The storyline of the book reminded me of Plato's Cave Allegory. Maybe you know it. It was a big topic in my philosophy class and other classes too at my school. It's a vague narrative, about a group of people living in a cave their whole lives - they are tied up and can only look in one direction, the back of the cave. Behind them is a fire and people transporting things next to it, so the captured people see blurred shadows of the things on the wall their looking at. They only have their imagination telling them what those things are. One day, one person escapes the cave and sees the things that were transported next to the fire, which were nothing like the images the prisoners imagined. The one who escapes finally sees what the world outside the cave looks like - a sky, a sun, stars, nature, etc. So the escaped goes back to tell the other prisoners what the world outside of the cave can offer. After all, the imprisoned people don't believe the stories about the outside world. The story is about the conflict of your believe system, and how narrow mindedness can make people stuck within their own believes, which may not be the full truth at all.
Looove this I never thought about it that way but totally agree

Thank you 😚

I read I who have never known men and loved it! It was so eary and weirdly intimate, also pretty relatable since I read it at the beggining of covid lockdown. The book reminds me a lot of the paiting “christinas world” they just give of the same vibe 💗

Jacqueline Harpman is one of my favourite authors! She was a Belgian author and thus wrote in French. You should try to read some of her original work, I promise you won't regret it! She's got the most beautiful writing. In any case, I hope her poetry transpires as well in the English versions!
I am from Belgium and read that book in high school many years ago. Loved it! Thanks for commenting, the story sounded very familiar!

Anyone know where the white sweater from the first part in the video is from? 🫶
Me wondering how you got your camera up there 🤯
Eva downloading a video less than 10 mins is shocking
Watching poor things with my parents was…not the best decision 🥲

I would love to know if you usually speak to the dog in English. I thought you spoke French at home... but maybe the dog only understands English 🤔 😅

VERY NICE VIDEO EVA COMPLIMENTI BELLA ❤🩹💝💖💚💯💯💯💋💋💋💋CIAO EVA CIAO BELLA 💋❣
I randomly picked up I who have never known man a couple of weeks ago and I've yet to finish it. But i actually thought it was kinda weird and not in a good way. I enjoyed it in the beginning, but i felt it simply just got very repetitive as well as ridiculous at some point. The writing style was also not my favourite and the sudden time skips just felt odd after it was describing somthing randomly with intricate detail in the previous paragraph. I think the cosept of the book is good but in my personal opinion it was too short and badly executed.
Did you like poor things?
