The group of artists that make the giant articulated creatures is called Royal de luxe. I saw the elephant in Le Havre and it was absolutely beautiful.
there was an elephant made by royal de luxe a long time ago. That elephant is gone and many of the creators are now in this group called Les Machines. Royal De Luxe still exists but does not do the robotic aspect of things, they do giant marrionettes. They're in Nantes as well!
Living in Nantes, i can tell you that Le carrousel, l'élephant and other méchanical créatures stay there all the year long, and they take them out in the summer. ANd that's not the only creazy artisitique realisation in Nantes, there also is Le voyage à Nantes wich is just awesome. you should check it on google !
Wow Caleb!! That looks like a mind blowing event, even compared to Bay Area... such a shift in artistry and scale of some of those works... side note, what steady cam rig are you using? Very nice shots.
I completely agree. This faire absolutely blows Bay Area out of the water. We don't have variety other than 3d printers, drone and useless tech and corporate sponsors. This on the other hand is REAL art and REAL beauty. It makes me want to go so badly no matter where it is. Bay Area REALLY needs to step up their game. It the same recycled projects year in year out over here. I don't think I'll be going next year because to be honest I was not all that impressed...
It was incredible. The art and makers were fantastic. I wouldn't say it blows bay area out of the water though. I mean, Les Machines is impressive, but bay area has more diversity, and much much more community (well, it just has more people). I'd say this was maybe 1/10th the size. Les Machine's work is just so impressive it makes it appear more grand. I was using a DJI Osmo. I wasn't even really working hard to keep it steady. There is some footage in there shot from my DSLR as well.
Maker Faire in San Mateo is much bigger and sometimes has massive kinetic art. One year they had a 30 foot octopus that shoots flames from his tentacles (google el pulpo).
I know you like comments on your videos. What a shame that your commentary gets drowned out by imposed music. If I add in a feww charxnacters to this commnent you will apprelciate howe distraocting and annoyying is. So why of whey to you waeant you ruinps your commentalry. I am sure you will agreze that a feiuw added raundom characcters advds greaytly to readability. NOT NOT

not sure you could have been more stereotypical with your music choice for the vid...
I think it goes more with the carrousell / fair feel of the attractions rather than stereotypical french. Idk.
OVERALL GOOD BUT NEXT TIME MORE FOCUS ON ARDUINO AND ELECTRONIC THINGS

Please stop with accordion music and France. It is just irrelevant.
