Thanks to user @BraveXPL0skullz for requesting this video. Despite it only being a broad overview it gets a bit numbers nerdy so let me know if you have any questions and I'll try my best to answer.

Excellent video. Starling seems to be a great option.

Silly question but if I'm on my computer in the UK and buying a product from a US company (in USD) or from Germany (EUR) on a German website then your video on Exchange rates charged by the various debit and credit cards still applies? I mean it applies to foreign transactions and you don't necessarily need to be on a holiday abroad for it to apply?

Is there a way (or website?) to track all three currency exchange rates live if you have all options available to you?

@0:10, I have all of those except Barclaycard Rewards :-)
Possibly the most comprehensive and well produced video i've seen to date about exchange rates. Much appreciated Jamie.

Do you know the best way to transfer pounds into euros? iI revoult as i could do this at interbank rate upto 5k but now its 1k then 0.5% after. Looking at monzo that uses mastercard rate but if its about 0.5% or more differece maybe its better to stick with revoult anyway. Do you know other options? thank you!

Great video and well researched. Could you do a video on your thoughts of bringing cash to a foreign country? Or do you just use credit card? I guess it depends on what country you visit

Nowadays I almost always just use a combination of travel credit card and debit card. If it's a country that predominantly uses cash then I'll get cash out at an ATM once I arrive (although sometimes I might exchange a little before going so I have some in case I need to get transport etc). Carrying cards is safer, better value and easier to track 👍

On a recent visit to France by Eurostar, I waited till I got to Lille, then drew cash from an ATM using Currensea. Might not work every time, for example, if I'd used a taxi. I couldn't find an ATM at the station.
In fact, I didn't spend any cash the whole weekend and still have it in my drawer, not 20 feet away. Spent on Halifax Clarity credit card.

Info is a bit wrong. Curve uses Mastercard rate, and has 0.5%/1.5% fee at the weekend. Other considerations Currensea 0.5% + Mastercard rate 0.4% = 0.9%. Best appears to be Revolut (avoid weekends or pre-swap to avoid fees) and then Starling (0.4% Mastercard fee). I have Revolut, Curve, Starling, Currensea, so my order of use = Revolut, Starling, Currenea and then Curve.

This is incorrect for Currensea, at least for the Euro and US dollar. It's a Mastercard, but doesn't use the Mastercard exchange rate. It uses the Interbank rate for most countries then adds the .5% markup. It does use the Mastercard rate for some currencies.

Revolute uses its own FX rate, does add charges and notes that in its literature, but doesn't say what they are. Third parties calculate them at .2%. As you say, much higher at weekends 1%.
