Good presentation. I still use the old school 138, I built it and I'm very proud of it. I told myself I would Up-grade but I haven't found a justification. The little scope does just fine in the Arduino world. Your new guy here has the advantage in form factor. My scope feels cheap even with the stupid acrylic case. This might make me feel better, I was going to get a smaller meter as well. Bench space is tight. Thanks.

Hi Planker, if the 138 is enough, then you don't need anything else. If you need a component tester (capacitators, resistors and so on), you can always go with the DSO-TC2, very nice devide and just a very few buck more than the 138PRO and you'll have an oscilloscope and a component tester on a very nice enclosure, you have the video here ( ua-cam.com/video/TXEXZlp8_9U/v-deo.html ) and the device here ( geni.us/rDqW ). If you don't need one and 138 is enough for you, just stick with it 😁 Thanks for watching! 👍

@@TechCornerTV I assembled the component tester as well. For $30 I have a VOM, Trans tester, and a mini scope. I can fix stuff..I keep looking at the bigger stuff, but honestly a new scope at this time.... I'm not there yet.

Hey Khuong, thanks for your nice comment. Yeah, you're right, the bandwidth could be better, but for the target audience, I think this will be ok. If you're serious about the need of osciloscope, plus 30€ you can buy from FNRSI the portable 100Mhz version. Thanks for watching! 👍

Hey Tron, yeah it's one more to that range of "I just wanna know how this works" oscilloscopes. Works ok and it is really compact, the board also seemed nice. I think it might be useful to a lot of people that don't need more than this. Regarding the rest of your comment, I really avoid to talk things other than electronics, because, everybody has an opinion and sometimes we might get misunderstood, but, I have a lady that comes once a week to my home to cleanup, sometimes with her daughter. They both are Ukrainian and she talks for months about this that happened was gonna happen. She's devasted, has family back home, and I can't imagine what she is going on. Let's hope that everything solves for the best. 🙏 Thanks for watching. 👍

Hi, sorry for the delay in the answer, time these days is very short. I understand what you're saying, but as I see it, we have several categories of oscilloscopes and for this I will use euros (my local currency), you have the under 35€, this one and a few other options, then ~40€ to 65€ where you'll find devices like the FNIRSI 1C15+, 5012H, Zeeweii DSO1511G, etc, we have another category between ~65€ to 110€ FNIRSI DSO180X, Tooltop ET829, Zeeweii DSO2512G or DSO3D12, then we have between 150€ and 250€ the Owon and Hantek portable oscilloscopes (some with multimeter) and we start to have the desktop oscilloscopes with FNIRSI 1104D being the cheapest and also with less features of the bunch, after you have the Hantek, Owon and a few other brands and then you go all the way to 300€ and up where you start to get different equipments, with different quality.
For it's category under 35€, is a very nice device, only surpass by the Zeeweii DSO154. My opinion isn't related with be free or not, every equipment I receive these days, is sent for review free and the condition is that I can say whatever I want about it.
I analyze every device according the category is him, apples with apples and oranges with oranges. Thanks for watching.

SWD/CLK - Serial Wire Debug. ARM M-series standard programming interface with bidirectional communication.
18:25 "offset is changing" - well you are in AC coupled mode. :D
OK i know the ADC on the Winchiphead is different than on STM32 and seems like it might be faster, but where are they getting the divider to get 2.5MHz out of it specifically? Rather than 1, 2 or 4 MHz. This smells a little fishy. The crystal is 8MHz so it's probably running 72MHz standard main clock.

@@TechCornerTV I mean 1 MHz sampling rate is exactly what I expect given the extreme low cost nature and minimal envelope, I just have a little chip on my shoulder where I'd really like manufacturers to provide actual faithful specs regardless of if it's an educational toy instrument or has higher ambitions, and I'm just not convinced the brand is particularly committed to that. A lot of specs in their higher cost and larger devices also take an almost injury-prone amount of squinting.

  • @PeetHobby

A sine wave may not be the best waveform to test oscilloscope quality, in my opinion. A ramp-up waveform is better for testing the quality of a scope because it requires a sufficient sample rate to measure the entire wave amplitude. Ramp waves have sharp corners, so the scope needs to have a sufficient sample rate otherwise you will get an amplitude drop.

Hi Piotr, This one has battery and DSO150 doesn't, you can hack it to add battery but thats another story. The battery for automotive usage might be very useful. For a few bucks more you can also consider the DSO PRO, it has battery and already supports 5Mhz bandwidth. I have a video on that one also, see it in the channel videos. But between the 2 you mentioned, I prefer the DSO 150, but for automotive usage I think DSO128 PRO might be better, due the battery. In terms of features, they're about the same. Maybe someone here can help. I need a scope here and there, but I've never bought one. I know the basics, but that's it. I will study though.
I don't know why I'd need a better one, but I would buy a "real" beginner scope if I can find the reason. Like 400 dollar scope that people suggest.
So currently, I want to find the rise time of some 5volt and 3.3 volt regulators.
I need to troubleshoot a chip starting too slowly.
Other times I need a scope are arduino or raspberry pi related or some other things.
Do I even care about bandwidth?
Does it only matter for oscillators?
Help, lol. I just basically wish my multimeter could plot change over time.
Problem is every time I try to do research, the use cases are examples and I don't know how that'd compare to my somewhat unknown use cases.
I do radio sometimes, but I don't expect to be able to analyze gigahertz antenna, so skip that.
But what about clock frequency? What about basic electronic troubleshooting?
Should I get this or a beginner rygol? I know you can't answer for real, but any advice?
Edit: also there's some 50 dollar scope that say 10 or more Megahertz? Hows that possible if this is 80Killohertz?
    Thank you

Hi, so, first of all you should find out your budget, if you have a budget up to $50 and want this for a hobby, you can use this one or DSO-TC2, they're similiar. (Head's up, there is a new TC3 to be released and I will review soon and has more bw). If your budget goes up $100, you might considet the Zeeweii DSO2515G, has 2 channels, function generator and a few more functions. If you have a budget around $150 you can already consider the benchtop FNIRSI 1014D, it's very rookie friendly, has a nice image and very easy to use. If you budget can go up to $240+/-, benchtop Hantek 2D15 or Owon are good choices. Hope it helped. Thanks for watching!

@@TechCornerTV wow this is great.thank you so much!
So this is what I decided. Order that little 33 dollar tiny scope. Then, if I use it a lot and run into limitations, I will go pretty far up to to the full size scope.
I've heard some bad things about that hanteck regarding the ui, the stability, and with the teardown.
So, I may search your channel for a sigilent, rygol, or something with some solid us support.
I'm going to go look for some cool circuits to build!
      Thank you so much.

Hi, don't forget to change the probe to 10x, otherwise you can damage the oscilloscope. It should work ok to check the inverter. Sometimes, you have to tune up a bit, since auto is not perfect, some times it doesn't work so well. Normally, a amplitude adjustment do the trick. Thanks for watching!

@@TechCornerTV ok thanks for the tip, do I just simply attach each end of 10x grey probe to each outlet hole (sorry not sure of proper term) obviously not the ground one right? Im in Canada so we are 120v power. Then turn it on and press auto? I know I can adjust amplitude by adjusting voltage. I will try it with and without a load correct? @@mikeoes1 Thanks for the sub! This is really important, you should use the probe on the live, never connect the aligator clip to the live one, otherwise can be very dangerours, but you put the probe in 10x mode and also don't forget to do the same on the oscilloscope. The probe aligator clip should be connected to the common. Please understand that kind of voltage can harm you and damage the equipment.

@@TechCornerTV ok thanks again! Do you know how to put it in 10 x mode? because the manual does not say how and I've tried playing with all the buttons. if I hold down the change button it does not let me toggle from 1X to 10X, its skips over that section at the bottom of the screen. Heres a 1 min video of me trying to test wave output from my house outlet (120v). Is this correct?

So I got this. Definitely going to get a lab scope.
With this little guy, it's fun. But, it will not mount for firmware update. Two seperate computers, nothing.
I even looked to see if I needed to assign a drive letter to the mount. Nope, nothing.
But I also can't find firmware, so maybe there isn't any update anyway?
    Thank you

Hi! Yeah, it's only 200Khz... if you think about it, the arduino as 16Mhz crystal... it's ok to see how everything works and to make you sure that you need to buy a 100Mhz one... hehehe...

Yes, that's basically my plan. If I find myself limited, then that means I can justify a lab scope, but if I don't use it much or am not limited then I won't.
Even if I but a real scope, having this portable in my carrying case with my multimeter is still nice.
Arduino, I didn't think about that. You can actually view the clock, cool. I'm used to multi gigahert processors. I gotta try that!

i am in a search for my first oscilloscope, Hugo. For a hobbyist, learn-to-fix electronic stuffs like phones, laptops, switching PS and such (non-professional by any means), do you recommend this DSO138 Pro or rather keep the money for a more advance one? maybe like 1C15 model?

    • @TechCornerTV
      @TechCornerTV  2 роки тому +1

Hi Radius, I ordered for review the KKMOON DS0120M, DSO1511G & DSO2512G120M (2 channels), FNIRSI 1C15+ & 5012H to make the review of each of this oscilloscopes and a showdown video after. To be honest and considering for what you will use it, I'll suggest ot invest more $10 to $15 and buy the FNIRSI DSO PRO (you have 5Mhz and 30Mhz versions, be careful what you choose) *OR* spend more $25 and buy something like the 5012H or 1C15+ (that will be my option). The 138 PRO model only has 200Khz bandwidth and very few functions. Well thats my 5 cents on what you asked, thanks for watching! 👍 PS - I have a giveaway running right now to offer a FNIRSI 138 PRO to a channel viewer, view on the videos list how to apply to the giveaway.

      Obrigado!
