I hope it works for you buddy! Thanks for watching and supporting my friend!
Good job Brother! It looks really nice. I've only ever done one of them. Your method looks easier. Thanks for sharing! Take care
It took me a while to get a good method and a lot of broken willows but I have a good system now! Glad you liked it and really appreciate your support brother!
Nice job. Ive made a few willow hoops myself with a similar technique . Difference is i tie about four loose loops of twine around each willow stick and slide them towards the leverage end of the sticks as im bending them. I just flip the loop over the next nail to hold it until im ready to bend it some more. That takes place of all of that nailing and tearing up your plywood even more. I think its quicker as well.
Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming.
That's a great idea my friend! I will try that! Thank you for watching and supporting!!
I'm glad you posted this Mark. I'm going to try it with that beaver I just caught. I have a willow tree and I tied several limbs back into a curve. Hoping in a few weeks when I cut them they will keep some of the curve.
Glad you liked it brother and hope it helps! I use whole young willows! Good luck and let me know how it turns out for you my friend!
this turned out great . nice job on the hoop and process .
Thank you brother! As many beaver as you're catching there might not be enough willows lol! Really appreciate your support my friend!

Man, awesome tutorial! I was actually curious about doing this with shark hide!
I got two beaver hides frozen. I am going to try the wood stretcher on the first. Will probably try this on the second. Good video, thanks for sharing!
Glad I could help! I think they look so nice! Thank you for watching and supporting my friend!
That will definitely keep you out of trouble. Lol. Looks good.
Fantastic job Mark! I’ve been wanting to hoop some of mine but I haven’t been able to find any willow trees around here. Thanks for showing us your technique brother! 😊👍👏👏👏🔥
There's plenty around here wherever it's wet ground and the farmers want me to take as many as I want lol! Glad you enjoyed the video brother and really appreciate all your support my friend!
Great video, Mark. Looks like a lot of work, but turned out great.

Thank you for watching and all your support brother! I always enjoy seeing yours on your lives!!
I might make one of those next year
Glad you liked and hope it was helpful buddy!! Thank you for watching and supporting my friend!
All my life I have been infatuated with Mountain Men and Longhunters, as a young man I trapped beaver and muskrat and tanned them and put them on hoops, hoop construction was never the same twice as I always made progress with each one!
They turned out good, my mother didn’t like them in my room, she said my room looked like the inside of a Indian teepee, success, on my part. I miss my youth!
I hear ya buddy! I think I was born 100 years to late! Thank you for watching and supporting my friend!

In Colorado Seating on a mountain side in late September, with my custom Flintlock JP Beck in .50 cal, on my lap, with a bull tag, the breeze starting to rise up the hill from thermal warming, looking at the flaming Aspen trees in the early morning sunlight, bulls bulging far off in the distance, camp jays following and hounding me, that’s as close being a Mountain Men as I got in the 20th century!
So interesting Mark, seems like it is very time consuming work but rewarding. Was wondering, if you soaked the willow branches would it make it more pliable? Great video
I think it would help but I do them green as soon as I cut them! Thanks for watching and supporting my friend!
Very cool nice work.
I have a old beaver my Dad done years ago been trying to figure out what to do with it.
What do you have for wood you nail it to plywood?
It's just cheap particle board that I got free from work but plywood would work! I hope it helps you and thank you for your support buddy!
Thanks for posting this! Nice work Mark. Does your GoPro freeze??
You're very welcome my friend sorry I didn't get it out to ya sooner! I have a Hero 7 white that has an internal battery and acted like it wasn't charging? It's working now! Glad you liked the video and really appreciate all your support my friend!
Cool setup Mark. Do you get many beaver pelts? I have seen all the coyotes you harvested.
I buy the beaver hides from another trapper just for orders but plan on trapping them next season! Thank you for watching and supporting my friend!
Nice job Mark ... what other kind of saplings or wood can be used if you don't have access to willow ? thanks !
I've heard of people using grape vine but I've only used willow! Maybe poplar? Thank you for watching my friend!
I have been wanting to do that, gotta find the time to hunt for willow
We have them all over here wherever there is a wet spot!! Farmers tell me to take all I want lol! Thanks for watching and supporting buddy I really appreciate it!!
@@MarkJLarsonOutdoors too much public land around me (odd thing to complain about) so I sort of want to find some before getting the permit to cut some.
Nice ! Im fixing to do some myself . I dont have willows , so I think Im gonna try grapevine . Think that will work ?
I've heard of people using grapevine but never done it myself! Good luck with everything my friend and thank you for your support!
Question can I use other wood then willows and how long are your saplings and approximate diameter? Is it better certain times of the year to cut them?
I only use willows but if you can find anything limber enough and won't crack should be ok! The spring is the best time to get them! Thank you very much for watching and supporting my friend!
Cool techniques on that one how much they going for??
I usually sell them for $100- $150 depending on size! Thank you for watching and supporting my friend!
109th!
What type of willow do u use
I'm not sure they grow wild in wet spots so I get the young ones when they are green! Farmers tell me to take them all lol!! Thanks for watching and supporting my friend!
Looks like you have done that a time or two!!!!
A few times Lol! Thanks for watching buddy I really appreciate it!!
Look s real nice but could you have use dowel made out of the willow i just thought so you didnt have to use metal you know just idea ex video
I suppose anything is possible but the nails are easier! Thank you for watching and commenting my friend!!
I've had 9 pieces of steel drilled or plucked out of my eyes over the year's. Be careful with no glasses buddy. 😎
I know I usually wear safety glasses but forgot them this time! Thanks for your concern and support my friend!
Can I ask how much you sell them for?
Prices are way down I only got $5 a piece but I don't do it for the money! Thanks for watching!
@@JR-3030 Sorry I thought you were talking about the coyote hides! The beaver hoops I sell for $150!
Ok that's what I was wondering! Great how to video. I have tanned mine but never done hoops.
Where's your safety glasses?!
Sorry buddy usually I wear them but got in a hurry trying to film it! Thank you for watching buddy!
Very nice! Neat way to display a pelt.
