Kahuku High School’s football team has been ranked in the top 25 in the country for years. The haka that they performed is a ceremonial dance that represents strength, pride and unity and they usually do it before games while the opposing team is watching from across the field. It’s awesome to see it in person and it will give you chills
I'm a born & raised Hawaiian, lived here my whole life & have been looking to move away lately.. Seeing this state rally together to support Iam reminded me just how special this place is. It's different. Its beautiful. This is truly just the surface level of what the Aloha Spirit is and I've never been so proud to be from Hawai'i as I am now. Our islands are absolutely stunning, but the people and their hearts, thats something special. Ive really enjoyed watching your reaction videos! The fact that you two get emotional seeing the support and community thats behind Iam, it shows you get it & you see it too. Mahalo!
You should experience the mainland and see what the other states have to offer.....I have lived in the mainlandfor 20 years....met wonderful life long friends and experienced things I would have never had I stayed in Hawai'i......but, you will find Hawai'i will always be in your soul and when you come back home you will have a new appreciation for our islands.....good luck and wishing you happiness and success🤙
Imagine being taken from Hawaii at 15 to Seattle, trying to get used to a high school while watching his father get sick. He has had a very tough couple of years and now his life has changed dramatically again. Watching Iam being so talented with the ukulele and guitar playing is something special and then he starts singing and we’re all happy listening to his voice. 🌺🌺

Hana Hou means TO DO AGAIN in Hawaiian language. In Hawaiian culture and LOCAL culture, saying/requesting HANA HOU is a blessing and love of respect to show that your performance is awesome and we want MORE.
The football team is doing a haka for Iam. It is a traditional Māori ceremonial war dance or challenge performed in a group and represents the groupʻs pride, strength, and unity, so it is now often done before football games by teams with many members of Polynesian/Melanesian heritage. Because most of the football players from Kahuku High School go on to play on college teams and in the NFL, several teams now perform the haka nationally. The haka is also performed on important occasions and to welcome honored guests, which is what they are doing for Iam. The team definitely has to practice to dance in unison, learn the Māori language and meaning, and perform with real feeling. Iʻm sure no where else in the U,S, has a graduation/homecoming ceremony like this!
I totally was tearing up watching Iam try to get his voice ready to sing “Monsters”. Musicians have said they could not imagine how he did it the first time for the audition let alone doing it in his own home. He choked up but his mother calmed him and he sang beautifully. As a TONGAN watching from Canada, this song cuts so deep to the core of island love ='OFA. He name it EFIAFI means evening" .I feel so humbled to be a Tongan with so much love sending out your way, lots of goosebumps too when listening to his songs. Not to mention, I'm bawling listening to his song as I just lost my dad too. The song is a love song whom the artist describes the humbleness of Tongan love for family and love ones. He went on to explain how widespread he travels ,but his love will always feels like the evening=Efiafi with his family. The Tongan music is describes in a poetry way. So we pour our hearts into flowers so we can peel each layer as we describe the way of love, the trip and so on. It is not straight forward like the western style. Our culture of singing, shouting(SIUHU) in a high tone, sending the vibration of love to the audience which prompted them to join in, embrace the love and raise the vibration of whoever is within that surroundings to get up, shake , hula or clap our hands. High school graduation and graduation in general is a BIG thing in the Pacific Island culture. Getting “lei’d” for graduation is a normal thing. I feel like EVERY graduate should experience this!!

One of the greatest things I’ve ever experienced is the spirit of Aloha. Living in the mainland I went to Laie, Hawaii and just how people treated you and acted and just how beautiful the scenery was. I left there with nothing but love for that city and the whole state. Props to all the polys and people of Hawaii supporting this young man in a time when you can see so much going wrong Iam brings joy, healing, and hope to this world with his voice. Aloha from the Big Island of hawaii. The Kahuku Football team performed a HAKA. The HAKA is a ceremonial Maori War dance to display Strength and unity of a tribes pride. The event was a special ceremony for Iam presenting him a honorary Graduate. Hanahou means "one more time". CheeWhoos are screamed out as an expression that you're so excited that you can't hold it in. It's a scream of "yessa". I hope that this helps you enjoy the video more.

Aloha from the Big Island of hawaii. The Kahuku Football team performed a HAKA. The HAKA is a ceremonial Maori War dance to display Strength and unity of a tribes pride. The event was a special ceremony for Iam presenting him a honorary Graduate. Hanahou means "one more time". CheeWhoos are screamed out as an expression that you're so excited that you can't hold it in. It's a scream of "yessa". I hope that this helps you enjoy the video more.
