Well over 80% of that money was made because of taking advantage of buying high-end stocks at a deep discount during the Great Recession. 2009 I fired the stockbroker got rid of all mutual funds and bought individual dividend stocks. Be patient don't get scared and do your homework and you can make a killing

Time's changed mate. FII's have been selling since months now that too on daily basis but still our markets haven't shown that much weakness even after such huge selling pressure so i don't think anything like that can happen to indian markets!!
Umm, AFAIK he didnt mention (more juicy details) that ERM and all was tied to German Duetschemarks bcoz that was the strong currency at the time, he also didnt mention Soros had some plain good smartness i.e when its night over here its day at other end of world-meaning stock market over there is open, thats why he booked massive orders and through multiple companies. His Hedge fund betted actively on downfall of Pound. His Hedge Fund and all is/was in London-New York-Asian countries etc (you get the deal) he had first hand info of what was abt to hit high or crash the floor even before the computers were fed with data for normal public. So there you go , it was once in a lifetime unique opportunity - GS had hunger for power & personal vendetta for some things going against Germany/Hungary in WW2., there is no ERM for India, govt laws basically penalise you for having better maths skills than them & after Black Wednesday one would now only be a damn fool trying to score the banks prized possessions. (think indefinite jail time or even worse)
