Pump programming all done thanks to this video. Hayward instructions were not clear on simply pressing Menu multiple times to cycle to programming/timer/speeds/diagnostic modes. Thanks.
I can save all settings except for time and day, pressing menu goes back to main after I set day and time, no confirm changes pops up and goes back to main screen with 0:00 as the time. Any idea what the issue may be. Tried cycling power, did not help.
I upgraded my system with the retro fit kit to Omni Logic. I get a commutation error and nothing on the pump display. I verified I have 240 V at the pump terminals. I’m not sure if the display had been out or if it has to do with the upgrade board I installed. Should that pump display light up with power only or could it be a low voltage signal problem?
Confirmed with Hayward via email that the internal programming memory lasts 3 weeks if a loss of power occurs. This will allow me to keep my old mechanical timer to stay installed, with setting its time off & on as close together as possible. Have a Tristar W3SP3202 VSP model.
Morning Timer1 is set to 3250rpm. Evening Timer2 is set to 2700rpm. What determines the watts that will be used during the hours the pump goes on? The very few times I've looked at the watts being used when the pump is on vary from 5watts to 2499watts. There are other wattage numbers in between but I cannot recall exactly what they are. Should the watts be consistent for each timer or do they fluctuate depending on something? Thx.
The watts will run higher when the pump is running at 3250rpm and lower when the pump is running at 2700rpm. There may be fluctuations in the wattage during Timer1 and Timer 2, but the wattage will be consistently higher when the RPMS are higher.
@@Inyopools This past Tuesday, timer 2 was running at 2700 rpm and 2499 watts. Today, it is running at 2700 rpm and 5 watts. Is this normal for the watts to be so off? I’ll definitely look and note down the readings these next coming days to see if there’s any other wattage readings.
My new Tri Star turns on at 34 degrees and runs at the highest speed and will not turn off after temp is over 40 degrees even after 8 hours, My Eco Star allowed more settings. How can I lower the speed setting & get it to turn off in Low- Temp on?
Variable speed motors usually have a battery back up for their timer. This allows the timer to maintain schedules and some functionality when power is not applied.
You can turn off an individual timer without resetting the entire system. Go to the timers menu. Press the > key until you get to timer 2. Press the + key to edit. Change the start and stop times to be the same time (i.e. 8am to 8am). Press the > key to advance to the next timer and it should go to off.
My Hayward Tri star 1.85 hp display panel has gone off and I can’t get it back on..brand new installed yesterday..trying to unlock and program today and it just stopped…throwing power breaker off and on did nothing..THANKS
First, I'd check the motor circuit for voltage output and continuity. I'd also check that the motor voltage switch and any dip switches are in their correct position on the motor control. If everything checks out, I'd contact the retailer from whom you purchased the motor and have them start a defective claim. I programmed the times thanks to this video but I have 2 follow up questions: 1. How do I reset the entire timing system? I have 5 programmed speeds but I’d like 1 or 2 2. How do I run the pump for 24 hours for a day? I need to shock the pool and run the pump, but can’t figure out how to get it to run that long
OK, is this a new installation or an older motor? Have you verified that the motor is receiving power? Does the motor still run at its normal pump schedule?
The pump itself does not have wifi. However, it can be connected to a Hayward control system that has wifi. So if you have a Hayward control system, you can control the pump remotely.
Once it is wired and has power, I suppose you could press one of the pre-programmed speeds and just let it run. The default speeds are listed below. Preset Speed settings can be quickly updated using the + and - arrow buttons to change the speed and then pressing the > button to save the new speed setting if desired. Default Speeds: Speed 1: 1150 rpm Speed 2: 1725 rpm Speed 3: 2300 rpm Speed 4: 2875 rpm

Great Video ! A big help in programming our new Hayward Pump. Thank You !
Our pleasure!
Why cant i just manually turn it on? I have to wait for the scheduled time?

If the filter is dirty, the pump will cavitate. This could cause the fluctuation in wattage.

How would you set the speed display to off on the tristar ?
Are you asking how to turn off the pump? Or do you want to keep the pump running but turn off only the display?
if 240v power is stopped to pump, will it hold the last settings?

Is the motor still running and following the set schedule? Or is the pump just dead?

Is there a way to program the “quick clean” button to run longer than 1 hr?
It does not appear you can change the duration of the Quick Clean run time. Quick Clean runtime maxes out at 1 hour.

How can u change the watts
Changing the motor's RPMs will also change the power usage.
How do we set timer to run for 24 hrs?
Just as you would with any other timer setting, set which days of the week you want it to run, then set the on/off schedule to 24 hours.

My pump isn’t displaying but everything is working. Anyone know how to turn it on??
Is the pump new or has it been installed for a while?
