Since I was a kid in the 1960s, our country has had a “war on drugs.” Drugs are one of the most controlled items in American. To get fentanyl legally, you need a prescription. Yet, deaths from drug overdoses exceeded homicides. Most are from illegally obtained drugs often laced with fentanyl. After six decades of a war on drugs, the percentage of deaths from drugs are at a very high level. The effort of our government to control drugs had been a massive failure. Why should we expect government control of guns to work?
JD Vance’s comments actually were very good. He did make suggestions on how we reduce this problem. He made a “common sense” suggestion. But, Democrats do not care about solving problems. They want these problems to continue so they can continue to put more power in the hands of Washington DC. All the while promising to solve the problems.
