THE NOMADS OF AFGHANISTAN

- Kandahar Afghanistan, This is my second attempt at trying to visit a Nomadic family, last time they were all in the forest (different location). This time i was able to go in, at first the man would only allow me in to talk to the women, then he allowed the guys in and told the women to go to the other tent, so i had nobody to translate in the beginning...im working on getting someone to translate this for me. These Nomads live in such harsh conditions and dont have much...i will never forget this woman and her kindness and despite everything she had a sense of humor.
These people used to have flocks of sheep, but due to the drought now many only have a few animals left that they keep for Eid. Tents made from sheets and blankets and whatever else they can find...I cant even imagine how hot it gets in summer, and cold at night now and in winter. These moments were moments ill never forget and will always wonder what happened to them .

If anyone still wants to help there is still time , I will make a vlog about the whole process! I’m so looking forward to seeing her again , and the whole family… thank you everyone!! ❤️❤️ you will see where you money goes and what a difference it will make 🥰🙏
Thanks Emma
RANGO'S HAND'S
I took a trip to nomads land only to find a little old lady who needed a helping hand
We sat together as she showed me her hands
That's when her story began
These hands of mine are a map of my life now all rough, wrinkled and cracked with lines
These hands tells a story I once lived
These hands that once protected and smoothed
These hands once so strong that I could carry the weight
These hands that took little but always gave
These hands once held everyone I loved
These hands that held my husband tight
These hands that now reveal a life I fully lived
These hardworking hands with calloused fingers worked to the bone
These hands now twisted with age and years of hard work
These hands each day keeps growing old
These hands now pray for strength to the Almighty above
To answer my prayers for some food, warmth and a long blessed life
As I rub Rango's hands to ease her pain and sadness my heart starts to melt
As I hold her hands I see the hands of a warrior strong and courageous
A woman who survived what many of us could not have survived
A woman who's heart still shimmers like gold
I see the hands of a warrior where we call them breve hearts back home
Now that fate has brought me to her, with your help, support and generosity it's time for us all to give her a helping hand to make her comfortable in her senior years...
Awwww lovely 🥰
@@WanderingEmma Thank you Emma. I've just transferred my donation into your PayPal account. My Allah bless you and everyone else taking part in this good cause. She was not asking for food but even though she didn’t have anything she was offering you food. She kept asking you if you want something to eat
Yes , many people have mentioned that in the comment… I already said I didn’t know what she was saying… how would I ? I don’t speak Pashto and the guys weren’t able to come with me at that time …
Yeah you r right
yeah bro this is how we Afghans are . we are kind with every one
We are rich by heart ❤️
It’s called the Afghan great people hospitality

@@nayabalmass1920 my grandpa went on a boat to UK in the early 1900S , then he seen a billboard that showed jobs in Canada and Freeland, he jumped on a boat to Canada and they gave him citizen ship right when he landed in Canada the same week , and thats how we ended up in Canada we still speak Pushtu but not the same dialog as you guys but i understand everything in these videos but my siblings dont speak Pushtu only English , we have never left Canada since and are still brown culture but Canadians but i will visit Afghanistan & pesawher soon someday.
When i was there as a US Army guy i was always fascinated by the nomads, they never bothered us or anyone else and we never bothered them. Such an ancient way of life and so interesting how they still exist today.
It was a really random great experience to meet them so close like this and so unplanned and random

She was actually asking you if you are hungry and she was offering and inviting you to eat food.
She said : I'm sorry we don't have much food but we have little bit of bread and told the girls to bring you or make you something to eat.
She apologized many times and was ashamed that they don't have much to offer you.
My pashto isn't good, i could only understand a few words and i tried my best to make sentences out of those words.
Yes I realise that now that someone translated for me also , she was so lovely and kind … will never forget her
@@WanderingEmma I'm glad you had the chance to experience and know the way they live as Nomads.
Unfortunately there have been a lot of fighting between them and people of different cities because nobody wanted their grass and hay getting eaten by the sheeps and goats of Nomads, and also Nomads sometimes overused and took advantage of people's hospitality and kindness and these things have led them to be known as the group of people who are uneducated, old minds, not knowing how to behave themselves, and people who will destroy and steal the reserves hay of other people.
Many afghans no matter which ethnicity, most of them have been told by their parents that Nomads aren't good people and Nomads want to live like that although there are plenty of free land where they can build houses but they don't want to live normal and send their kids to school and try to becoming city people.
One of the main reason some people don't like them is the fact that they oppress their women and children.
Children don't go to school, and girls reaching 13/14 will be married and having children.
Thank you for translating, i can't understand even one word pashto and I'm very sad about it,
I'm trying to learn because if we want them to speak dari and know 2 languages, then we also should know 2 languages 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Thank you for translating. It brings tears to my eyes to realize she wasn’t asking for food; she was asking if her guest was hungry and offering food, and ashamed of not having much to offer her guest. Tears in my eyes… Such a wonderful culture of hospitality.
@@Anahitaaryan8758 you welcome, yes exactly our people complain about Islamic Emirate talking most of the time in pashto and they want them to speak dari and know 2 languages but they themselves can't speak 2 languages ⛔⛔
You know it's a matter of being rational and logical but most of our people who want them to talk dari, are extremely irrational and illogical 🤔🤔
I hope we learn to accept others more and stop being such a irrational people !
OMGGGG I LOVE THIS VIDEO!! She's so sweetttt.. She prayed so much for Emma and one time she said “is she unmarried or a bride? “ 😂she liked you lot Emma. 26:46 she's like “Emma maki waraka “ meaning may Emma never disappear(something like that)
well come to afghanistan
I really love this old lady, when she was holding your hand it brought tears 😢
very emotional, just amazing
This is such a beautiful video. I’m an Afghan living in the US and hearing Rungo speak reminded me so much of my grandmother who lived in Kandahar. Her mannerisms and kindness are so similar. Thank you Emma, and the amazing translators for making this video possible. I felt honored to hear and understand Rungo speak.
Where are you from?
Loving your travels especially through Afghanistan 🇦🇫. Incredible people
I am very happy that tourists are coming to our country and I am very optimistic about the future of my country. Afghans are very hospitable and loving people. These people and their children will be educated. We Afghans are the victims of a foreign war. We grabbed your hand and asked for money. Actually, this was not the mood of the Afghans. They are very poor.Welcome to Afghanistan. And thank you for showing us to the world that we are human beings like you and have the right to live. I hope that you will show the positive side of Afghanistan to the world. Thank you.
Love from Kandahar Afghanistan ❤❤❤🇦🇫🇦🇫🥰🥰
Emma! At 3:05 she is asking whether you had food or not because she wants to offer you food even though she says we don't have food. Secondly, these nomads have no problem if you got a translator with you. Things went wrong when you asked them whether I can take a man with me or not. In fact, she is so funny, I wish you could understand her own words. She thought as if you are a doctor and your translators can't convey her message properly.
She is such a lovely woman! I wish you could understand the things she told you and asked about you.
Thank you for the Kind Translation Two weeks later *Emma* Went back with Food Tents shoes and Clothes,
Thank you for showing this to the world. Giving a voice to the voiceless and doing more for them than anyone has ever done.
We appreciate your work Emma.
May God bless you.
I’ve had so many offers to donate help to these lovely people … just spoke with someone who pay pal me $200 and he’s gonna ask his other family members, so if I get enough ( which I should) I will personally take the long drive down and show what we bought and show you all in a vlog .. emmagray3@aol.com is my pay pal if anyone wants to help us help then … 🙏🙏 huge thanks to Bilal in USA for starting with his donation 🥰

Thanks Emma, that you took a video from those colourful, Kochi women🥹✌️🇦🇫
Those kids are sooo cute ( despite not having the hygenic facilities and to shower) makes ones heart melt by just looking at their innocent beautiful faces
They actually do shower but they’re always outside playing. Nomads are always near rivers and regularly wash themselves. I’ve been one myself 😆
These kids are pure kids. No bad influence in them

These are the purest Afghans (Iranic Nomadic Aryans ) they are living the ancient lifestyle of central Asians .. Simplistic way of life ..

@@BashirM-vq9bx Tajiks are not Persian. Only Herat can be considered Persian they also carry Nautfian ancestry like other Persians. The rest of Tajiks are descendants of Sogdians and Pashtuns are likely descendants of Bactrians.

She is so cute and kind, thank you Emma 👍👍👍👌👌👌❤❤❤🇦🇫
Beautiful. Nomads are very tough, wise and experienced people. If it gets warm they move into the mountains and cooler areas, when it gets cold they nove to south where the weather is warmer. They walk thousands of kilimeters and sometimes big families with 5 to 600 camels , thousands of sheeps and goats. They are tribes. The Afghan traditional clothes are originally nomads cloths. They are mainly pashtoons and live directly in the nature. They don't like walls or sealing over their head. The Afghan King Zahir Shah used to protect them. They don't have money but they do good exchange while they pass cities or villages. Like a sheep for 3 sack of wheat etc. If you see nomads visit them they love guests and protect them. They are very generous. Beautiful video. Thanks, you made my day., ♥️💐👍🏼🏵️🌸
The Afghan traditional clothes are originally from the Ghilzai tribe. The nomads (Kochi) are also from the Ghilzai tribe and they are mainly located in today's Afghanistan.
@@ChachiMogo true.
I just watched this video on UA-cam you filmed the nomads of Afghanistan and the chats between you and the old nomadic lady Rango Bibi melted my heart so after watching I just heartedly wanted to thank you for the help and filming these vulnerable people.
I appreciate you for your trip to Afghanistan, you are the bravest woman.
I have nothing else to make you happy rather than to thank you , you made my day with your video.
Thank you so much.
May God Bless You and wish you all the best.
Awww thank you so much for your kind words , that was a very special experience for me and just so random … a day I will never forget … thank you 🙏🥰
Very good program Emma .. the guide this time is much better than last time in Kandahar. He is very knowledgeable of Pashto literature and is honest person .. one thing to remind him is to translate directly and objectively not subjectively. One point the nomad says she travels more freely and without worry in this regime.. and he translates something else
Rungo loved you so much that she approached you like her own sister or daughter, you might have sensed at the time they were with very open hearts with little to have but with big open hearts she is comparing her skin to yours as it might remind her who old is she getting might miss her young age. She is experiencing a difficult time in her life at the moment. THANK YOU VERY MUCH EMMA YOU ARE OUR VOICE TO THE WORLD AND THOSE WHO HELPED!
Thank you all for helping them, amazing God bless all.
Several times, she offered Emma her piece of bread, the piece of bread they have at the moment. She apologized many times and was ashamed that they don't have much to offer you.
OMG 😭 reminds me of my grandma, what a grand people. Rango is a natural born leader, such authentic soul, that begining being thankful for this life, God, seeing you and worried for the sick. She was asking them to bring u last piece of bread and if u had medicine for the sick, she thought u might, they don't have access to right medication for sick both economic reasons lack of access and what she showed was not working and when meds dont work same doc. perscribe more of them, the mix may even cause adverse effects. It is unfortunate that technology is not utilized to solve problems at such basic levels to preserve human diversity, perhaps we will create SOLUTIONS prior to future civilization judging us unkindly, as the divide is growing and we forget our spirit light is same. Still, genuine explorers as yourself Emma give us hope, opening our eyes to how colorful diverse as Rango yet similar our fight is, doorway to possibilities for betterment, to stand by each other to survive as the Pashtu proverb translates, "If I say: I am to stay and you say: I am to stay, in end neither will stay. If I say: you are to stay and you say: you are to stay, we will both stay (survive)". Bless you Emma, you touched that lady's heart in ways only she understands and def. one of her valuable moments of 80 years living such a difficult life, yet lively spirit. That sudden jump shock in her eyes when she first noticed you. ❤️

Far had I don’t know if you’re just uneducated or just plain ignorant, the kuchis have lived this way and decided to live this way. They’re not oppressed and are just living their life the way they want.
They are not oppressed. They are noamds
wow Amazing. I like your journey in Afghanistan. I am from Afghanistan and have not ever met these people because of security or whatever. It seems that they are really hardworking people, but I am really sorry for the kids, women and how they are living.
Its so nice to see all of this and so nice of you to go there and record these people, who will soon vanish.
Due to wars we have lost all our civilization.
American and European invaders killed so many of these families that will never be forgiven, and will never be forgotten.
Americans do not know any humanity, they killed hundreds of thousands of our people
Your videos are so purely honest & raw ❤ so glad both of you could help them but most likely neither the children or the women will get shoes because for nomads their livestock is first priority & then their bellies. Till next upload, safe travels.
Eye opening video. It’s crazy how much we have when so many people don’t have the basics. Not even one pair of shoes when we have closets full 😢

I love the video, shows the culture of my nation, the purity of the native, non-political people, unfortunately the real victims of the ongoing political conflicts... Thank you for making this video... I am formar U.S military translator, translating these kind of conversation is my speciality, specially now that I live in the U.S with understanding the culture of the U.S people, this could be translated better... I would suggest, if you could, hire someone to translate it again and have it as a subtitle...(of course some additional cultural understanding is required to fully understand). But overall, I love it

The elderly lady is super nice and kind
Thanks for having time with our helpless people 😢
Welcome to Afghanistan 🇦🇫 ❤
Thx you for helping her
The old woman is asking, if you need food and she orders to the other women to bring food for you.
Thats their hospitality towards you, even they are poor.
She is scratching her ears with the key because they have no money to even buy simple tools.
She prays for your success, god should save you. She says evertime she prays for you. Even her sick husband says I pray for you and they only want god should save you.
And she asks for help, they have not much.
Man people of them died by NATO bombardements, and she asks if they are not bringing more war now.
The translator assures her the good will of Emma and the foreign viewers.
That white dress translator his English 👏🏻 very good and he done his job very good
She was offering you food, not asking for food!!! She asked many times if you had eaten? Hope you can do use this a learning experience and pass/practice on this gesture in your own community.
Anytime, every foreigner came to our country people thought that they are doctors. They are rich they have a lot of money but in fact it’s the opposite. I’m glad that you have two translators.
The lady was opposite, feeling bad as not having to offer much to the point she was second guessing its less food but still food. As a kid, I remember once our car broke in middle of nowhere, we were hosted by nearby nomads to eat and stay as long as needed. That day, I felt home regardless of where we were. The translators make errors saying they are here to help with money: as the interaction may become superficial as a party may focus on their share of pie, gladly wasnt the case with such wise woman, best is to have that authentic human interaction in begining even if meaning to help towards the end. It is more powerful to stand by fellow human on basis of empathy than to just offer money on basis of sympathy. This will familize their mind to tourists in how we would like them to be shaped, evolution in action. Hopefully they will not become corrupt in the process as some in big cities got with US tax dollar booms in last 20 years with no accountability, but I doubt it with nomads as they have strong will to stay as they are. They live life so independtly that they rarely ask for anything, only as last resource or when in dire conditions as you can see by their stuff they could have had extras of shoes and what not, it is much worth it to help them anyway, perhaps the women can be encouraged to start selling garment, or tourist can help establish this behaviour/micro economy for women and pay women for stuff, to empower women. Opening doors to more tourism can be helping hand both to cities women to join and explore the country with tourists as they would be trusted easily than men and also to these women. The male translators skipped so much of gender specific issues she was trying to get into. Bravo to both Emma and Rango, kept the flag high all way up!
Thank you so much my dear Emma
Sharing videos l love you so much 😘🇦🇫🇦🇫
