Governments would have force these companies to do that right? As long as a government has some kind of profit from social media, they have less incentive to do that. Where I live, alcohol and tobacco have extra special taxes on them. I wonder to what extent would our government prefer to have no warnings. It would be great if we had warnings like that but I somehow doubt we'll see that in the near future.

In order to prevent it from happening, you would need to create an authoritarian censorship system which realistically will not ban "just that stuff". The scope of what will be banned and "tamed" will ever increase to a point where you will either have your voice silenced or be unable to realize that others have been, others that could have exposed you to blind spots in your thinking and changed your mind for the better or made you aware of the worse.
Let the kids do what they want. At the end of the day, it doesn't concern you, unless its you or your kid, in which you simply don't use it/don't let your offspring have access to it while under your roof. That is not a license to interfere in other people's content.

@@jbutler8585Oracle was legitimately interested, but the administration wasn’t willing to accept the proposed settlement (which was sort of a reverse US-Chinese joint venture with Bytedance as a “minority” owner). Oracle gets a ton of money anyways reviewing the code to satisfy national security requirements as well as for providing back-end services so they don’t care either way.
Fundamentally though there’s the bigger question if such a law is legal. I think it’s telling the Trump administration’s Department of Commerce pulled the request for a sale as it was heading for court and after multiple injunctions were issued. Most legal experts and judges in various lawsuits that have been decided since (see Montana v. TikTok specifically) say such a law is illegal.

USA Tiktok algorithm isn't specifically made to show horny or hateful content. It just get more views so get shown more. Though, the chinese tiktok algorithm is specifically made to show science type content, if tiktok refused to restrict the algorithm just to those content it would get banned in china.

Honestly, I believe that the level of spying would dramatically increase after the application becomes associated with the United States.

Byte Dance is based in Bejing, founded by 2 Chinese men, 20% of it's is owned by from Chinese investors and is also partially directly owned by the Chinese State along with the issue that there is *no such thing* as a Chinese *Privately* owned company due the unlimited reach the government has over it's businesses as well as mandatory party membership being required for part of the company's leadership (like Zhang Fuping).
