- The monastery was dedicated to Our Lady in the 15th century in Casoretto, an important location just outside the walls of Milan (Italy). The church was richly decorated in the 16th century until the monastery was suppressed and passed under a neighbouring parish. The old monastery bell was replaced in 1907 by five bronzes, two of which were requisitioned during the Second World War and paid for by the state as war damage. In 2022, the bell tower was included in the overall restoration programme of the abbey, restored to its former glory, with the addition of a new sixth bell, which increased the concert of bells from five to six bells, with the restoration of the sounding system with strings and a mechanical wooden keyboard.

The Gothic bell tower was restored, as in an old video of mine I had to climb up an internal scaffold, as the stairs had collapsed. The tower has retained the ability to ring the bells with the ropes and via the mechanical wooden keyboard, as these have been restored. The bells ring for the patron saint's feast, coinciding this year with the Trinity.
In 1404, a nobleman of the city obtained some monks for the new monastery, creating one of the largest religious communities in Europe. The Duke of Milan offered a lot of money for the decoration of the church until the Gothic bell tower was inaugurated in the summer of 1490. The three-nave building was built with an important new Gothic roof, which led the Pope, uncle of the saint Charles, to name this place an abbey, with numerous privileges for the new parish priest who was almost a bishop. The famous library was often visited by nobles and bishops, as depicted on the wall frescoes. After being suppressed in 1772, the church returned to use at the end of the 19th century and was one of the most active in social and charitable work.

Hallo. Immer wieder sehr interessant die Mechanik und wie man aus solchen großen Glocken schöne Melodien zaubert. Das manuelle Glockenspiel ist klasse und hat mich an einen Don Camillo Film erinnert, da hat er auch im Turm auf die Tast geschlagen und damit eine Melodie gespielt.
