I have been considering going to massage school for several years now, and just as I was getting closer to pull the trigger, and as my best friend went to school and is now completed his program and doing fairly well for himself. I actually ended up fracturing my proximal phalanx of my pinky finger and it healed with a malunion. I had to get several x-rays and CT scans and I feel like my hand has a lot more information and arthritis already setting in. However there is a part of me that thinks maybe Doing that massage therapy program could actually be better for my hand in someway. Because I am getting more exercise for it. I’ve always enjoyed learning about natural alternative remedies through herbalism as well as essential oils. I know they have different techniques where you can limit the use of your hands and also use other parts of your body like your elbows or even bamboo etc. i’m not sure I have such a good opportunity to go to school in Texas because it’s so close to where I’m at. Plus it’s a very affordable program. I just don’t know if I’m ready to commit to that yet. I would look at doing massage more like a side hustle part-time on the evenings and weekends around a full or part-time job at hopefully offers benefits. It just sucks so bad. I’ve always wanted to be a healer in some capacity as I’ve felt tuned into energy healing for some time. Feeling the energy in my hands. And then bam this happens. I just hate everything about it. Not sure why God allows these things to happen in our lives. In regards to pay I feel like massage therapists can and should be making wayyyy more at like $80 per hour working for yourself. I’d start with just home visits if you can’t afford your own office space
im super nervous,, i get my certification in 6 months and i am worried i won't be able to support myself finicially especially with the recession. any advice?
Hi Jackie I’m thinking on studying to become a massage therapist. I would like to know a little bit more about the administrative process (how long does it take to get the certification after studying) I know it will vary depending on the state one lives in. Thanks on advance ❤️
Hi Liz! I live in CA and it takes around 60 to 90 days to get your certification! I can actually make a more detailed video on it, but after a certain amount of hours of classes, you can apply for your certification (even if you’re still in school). This way, it’ll be easier to start work right after you graduate! It took me around 60 days to get my certification
@@JackieEm Hi Jackie, first of all thank you for making the video. I live in the Bay Area too. Where did you go to get your message certificate? Did you go to one of the massage schools in the area? I have heard of NHI. Thank you in advance for your reply.
Hi moimoi! I believe you still need to attend a massage therapy program in the US . However , you can talk to a counselor and they might be able to waive some classes! But yes you would have to go to take classes again :)
If a job on indeed says 70$ per hour part time, is that 20hours*70$ per hour fixed ? Or is it depending on how many clients we take per week and then for each client they pay 70?
Hi Harpreet, it really depends on the company. It could be $50/hr plus an average of $20 additional per tip. Or it could actually be $70/hr but only 20-25 hrs per week. Every company is different!
No it's a scam they say that at spas on indeed all of the time. You go in and they will try to pay you $17-20 an hour plus tip.... you can make 60 an hour If someone tips big which tips are whatever not always the best.
@@HAHA-kk2xy so do you think it’s worth to spend $40,000 to be a massage therapist because I just applied for a school but I am so confused because I will be taking student loan as well that I will have to pay after graduation but I am not sure if it’s gonna be worth it or not
I'm planning to go work in usa soon... As a massage therapist I'm a registered nurse but I'm planning to work there.... How much the exact you within in 1month...please let me know how much you earn in 1month
