The way this girl articulates the word "Metamorphosis" tells u all u need to know about her incredible vocal interpretation. The Drummer n Bassist n all the kids are just amazing! One of my fave vids on whole of Utube, absolutely love OKMS vids.....🙏❤️😎
I really love this performance since the first time I heard it. The vocalist is really great. She has a UA-cam channel I am subscribed to, but I can't remember her name. Her voice is really similar to Lacey Sturm from Flyleaf. Especially with some of her vocal inflections. I love that the drummer went full Danny Carey mode in that bridge. As someone who started playing musical instruments young and is a multi instrumentalist I have a real affinity for kids playing music. Especially rock music. Sky, please do a reaction to some Flyleaf. If you liked this singer then you will love it. I saw them live and they were fantastic. I took my niece to see it as her first concert. Check out I'm So Sick, Fully Alive, or All Around Me. Great reaction Sky!
Hey, Sky! My god-daughter used to play bass in a "rock school", so I'm fully down with stuff like this. This is a tough song, with unusual rhythns, so hats off to those kids! (Esp the drummer!) Nandi Bushell, an 11-year-old drummer in the UK covered this, too, and Tool's drummer shouted her out. So they may or may not be involved in this one, but they undoubtedly know and approve. Rock on! 🤘😎👍
well at least some if not all of them donated money to the foundation and adam jones said about their sober cover it should be played on the radio and maynard said about one of their songs (i believe this one) that they played it better than them. i would die for a video where the band reacts to this video all together haha. i'm sure they all would be blissed and proud seeing the next generation of musicians play their song so spectacularly.
I love to see people discovering what OMF has been doing but in reference to what they truly produce, go find the cover of Crazy Horse by Black Label Society, Version 2 - it's the same vocalist - all grown up and CRUSHING it!
I do not want to criticize the original performance of their song by Tool but I really think Kala Rose's voice adds something that the original lacked. Nice reaction! 👍
The singer's name is Kala Rose. Here is a link to her on her UA-cam channel singing an acoustic cover of Fully Alive by Flyleaf. That really backs up my comment that her voice reminds me of Lacey Sturm from Flyleaf. ua-cam.com/video/iTtpSyQmRQ8/v-deo.html
Hi Sky. So first time listener. Just found this reaction by accident and I'm glad I did. I wish I found this sooner to when you released it, but hopefully you'll still read comments from it.... Anyhow, O'Keefe foundation is an amazing foundation from what I've been able to find out. Also, the kids do do many different covers of different bands, but I'm sure you know all that by now. Something you said kind of interested me. You said you love watching kids getting into rock/metal type stuff, especially the "older stuff", after which you said you hated saying that. I'm just wondering. Have you ever heard of a Japanese band called Babymetal? I think you'd really like them. They have become amongst the biggest bands in Japan, they've performed all over the world now, and they have really good music. The whole band was actually formed around the lead singer (normally its kind of the other way around...). The lead singer was attending an acting/singing school called Sakura Gakuin. There she was learning to act and sing JPop. One of her teachers heard her singing and thought her voice was much too powerful for JPop singing, so he wanted to create an experiment. So he gathered her and 2 other girls and created Babymetal as an experiment band. Well that experiment exploded and now they are huge. I think you'd really like what they have to offer. A very large portion of their music, once you translate the lyrics, have very good and wholesome meanings. One of their songs talks about ending bullying forever. Another discusses how you should never give up fighting for what you believe in. Yet another is about fighting your inner demons, and never giving up. Always get up and keep trying. Most of their songs are in Japanese, but as the singer points out, she doesn't really care if you understand what they are singing about. To her, that isn't the important part of the music. She wants you to be able to FEEL the music. Yet during their concerts when they went outside of Japan, she and the others were taken aback when they noticed their nonJapanese fans had learned the Japanese lyrics and were singing along with them. This touched Babymetal very much, so they made a song just for the fans and they learned to sing it in English too, so all their fans could understand and enjoy it. This band is such a beautiful band. Anyhow, hopefully you give them a chance. I'd recommend listening to HeadBanger as your first listen, or Catch Me If You Can (a song about playing hide and seek with a demon lol). Headbanger is about a girl who attends her first metal concert. If you DO decide to give Babymetal a listen be prepared for a sizable jump in subs I think because there are a lot of us fans that will jump in to be able to watch as you react to their stuff lol Anyways, nice reaction, and hopefully you give them a chance! Incidentally, I don't know if you know by now or if somebody mentioned it, but Kala Rose (the singer of this cover), also does an amazing TOOL:Sober cover. She also does an amazing dream theater cover.
Yeah very cool foundation here and awesome reaction to them. Actually this video is from 8 years ago and then singer Kala Rose did alot more with the foundation but my favourite is their cover of a Black label Society song called Crazy Horse, If you do a reaction to it you'll see her all grown up and holy shit her voice is fucken crazy now! actually here's a link to the video ua-cam.com/video/oYEXeW94z5A/v-deo.html
I have always gotten butchered for my opinion on this while I think the kids are really good and everybody does such a great job the girl singing has two smaller boys to be doing Maynard. Not saying that she's a bad singer or not in the lease but she doesn't have what she needs at that age the cover tool
You could do audiobooks better than anybody on the planet. You kill every sector even the erotica. You got the voice chick. Edit: Yeah I subbed the instance that I noticed You had an aerial poster next to Slipknot. This chick is awesome 😝
🐙 Tool is NOT an army. Boomers. Its a personal experience. Not an army. You are why Maynard hates you army. Stop! Be an individual. Be what Tool wants you to be. Personal experience not a Kiss Army. Dont be a boomer army. Stop with the army
That’s the only way they work… in order to up load them and in order for YT not to block them.. that’s the only reason why anyone doing reactions pause and talk. Believe me I’d rather play the full song… but those are the rules.
They add a few instruments to personalize the song while maintaining the pace and theme of the original. I’m really glad you’ve given them more exposure.
O'Keefe music foundation is a non-profit that teaches kids not only to play or sing but production skills too like sound engineering, lights, video production and editing etc. and it's free to the kids because it's paid for through donations and I'm guessing youtube ads? . A totally worthwhile cause.
This is nearly 10 years ago now, Kala was about 10-11 then ? See her from a year ago covering Black Label Society's Crazy Horse : ua-cam.com/video/oYEXeW94z5A/v-deo.html They cap the OMF kids ages at 18, so this was her "swan song finale" and an amazing one at that.... Her own band is called Saving Escape, worth checking out !
These kids are awesome, and they cover a lot of different rock bands. As much as I love this video, the same girl Kayla (a bit older) does Sober, and their version is amazing, again with a couple a really young ones, check it out!
Yesssss! I’ve seen this video a while ago and forgot about it. However, there are many more videos of these guys in more recent years doing covers and they’re really good. Thanks Sky. You’re so awesome. 👍
At the time that Sky is doing this review, I'm thinking these kids are now almost as old as her.... We are all fans of this cover, but I cannot help to think what kind of views one would get if they did a vid following up on these musicians today. I would be interested
the singers name is Kala Rose, she's in a band called Saving Escape now ua-cam.com/users/SavingEscapevideos and she covered a lot of songs while still attending the O'Keefe Music Foundation, my personal favorites were her version of The Pot ua-cam.com/video/Ipsf4Xgy-pM/v-deo.html and Sober ua-cam.com/video/ctt87B6hU1M/v-deo.html - OMF did 5 different versions of The Pot with various students, none of them were bad, but I thought hers was unique and beautiful
This is in my #UpliftingInspiration playlist & gets played on the regular. Tis indeed a thing of joy. :) For a bunch of teenagers to pull this off is properly o_O And props obviously to the engineering & production guys to capture this, & mix & master so well to come up with a polished end result. The teen drummer tho, getting the spirit of the thing so close to what Danny does in the original, trying his arse off while obviously close to his physical limits at the time.... what an absolute #SpiritAnimal !! :)
Love how the kids have embraced and loved music I grew up on- there is hope for the future! Seriously, these kids do a truly amazing job of covering the song. Spiral Out...
Love how that bass player is sporting that "Periphery" shirt. I have given and gifted away may of my old, used and new equipment to the next generation of talented musicians. You just never know where the next doctor to cure cancer will come from , or next musician to create that song that you just cant it out of your head, but they are out there. Sometimes they just need a head start.
I love these kids and I love the fact that this is a school that is allowing these children to get into and enjoy music. Was waiting for her to hear Kala too.
The drummer from Tool is one of the founders of this foundation...Shout out to all the kids, they killed it but everyone knows the real Rock Star is little man on the wood blocks...
Karla [lead vocals here] secret to sounding so good was her ability to utilize vocal fry. Most singers take years to lean how to do it, but she was doing it right out of the gate. Sexy reaction per usual Sky 😋
The way this girl articulates the word "Metamorphosis" tells u all u need to know about her incredible vocal interpretation. The Drummer n Bassist n all the kids are just amazing! One of my fave vids on whole of Utube, absolutely love OKMS vids.....🙏❤️😎
This is what I call having a positive impact on youngsters. Great performance!
I remember when this first came out. Very impressive these kids did a wonderful job
This is one ,, once found need watched over and over to grab up all there is ,, so many kids contribute to this,,,, together the make a symphony
Did you catch the Easter egg in the song?
This is what's it's all about. Kids playing ! I love this cover the most
as far as I can tell, there's being able to play an instrument, then there's being able to play a Tool song. So much math.
Great reaction Sky!
kala rose from saving escape
Her voice is nothing like Lacey Sturm
Such a good group of kids - they are gonna have awesome lives :) love the drummer and the base guy is so chill :) Thanks Sky for sharing your time :)
They did a great Number of the Beast cover as well
Hey, Sky! My god-daughter used to play bass in a "rock school", so I'm fully down with stuff like this. This is a tough song, with unusual rhythns, so hats off to those kids! (Esp the drummer!) You have to check out their cover of Iron Maiden's, The Longest Day. Same vocalist and another amazing performance from all the kidos.
That was AWESOME!!! That school is getting a donation from me ASAP!
That young drummer dude does Danny proud
love her switch from headvoice to belt.
When we give the children a healthy path,, and allow them to grow,, this is what happens 👍👍👍👍👍
All the OKeefe Music Foundation covers are fantastic.
I love to see people discovering what OMF has been doing but in reference to what they truly produce, go find the cover of Crazy Horse by Black Label Society, Version 2 - it's the same vocalist - all grown up and CRUSHING it!
❤️❤️❤️❤️👆
I do not want to criticize the original performance of their song by Tool but I really think Kala Rose's voice adds something that the original lacked. Nice reaction! 👍
should check out their Crazy Horse v2, same girl singing...she's 18 in that video, last one she did with OMF
❤

Omg thank you!!!
Watch their cover of iron maidens number of the beast.. or the cover of Danzig's long way back from hell.

Speaking of that motif, have a look at Adam Jones "The Witness". It's ¾s of Tool (no MJK), as an advert for Gibson Les Paul Starburst guitars.
Sky
I believed that Okeefe Music Foundation still have their UA-cam channel. Those kids are now young adults including Kayla singing.
These kids have more talent in their, one oh their toenails than than most of these so called, reactors.
Calm down it’s not that serious lol
Yeah very cool foundation here and awesome reaction to them. Yes...above all else, check this video out. Your mind will be blown!
Can’t agree more. I love that song and her vocals are amazing. So great to see her develop into a leading front woman!
@@Tamalan Yeah I think she is in a band called Saving Escape now??, I have seen a video of her with them but can't remember.
Check out o’Keefe music foundation. These kids study there.
Same kids
I have always gotten butchered for my opinion on this while I think the kids are really good and everybody does such a great job the girl singing has two smaller boys to be doing Maynard. Brown Sabbath..NIB
Hey Beauty! You should check out the "School of Rock" series of videos. AWESOME!!!!
Yeah, kids cover Slayer....
Their cover of Ramstein Du Hast is really good too if you get time to react.
You could do audiobooks better than anybody on the planet. You kill every sector even the erotica. You got the voice chick.
Edit: Yeah I subbed the instance that I noticed You had an aerial poster next to Slipknot.
This chick is awesome 😝
Omg thank you! I do plan on making a asmr channel mainly talking and reading in my regular voice.. not too much whispering only if the ppl want it lol
Isitjust me or is sky really hoot
🐙 Tool is NOT an army. Boomers. Its a personal experience. Not an army. You are why Maynard hates you army. Stop! Be an individual. Be what Tool wants you to be. Personal experience not a Kiss Army. Dont be a boomer army.
Stop with the army
Only thing I hate about reaction videos is why do u think people want to hear talking throughout video so lame
That’s the only way they work… in order to up load them and in order for YT not to block them.. that’s the only reason why anyone doing reactions pause and talk. Believe me I’d rather play the full song… but those are the rules.

I does not get better than this. Every decision and execution by every player was exactly correct.
And as you pointed out… tight
Kala Rose has her own brand these days. It's called Saving Escape. They have a rock / bluegrass vibe and her voice is amazing.
She is awesome. She was 11 when they did this. Need to check out the Pot by Tool they did and Crazy Horse by Black label Society. Soo good!!
thanks for info bro .....

Did you listen to Tool's Sober and Dream Theater's Pull Me Down yet by Kala Rose and Kidz.

Check out Kala Rose singing Crazy Horse by Black Label Society. Shes all grown up in this one.
the singer is Kala Rose, who I believe is now in her own band called Saving Escape
you like girl singer watch the Guns & Roses you could be mine
The pot version 3 by o'Keefe kids is the best imo. Different singer. Kids are a little older tho.
It's both badass and oddly hilarious watching an 11 year-old sing a gritty song about Jungian psychology lol.
The drummer did the arrangement for this song.
Try Chain of fools by those kids if you like true soul .
That kid on the drums! Wtf?!
I get all teary-eyed too. Not sure exactly why.
see hee sing black label crazy horse
Clicking the sticks
You u should check out sober

This really is a good video the kids rock it hard. And they have done a lot of good stuff...
And she nails it
I love these kids and I love the fact that this is a school that is allowing these children to get into and enjoy music. Was waiting for her to hear Kala too.
Awesome
The
The singer is around 20 now and she can rock
Her name is Kayla who does leads on this song. But she is in a band after she left O'Keefe
Playing Bogart's in Cincinnati on May 26th. Killer!
Every song they've done is phenomenal!
Mamma mia quanto sei Bella 🌹
Aww thank you 🥰🥰🥰
The drummer from Tool is one of the founders of this foundation...Shout out to all the kids, they killed it but everyone knows the real Rock Star is little man on the wood blocks...
Another excellent cover from OKMF is '52 Vincent Black Lightning from about the same time period. '
That bass player is incredible. I’m a 39 yr old bassist and he’s better than I am. You’re only as good as your drummer too btw. Awesome reaction
They do a great cover of Korn’s Freak on a Leash too. Worth checking out if you haven’t.
this is amazing!
I'm in a band and we had trouble covering this song because our drummer wasn't able to play it.
I'm new to your channel but I love watching people react to their covers because it's usually exactly how I reacted the first time I ever saw them.
🤘 did this rabbit hole 😉 Kala had Some Nice peaces, even a dream theater cover.
This foundation plays alot of great music
those kids make you shine so beautifuly, dear Sky.
Karla [lead vocals here] secret to sounding so good was her ability to utilize vocal fry. Most singers take years to lean how to do it, but she was doing it right out of the gate. Sexy reaction per usual Sky 😋
Bruh! Do Vicarious!
Told ya a long time ago! So glad you finally got to it.
