A friend had to fly from NZ to UK when her father died. On the leg from Dubai she was surrounded by a hen party. After 36 hours on the go she didn't need it, asked to be moved to a quieter part of economy, but the Emirates crew manager let her use the shower and have a first class bed for the last few hours of the trip. Amazing service.
Whats a Hen party? Is it a British expression for a bachelorette party or something else as I can't comprehend how you'd have a party on a plane in economy. Not that people wouldn't try but my mind is just like...no, it's too cramped. Still very nice of the crew tho.
As an ex emirates crew I can confirm that a lot of business and first class meals are the same, first class just has some extra dishes and they’re presented on a plate. We used to plate meals in business class but it was too time consuming having one person in the galley plating 76 meals, so they started making them pre plated a few years ago which saved our lives 😅.
That's why I read all of Paul's reviews and also take them totally authentic. I also find the clear info details an tricks/strategies you use or have used when you book. Just got off a long night shift at the hospital and this has been a treat watching your video. Now I can drift off to sleep, dreaming of being able to fly this beautiful aircraft and enjoying the benefits of business or first class!
Flew on the top deck on one of AF's Ex-A380s in Nov, 2019 (CDG-JFK). Even though just in Economy, it was a great and memorable experience. Thanks for the new video and greetings from Germany.
Loved our Emirate experience Akl-Dubai-London. Arrived absolutely refreshed with zero jet lag after good food, great shower and a good sleep. And I’ve still got the writing kit as a nice memory :-)
In 1999 a work colleague and I flew Emirates First Class from Dubai to LHR. They were experimenting with a software program that would allow passengers in adjacent seats to watch the same movie at the same time. We were the guinea pigs and so watched movies and quaffed Champagne for the entire flight, and let the IT tech know what problems we encountered. I’ve flown Emirates a number of times, mostly Business Class, and thoroughly enjoyed the service and experience every time.
Thank you. I've flown J on the 380 a few times but not F. You're brave flying now - the horror stories about delays and reduced service in lounges etc - I'm looking at you, BA - have put me off flying, perhaps forever.
You know what would be great fun when it opens up again, seeing a transatlantic crossing on the Queen Mary 2! That would be something different and interesting!
New subscriber, I love the channel. I gotta say I love flying first with Emirates, I travel Glasgow - Bangkok around 3-4 times a year. Each year I always treat myself and book first class at least one trip. The other trips are usually business, still a good service though. Love it when the chauffeured car arrives at my house because that's when I know my holiday has begun.
Thanks Paul for the review, living in western Canada I haven't had the opportunities to fly emirates and embarrassed to say I haven't flown on the A380 yet. One of my goals once restrictions are lifted. I enjoy T2 at Heathrow, the only dislike is the announcement of gates prior too boarding, or lack of. I love upgrades and ways to gain lounge access. It just makes for a better experience. Cheers to you catching a flight 6 days in advance, and upgrading to first, that's awesome. I can't wait to start travelling again!
Brilliant trip report! Their service didn't seem to change despite the pandemic. The food looked really nice. It's always cool to be able to take a shower in the sky.
Really enjoyed this, I have only flown business and economy with Emirates myself and completely agree with your thoughts on the cabin finish. It’s much nicer than your would think from images and videos.
Just subscribed to your channel Paul and I’m very impressed with your review style and delivery. Basically, it’s how I would check out this service were I in your place. Very relatable. Just catching up on your vids, but 👍
Thanks for this, loved watching it!! I’ve never flown Emirates but any trip report in first (and especially so at the moment) is special. Can’t wait to get back in the air soon!
Yes, I've traveled on an A380 upper deck. Air France from Dulles to De Gaulle. Most of the upper deck was business, but a small section in the rear was some sort of economy plus. Figured I'd sit there instead of with the hordes the deck below. And since I was on the upper deck, I boarded that way, and the lines were significantly shorter compared to everyone queuing up for the lower deck. Sitting on the upper deck is interesting because due to the curvature of the windows, you wind up with a little storage cubby in the wall, which was kinda fun.
Great video Paul, I genuinely hadn’t realised that you’d not taken a first class Emirates flight before. Definitely worth the upgrade, I thought the service was very good given what everyone was dealing with at the time. Best bit? “I’ll have a champagne please” 😄 Good on you! So glad you enjoyed the trip!
I had a privilege to fly on Emirates 1st class once in 2019 from Dubai back to Singapore and loved the experience !! Great review mate and please travel safe !
Was 1st class couple of years ago London Dubai Japan . Preferred 777er aircraft. Excellent service apart from one or two things not working or broken. Non locking tray, head phones not working and louvred slats from sliding door fell out on the flight.brilliant airline to use
I’m right there with you with the anticipation and excitement about upcoming trips, even the ones that are months and months away. I’m just waiting a few more months for the world situation to improve before I commit any funds, but will be taking an around the world trip starting in Dubai-Florida-Hawaii-Guam via the full 5-stop Island Hopper-Manila-Singapore, and back to Dubai JAN-FEB 2022. Fingers crossed.
Loved the video Paul. I LOVE Emirates, amazing airline, although I've only ever flown 'BIZ' with them, never 1st. The weird thing is, on all 18 of my 'Biz' flights with them (so far), the majority of the 1st class passengers seem to always end up in the 'BIZ' bar at the back of that beautiful plane, mingling with us lesser humans. Best regards.
great to see you back! I did fly Emirates to Dubai Business pre-pandemic. The bar area was brilliant. Great service and nice to be able to move around! Flew on to Chennai on 777 business, good, but not a touch on the A380 :-)
I’ve done the Kangaroo route (AUS to the UK) over 25 times. The very best is always on Emirates and especially upstairs on the A380. Great aircraft, spacious, quiet and Emirates staff are very good.
In 2009 I flew from Christchurch to Sydney in First Class, as Emirates upgraded me for that leg of the journey (my husband and I were flying back home to the UK). My husband remained in Economy. Yes, First Class was nice, but to be honest I was glad to return to Economy for the rest of the journey (even though it wasn't so comfortable). I felt pretty isolated 'up front' for the three hour flight. I once heard a couple say that they were not going to fly Economy - or 'cattle class' as they described it. There was certainly nothing wrong with Emirates Economy class on our return trip to New Zealand.
I know this would seem an unusual request but I'd like to see how the different classes compare from a wheelchair's point of view from going through baggage check-in on to arrival at your destination
I flew economy with Emirates on the top deck back (basically where you were sat but on the other side) in the summer, the window seat itself wasn't any different but the storage bins and lack of a seat outside gave a lot more room to stretch out
It looked more than comfortable. I would never be brave enough to shower on an aircraft. I would worry that the plane might head into a dive while I was starkers! LOL! And even worse, that I needed to evacuate while still starkers!!!! Thank you for the video!
The food does look the same as business. Saved up my skywards points and flew business coming back to Europe from my last trip home to Australia back in 2018. I was supposed to go home in 2020, now I just hope I can get back in 2022 😅
If you just want to try the EK First Class cabin, the cheapest option may be Bangkok to Hongkong which is around £400 one way or £600 return. Not a bargain for a 3h flight each way, but an interesting option to try the product out.
What a great video what can I say there’s only one word I can say with emirates airline wow I could live with that if I had to fly emirates the food looked outstanding I can’t believe you can have a shower at 45,000 feet that’s incredible great video Paul look forward to your next one
As much as I enjoy watching travel videos and longing to travel again, at times like this I stay at home and don’t even travel within my own home country (Sweden) more than absolutely needed, which is usually only to the neighbor town 20km away, or like on Wednesday, driving to a town almost 80km away to get the first dose of covid vaccine. Will take a long time still before I will travel outside my home region, let alone abroad. But most definitely have some trips I’d like to make once we’re in safer times again! The sleeper train to Kiruna is one trip I’d like to make, cruise to Helsinki is another, maybe I’ll even combine them and cruise to Helsinki, take sleeper train to Rovaniemi and then go over to Sweden and the Kiruna mountains before taking the sleeper train home from Kiruna, or maybe the other way around. I just know it’s places I’d like to go to or go to again (spent a lot of my childhood in the north) so that’s my dream for when we can travel more safely again. Also my best friend and I will be able to visit each other once it’s safer to travel again, I live in Sweden and my best friend lives in the UK
Love the A380, travelled BA Club World LHR-LAS back in 2018 and the experience was amazing. Should have been going LHR-LAS Club World in an A350 last September however due to pandemic it was cancelled. Looking forward to making the trip next year.
On the food difference (or lack thereof) between first and business class, I was lucky enough to upgrade from economy to business class flying from Auckland to Dubai, and the food and food service blew me away, it was that good. So perhaps there's not much room to improve? Especially since aircraft cabin dryness and pressure really messes with your tastebuds anyway?
Thanks for that - I'm looking at migrating to SE Asia later in the year, so little tips like this are very useful. The upgrade cost seems very reasonable. and definitely worth thinking about :)
Seeing the issues with the plane's APU. When I flew back from JFK to LHR a few years ago, we had to wait on the tarmac about 15 minutes before we could proceed to our gate, because the outgoing Delta flight was stuck at the gate and had an issue with its APU. The flight crew were having difficulties getting the engines started. They got them going in the end.

Great video as always, Mr! Terminal 2 is my home-terminal at LHR, as I almost only fly Star Alliance-carriers. The A380 is a great aircraft to fly on. I've flown it in eco on Lufthansa, eco, premium eco and biz on Singapore Airlines, and first class on Asiana. It's always a treat :)
Great Video Paul! Having Loganair change the destination from City to Heathrow is a great catch in my opinion. Definitely allows us islanders easier connections. We're slowly opening up here on the IOM, hopefully you can visit us sometime!
Paul the first class food menu is identical to Business class. However, in first class you have a soup as an option. Also, there are additional choices and you can dine on demand. Hope that clarifies your statement about no difference in meals between business and First class.
I must say Emirates is a really great service in first class. They are all good when you travel first class but Emirates really does stand out and especially now in a pandemic you can get great extras for your price
Who else heard King 777s GE90 spooling up from 8:54 to about 9:00. The Triple Seven is definitely the KING while the 747 is the Queen. 👏👏👏 Nice Choice Paul... You're really on top of your game amongst fellow AVGEEKS.
Great video mate, EK F is always a treat. Look forward to when they move back to LHR T3 where you can board directly from the lounge. Any plans to try their Gamechanger on the 777? I'd highly recommend it
Cheers! Yep I’ll do them again when I can - they aren’t really to my taste but tbh they’re a very solid airline and almost no skimping whatsoever even during covid is a big plus. Hoping to do the 777 maybe late this year! Keep well 👍🏻

WELL DONE PAUL. I'VE KEPT TELLING YOU AND NOW YOU HAVE DONE IT!!!
Top deck on Qantas from Sydney to LAX, but all the way in the back.
And yes, we liked the tail camera too. 😃
Paul the first class food menu is identical to Business class. However, in first class you have a soup as an option. Also, there are additional choices and you can dine on demand. Hope that clarifies your statement about no difference in meals between business and First class.
Love flying with Emirates! Great video!
Awesome review of one of the best airline companies out there. Thanks for sharing.
Great to see someone back in the air at last. Good luck to you.
I must say Emirates is a really great service in first class. They are all good when you travel first class but Emirates really does stand out and especially now in a pandemic you can get great extras for your price
I missed your videos, its been a while since a new one came out!
Loved it...and that upgrade...awesome
VIELEN LIEBEN DANK...FRIEDEN und FREIHEIT...
As always a pleasure to watch
Who else heard King 777s GE90 spooling up from 8:54 to about 9:00. The Triple Seven is definitely the KING while the 747 is the Queen. 👏👏👏 Nice Choice Paul... You're really on top of your game amongst fellow AVGEEKS.
I love watching your videos, always makes me want to try these trips, then I remember I can't afford petrol to work tomorrow 😂😭
Another great video, been so long since the last one. Hopefully I'll get upstairs on an A380 sometime. I just wish the video lasted longer.
Fantastic as ever, Paul - well worth the upgrade as a treat!
Keep well 👍🏻
Good to see you on the move again Paul. Vicarious travelling is the best I can manage right now!
