This make me miss fishing hybrid in Oklahoma. Been 5yrs since I visit
Well come on back haha. Just going to get better from here on.
slaying them keep it up good video
Thank you. You guys are doing very good too... gotta come fish with ya at kaw
@@sukieoutdoors7422 Heck yeah would be fun ...We may come down that way next weekend.
@@damfishingaddicts6619 nice. Hope to see yall around.
Good video, just subscribed, hope to see more videos like this..thanks
Thanks. I have more coming
Nice vid man! When you caught the first fish, I felt like I was feeling the fish pulling the rod LOL.
Haha them hybrids tho. Always put up a good fight
The lake above the dam is said to be a great catfishing lake! I was in college when this lake was built. I have never fished it but saw it when we used to visit in Cleveland
I miss oklahoma and fishing this dam
Freakin Wicked I’ve never fished it but I plan to!
If you can. Now is the time. Got alot of reports from that dam. Stripers ate hitting good now
Nice! I'm I'm town visiting family for a bit and plan on fishing around this spot soon! Came scross this just doing some research 🤠
With the lake levels high. They have been releasing alot of water. Should be good now.
@@sukieoutdoors7422 nice! In the 3 weeks I've been here so far its crazy how much the waters have risen! I'm here in Mannford now. Any tips on fishing the dam? 👊
@@FlyCastFilms with just the turbines running. We usually just use 3/4oz-1oz jig heads. With fluke or swimbait. Bucktail also works well too. Cast out past the currents and let it drift.
@@FlyCastFilms it'll be a whole different deal once they release flood gates tho
For anyone wondering what lures to use. I would recommend and white lure mainly i use zoom super flukes its been working great!
Zoom super flukes with the chartreuse tail at any dam will crush it
What about braid Lb?
@@SDhmoobxyooj i usually use 20 lbs test braid but ive seen others use higher like 30 or even 40
Awesome thank you
Nice fish you guys fish totally different than we do down here to at oolohah dam just saying
Oologah dam in Oklahoma? Jw, not sure if you misspelled haha. But yeah, every dam is different. Also, the time of year makes a difference too. We switch from flukes, bucktails and topwater
@@sukieoutdoors7422 yes oolohah Oklahoma I was just watching some of your videos when I hook into a big fish instead of trying to force the fist to me i walk reel at the same time I don't try to pull the fish to me if I'm fishing in heavy current that's all I was getting at.
I grew up fishing keystone dam loved filling up cooler with fish hated always getting snagged on lines stuck in water out there
Snagging on some dead lines in the water is the worst part. And there's notting you can do about it either. But it's a bit better now.
Danggg just like that. I like dams where you don’t have to constantly bounce it. Get stuck too much lol.
But nice fish brother. Quick question, you don’t like to have drag on to let the fish fight at all or is it just more rocky and shallow so you have to horse them in?
@@Vangster23 I do have the drag on pretty tight. Just to avoid having to fight the fish at the currents down river. Also, there are quite a bit of fishing lines in the water to the left. I've had my fishes stuck on it before.
@@sukieoutdoors7422 that makes sense. Will be in Oklahoma soon to visit a great uncle and wanted to do some hybrid fishing with my dad. Hope to see you!
@@Vangster23 ok Kool. Should be good til the end of fall haha. Lmk, maybe we could meet at one of the dams here
@@sukieoutdoors7422 I’ll hit you up a couple days beforehand and you can show us the ropes if available!
What bait where you using on both rod set up ?
New sub enjoy your videos what size jig head seems to work best for this technique
I used to fish the river before the lake was built. Is the lake now about full of sand?
What's the weight you use?
Do you prefer any reels besides this stradic for this type of fishing ?
I prefer the penn slammer 3 reel. Not as smooth and light as the stradic. but it's just built like a tank. I've taken on some very big fishes with that reel
I’ve noticed the small road to go down there is closed off, are you allowed to park across and walk down there?
We had to park at the closed gate. And walk about a mile. But just recently I heard that they are now working on the walkway at the dam. So you probably won't be able to fish. But do call and confirm with the lake office.
@@sukieoutdoors7422 sounds good thanks
Nice! What rod is this?
It's a 11' diawa legalis seabass rod.
Hi what is the best time of the year for stripe bass fishing ? I am from Birmingham Alabama and now we are in December so they say they don't bite as much in December and to fish in March because it is early spring and the stripe bass are running during that time. Do you think December is a good month for fishing for stripe bass? I only fish from the bank especially under dams. I am not experienced in Stripe bass fishing so don't know if now is a good time to be driving to the dam. Any tips is greatly appreciated 🙏
I think the best time of year is during the spring and fall. around April and during October. Bit really. It all depends on water releases if you fish the dams
@@sukieoutdoors7422 so it's always better to go when they are releasing the water ? What baits would be good at this time ?
@@aniketbelgaonkar4870 for dam fishing. It's always best when water is released. Usually when water is off. We would just fish down river. Using jetk bait or topwater lures
How many ounce you throwing?
Damn bro. When did u start fishing. Lol
Where you guys park to fishing below dam?
The parking at keystone dam is closed atm. We park at the closed gate. And walk about a mile. But I have my bike, so it's not as bad
Where can I get that 11' Diawa Legalis sea bass rod, can you share the link? Thanks

Will a 15lbs braided line be good enough to fish out there?
That's all I use for striper and hybrid fishing. 15lb powerpro super slick.
Yes
Do u know the length from the reel seat to the butt stop? N what size reel u use?
It's around 15"-16". I'm using a 5000 shimano stradic.
Sounds like you like a drum as much as me
Good action. But no one wants to eat them haha
@@sukieoutdoors7422 and they are stacked up here in arkansas on the rivers . Can catch anything else . Got a week vacation soon . May head over there and see if I can catch a striper .
@@claytontodds744 some days it's notting but drums. But we are starting to catch more stripers now.
wow this is interesting. You just let the fish took the lure by itself without shaking or moving. Pretty you just hold the rod and let it drift with occasionally crank it a little bit?
Yeah, pretty much let it dead drift. Crank it a bit, mainly to keep it off the rocks.. The currents under water should wiggle the fluke tail a bit.
@@sukieoutdoors7422 It is interesting on how you use the technique. Because I see people doing it differently in Cape Cod Canal. They cast and jig it very strongly. Almost consistently keep jigging it. But you pretty let it drift. I will apply your technique at Cape Cod Canal.
@@vsonic86 yeah, if the currents are strong enough. I'm sure it'll work the same. The fishes here are used to picking up dead or stunned shad that came out of the turbines.
@@sukieoutdoors7422 what jig were you using also how much ounces ?
@@aniketbelgaonkar4870 I was just using a 3/4oz-1oz ball jig head with fluke or small swimbait.
Is that a telescoping rod?
No, its a 2 piece seabass rod
What lures to use for stripper? Plz help my friends
3/4oz-1oz jig head with a fluke or swimbait
Can you fish there right now or is it closed?
It has been open for a while now.
What lure did you use?
Just small swim bait with 3/8oz-1oz jighead
What rods do you using ?
It's a diawa legalis sea bass rod.
How many fish can you take home??
5 striper and 20 hybrids ( only 5 over 20")
Damn make it look too easy to catch them
Naw. It was just a good day haha. Se days I struggle to catch 1 fish
@@sukieoutdoors7422 I love catch those hybrid.I have to drive 2-3hrs just to try to catch them.we don’t have them in my area
been wanting to fish there for a long time but im 150 miles south of you down here south of okc.
i hit the sub button always for another okie fisherman. looks like fun.
@@mike-bj4dk thank you. What city you in? There are some good fishing down south.b
@@sukieoutdoors7422 paoli. i usually fish longmire and pauls valley lake but my favorite little lake is healdton
@@mike-bj4dk yeah, you'll probably have to make a drive to catch stripers. Keystone, kaw or texhoma
What bait??
zoom super fluke i think
Can we fishing at keystone dam
You can. But the parking area is closed. So you'll have to park at the gate. And walk yo the fishing area
What lb braid?
10lb powerpro super slik
@@sukieoutdoors7422 brave that's a bit thin for hybrids but as long as it works
@@gkhin1990 me and group went from 20lb, 15lb and now 10lb. 10lb is good enough, and it also helps with distance. I've pulled in some nice fishes with it. But yeah, just got to becareful and not try to muscle in the fish.
Did you catch these fish or did your boyfriend. Can you talk.
My bf? Not sure what your talking about
