Guys I can confirm this really works. I've been talking to my self and thinking in english. And it actually have improved my talking speed, pronouncing and also I've learned to have words from diffrent languages for the thing. Its hard to explain but like I don't translate in my head anymore Its like i just understand what i hear instantly. Xd its really hard to explain, and fun part is that I've done this without knowing it actually improved my english :D

When I just started to think in English I didn't even notice it. That had been happening for a couple of days and then, I was like '' daaaamn I just thought in English, how the hell did it happened?'' and then I continued to think and talk in English in my head, and it really helped, now there are almost no things that I can't think about:) So you also need to practice a lot and force yourself a little bit;))

I learnt English with tv shows, and I still learn from the "Frasier Files" cuz the transcripts are filled with descriptions which is my final step towards really mastering this language. What I love about Frasier is the diff types of English, a sitcom: 2 sophisticated psychiatrists; 2 average working americans; and a regular working class british woman. Their choices of words, their diff view of life and ideas led my english where it is today.

Hello, Lucy :) Thanks a lot for your advice :) I always find your lessons really useful. As for the methods, I often use number four and five. I prefer to read newspapers in English/French, speak to myself, watch the tv shows in my target languages etc. Also, sometimes when my parents ask me something, I reply in English/French/Spanish and German :) Because that time, I feel like replying in those languages. Once, one of my English teachers said '' When something comes to your mind, that could be an expression, a proverb, don't block yourself, just spill it out, get it off your chest. No matter there isn't any person around you who can understand that. İt will allow you to have self-confidence while speaking. Another point is that I sometimes have a dream in my target languages :) İt seems that I am getting closer to achieve my target. speak like a native speaker.
Thanks a lot once again. Good luck in your new neighbourhood. Have a nice weekend :)

I often think in English, too.

Totally agree on that "speak to yourself". The "dream in another language" (english for me) also happened to me. It seem that I'm not that crazy after all. Sometimes mixing words in two languages within a sentence, insane.

5:48 this is what I practice everyday but in my native language. Now I'll do it in English. I love to talk to myself.
Some people think that I'm mad but actually its an amazing way to prepare oneself for the next day presentations or any conversation (according to me)
    I find it really helpful.

I remember when i was studying in the UK, one day i video chatted with my mom telling her i was gonna go field trip but i was stuck for a minute coz i literally forgot how to say Field Trip in Mandarin. Instead, i could just say i was gonna go to travel to somewhere with classmates. True story lol

Something I like to do is listen to podcasts. I listen to the "BBC world news", they have two episodes from Monday to Saturday and one on Sundays. What I like about this podcast besides be updated is that they have local journalists around the world, so you can listen to different accents.

Immersion works for me, I'm always up to listening to the BBC newsnight channel here on UA-cam as well as channel 4 news and many other US outlets. I've been watching the whole of harry potter films recently on top of reading a lot books about various topics. Hope the situation is still manageable up there in England. Hope to see more of you during these weeks of lockdown, wish you well Lucy ! 😄👋

thank you lucy, your videos help me a lot. i applied most of the methods two days in a row last week (before watching this video) and i got good progress for my level of "thinking in english". after this period i realized that my subconscious started to help me to remember the words which are in my passive vocabulary when i'm speaking. i even used the word "nordic" while i was talking to a friend. i even didn't know that i know the meaning of that word as well.
