stories. I don't like how Mickey went down I always thought somebody should make a movie off him. But it's a sad story. Like always another great episode.
@@redrider7730 yeah its fucked up
I knew an old guy in Caldwell Texas who had a bunch of old cars on his place back in the 90's.. The one that always caught my eye was a mid 70's Cadillac El Camino he had just sitting in a pasture on his property.. I've no clue if the car is still there or even if the fellow who owned it is even still alive. But it would definitely be worth checking out if you're ever in that area..
Nothing beats my first 2 cars I bought for $200.00 a 65 cadillac calias coupe and a base model 69 Lincoln continental coupe cadillac fired up and drove away. Replaced the spark plugs on the Lincoln and scored big! Both are long gone, miss that Cadillac though in 2002 mind you!
The Mopar gear reduction starter a.k.a. "Highland Park Hummingbird." (Chrysler's location for many years).
McLaren is on Eight Mile Road in Livonia, MI, a northwest suburb of Detroit.
Only complaint is these are too short. I could look at those old cars for days
That’s at least a ‘72 charger judging by the side marker lights!
That West Texas accent is unmistakable!
I purchase a 1973 Ford Torino as my first car and I was wondering would those seats fit in it and any tips?
when the tires shine more than the paint, walk on bye
That falcon and the van please. 😏
Love the "little boy imitating toy car engine sound" soundbite here: 1:00.
I would've definitely gotten the Charger
Rattle snakes in the yard, can you believe that ? Lol
If you would post where you're going next, I could have taken you to where there are piles of MoPars, Pontiacs, and Fords here in Texas. Most complete running cars.
Love this show !!!!
i like the falcon..
Who does the music for this great show? Love it and the finds.
out in texas there are cars, just not that many, this dodge though is nice,
off to nother good start ford el camino but not a real one a 40's ford pick up and 57 t-bird port hole verson too and a hotrodded pontiac but with a cool 2 key system, you know just a vw bug drag car with a ford engine in it hay some british tin always good to see, 79' mgb last few years they were sold in the usa and a falcon, and to end on just a great chevy blazer 1st gen yep i'm liking taxes more and more
That a second gen K5 Blazer and Texas is full of cars. Fields of 'em.
how can the 57 fiberglass bird not if been a kit in the day
Keyboard warrior Hitman factory fiberglass, same as corvette.
I wish everyone could see my reaction when hagerty uploads a new video 😆
I have a blazer just like that
love it blown Camero shirt on old girl.>>
8:50 I want to see more about that 2 key anti theft system!
I need to take a trip to see that lady with all the cars with no engines and work something out, but I wouldn't have left without that Mopar
Would have liked to see that Falcon Ranchero, appeared to be a '63 factory V8 car. The Blazer is a great deal, the Misfits at Fired Up Garage just payed 8K for one in worse shape, if reality TV is to be believed. Love the '64 Falcon HT, I have a '64 Sprint HT in my back yard, in about the same shape.
Matt Farah's Million Mile Lexus.....a '64 Falcon Sprint? No way....that's runnin the 260 or 289? Either way it doesn't matter, it's a very nice ride regardless....
It was originally a 260/T-10 4spd, currently has a '64 Hipo 289 (an actual Hipo, though everyone says that) with a Toploader 4spd. It's been sitting a long time, it would run but I've never driven it. Plans are for a 331 roller stroker with a T-5 and a 9 inch with 3:50 gears - a nice quick driver, nothing crazy.
Yeah, cash for clunkers took a devastating toll .
It's got a $ 5000.00 stereo in it ! Hahahaha ! that precious
Nice cars
Really enjoy your shows very interesting
Esse canal podia ser pelo menos semanal. Gosto muito
LOVE TO WATCH THE VIDEO....BUT I HATE WHEN IT ENDS!
For that price ... am all over it .. it roars !
I sure would have liked to have that falcon.
Awesome thanks
Great show. Tom is a gent.
Does anyone know the success rate of making a sale of all these cars after they are featured?
Seems a great way to advertise
Is that 72 Charger still for Sale??
Lol! "They have a thing called yahoo" also what's with all the PT cruisers
Great video!
Tom you really should consider coming to Canada to find old classics
Jamie mullin
Mexico...
This guy must be trailering the woodie around.
No
This is what I would call "looks like a muscle car but not." The last of true muscle cars ended in between 70 - 71, depending on when the body changeover started. For Chrysler, this body started in 71, so this was not. While a few of these came with 383s, 400s and 440s and I think a few 71s may have had 426s, most of these had the the 318, 340 or 225 slant 6, with most getting the 318. While I think one of these with the big blocks is definitely worth looking into, one of these with a 318 is to me nothing special. This car while pretty good for 70s smogged down standards couldn't get out it's own way today, as a Honda Accord would knock it off in a drag race without even trying. This one at least had the buckets and console shift which was a nice option as far too many of these with the lower end engine only had the bench and column shifter. As a child of the 70s, I can tell you that a car like this would have been driven by a younger couple with no kids or perhaps a family with one or two kids but wanted to look cooler than driving around in a four door or a station wagon. The big block chargers of this era would have been the only ones that people oohed and ahhed about.
Imagine you running out of gas and leave your charger on the side of the road, and only to come back and it not be there. LMAO
How can we forward an offer tom?, lets get those cars to new homes!
Bless her heart “a thing called eBay and yahoo” 😆
1972 Charger there not a 70 the motor in the hot rod is a Ponyak
It sucks. I have the skills and will to build a car. I just don't have the money to buy one or a garage to build it in. It's hard enough to fix my daily driver in my driveway.
How bout the white '75 LTD?
I love you sir great job
the lady is cool
Great finds. Tom had no interest in the rat, but the camera man must have to get that B-Reel at the end like that.
Neat to see these old cars but I'm not a fan of the people who just butcher them apart and leave a million unfinished projects around. I'm sure the 25 motors they have all in the dirt and full of rain water.
How do I get into contact with the women about her vehicles for sale? I’m very interested in one
Is her old man still around?
TheDutyPaid he's somewhere with a phone, as she said she called him. Probably at work.
Russell Loyd 🤔 Jail
Yea, I thought about that too. She would always refer to him in the past tense. But Tom did say at the end, " I want to say goodbye to our friends, the Aubrys." so, me thinks he didn't want to be on camera. That's ok. I get that.
If I had 8k...
pretty sure that not the same mclaren as the england built cars. it is ASC McLaren... not the same
What's the point of showing these cars and say they are for sale when no contact details are given?, besides that, these episodes are filmed months before being uploaded. Great show otherwise.
Need you to hurry back...
"they have a thing called Ebay and Yahoo." Damn she lives far from Silicon Valley.
Where is the falcon?!
Same here my dream car especially the 64
Just build the 318 it will be a better engine then the 360
People want way too much money for scrap metal .
"Yah know theres this thing called EBay" ha!
Outro Song?
Why are you always in Texas? Boring! Go somewhere awesome like Montana or North Dakota. There aren't barns in snowy states?
Kenneth White....probably tryin to avoid filming cars being eaten up by rust would be my guess....
Branon Fontaine yeah I thought about that too...but if your show is called barn finds, you can't just be reserved to going to the easy States like Texas, New Mexico and Arizona to find cars. People in the northern States hide their cars away in weather time too. Lol
Branon Fontaine
The only ones that I've found up here that were really rotten.
Were usually wrecked and parted out
already.
But I've found some super low mileage cars and trucks up here in the snowbelt
Kenneth White the likelihood of Tom finding a parts car that would signal a find is slim up in the north. As someone who has lived in TX I can vouch that there are plenty of rare and awesome old cars left outside and the rust barely gets to them. Most families have an old car somewhere on their property
He went to northern Michigan a few episodes ago. My grandpa has about 7 cars in his pole barn Tom would love to see and he's down here near Detroit. I just don't want my grandpa to get any ideas about selling them :)))
At 9 or 10 thousand I wouldn’t be building a clone out of that 318 car. I’d find a roller for a third the money.
I always hate when I get to the end of the episode.
Lawrence Ross
Me too...then i watch it again...😎
Hey Lawrence, I have an idea. Buy that Charger. The end of a 1/4 mile and the episode will give you the same feeling a 318 in it. Sadly. :) Ouch.
There is no way i would of left without the mopar...that was a killer deal
Oh yes Man . That charger for less than 10,000 is a steal . Put a crater engine or a solid old 388 / 440 ( if the mounts fit ) and there u go /a check the suspensions /drive train ( i would put a new set of suspension + breaks of course ) . Solid body , nice original color .
Oh hell yeah! I would get the 318 running good and drive it!
I wonder how you get in contact with the Mopar owner and the lady with all the cars?
I wonder how you get in contact with the Mopar owner and the lady with all the cars?
I bet it’s gone by now....
I'm not a Mopar guy and I'd bu that '72 without a second thought. Awesome entry into the muscle car world.
rcairforceone you are correct. Not a desirable year, but a respectable entry, non the less.
rcairforceone by the way, a settlement needs your help. Preston Garvey told me to mark it on your map.
@@notfried2004 he doesn't say much since I bought out a settlement and turned it over to operators before completing Open Season.....
I have a neighbour that has a 72 440 Charger. That thing is badass. PS, i live in Germany, classic american cars are verry rare
"that wife is a keeper!!!" :)))) holy words!!!
The Mc Laren Mustang was only labelled as Mc Laren. The transformation was done by American Sunroof Corporation (A.S.C.) nobody could do better convertible roofs in that time.
She gave realistic prices for the cars but will the husband agree?
If he knows what's good for him, he will. :-D ;-)
15:15 Yahoo!?
Ivo Poblete .... from back in the day ... like the cars 😂
Yahoo Auction is big in some countries. I doubt she meant that however.
Or Amazon?...LoL
I will immediately surf there with my Netscape browser. Oh wait the phone line is busy...
Some real gems in that collection and that includes, Susan. What a hoot of a gal. Great video Tom.
I was about to drop a comment saying she's a real hoot!
Well, you just did. lol
love that lady!
rymdmannen77 She is definitely a car girl.
I do too, she reminds me of the old days....gentle people with a hint of sass. God Bless her!
I believe that's a second generation Blazer, not a first gen. But still a killer deal! Zip~
It is a second gen. I had one just like I, 2wd and everything.
whole lotta nope except for the Charger
Now this channel should offer this lady her own UA-cam show, on this channel. Drop the mic, because she is UA-cam video gold!
Bless You guys!! Thank You for Doing this!
Watched all the 38 episodes in one day, love the show. Would be nice if the episodes are in the 30 min range, cant get enough.
That poor Torino, dude should be ashamed of himself for letting it get to and sit in that condition....it's not a junk chevelle or pos impala or nova for christs sake....
That is a 2nd Generation Blazer. I have a first Generation K5.
That Charger was a steal..I'd love that bad boy as a daily driver!
BTW, anybody know who does the theme song for these vids? My son loves the tune.
I would restore that 64 falcon - i am crazy for those round taillights of the 60's ford . Just love them
64 falcons my dream car and on that ford truck after it is its hood
