  • I was having issues with my 300td running warm on the freeway. I replaced the radiator to resolve the issue.

😊 needed this video and thank you for time lapse. Shows how you removed it. Meaning angles and such. Keep up the great work!!

Just came across your video because my wagen is also running like 100c. I removed the radiator, which is dirty; I plan to take it to my local radiator shop to clean it.

After I replaced the radiator, my 83 wagon still went over 80c; now, I am considering replacing the water pump.

Mercedes sells citric acid powder that you dilute in water and run through the cooling system minus the thermostat to clean out any rust/debris.

Did it fix the problem you had with temperature climbing to 100c on highway? Im having similar issues with my W123 300 Turbo Diesel.

On what I presume to be the original radiator in my 85, the connection to the upper hose completely broke off including part of the tank, one look after opening the hood I knew I was in for a very bad day, problem is I was on a remote mountain road miles from civilization, had to haul it out of there on a car hauler, which was no easy task, all expenses involved were well over $1000. A close look you could see that over the years the plastic had become brittle and crystalized, it was a ticking time bomb and let go at about the worst possible time. Point is even if your radiator is still doing it's job, but has a lot of years on it, replace it, that Nissens radiator is $165, probably about 10% of what this failure has cost me.

It’s common for that upper connection to break on these.
