This was absolutely the best tip! I had a super dehydrated orchid (I live in the desert). It has only 4 roots, with the longest being about 4 inches. After 2 days in the bag, it wasn't rehydrated and the leaves were still limp, yellowish, and bendy. But I repeated the process and left it in a grocery bag on the windowsill while I went on vacation for 2 weeks. When I returned, the orchid was healed! Leaves stiff, perky, and dark green. I am so excited to know this "orchid spa treatment!" Thank you so much!!
You are an orchid goddess!!! I just did this to my two dehydrated orchids and brought them back from the dead / thanks you thank you thank you for your genius
THANK YOU SO MUCH...I recently inherited a orchid farm (ive never had a plant before) im always searching for ways to save/care for orchids in terms i understand again thank you
@Classy Flowers - Do you think this could help a dehydrated phalaenopsis orchid that has only aerial roots remaining? The aerial roots are plentiful and appear to be pretty healthy, but the leaves are severely dehydrated. Your channel is the first place I turn to when looking for advice for my orchids. Thank you so much for taking the time to share what you’ve learned through your videos! ~xo
Can I also try this without cutting off the blooms? My blooms are still beautiful, in fact I had regrown them just a few weeks ago. But the green leaves are limp and dehydrated. I had two new green roots grow they are bright green and now about 2 inches long but the rest of roots that have been there from before they don’t look that wow unfortunately
You are probably a magician because without the special condition I’ve provided to the orchid in this video, it is really complicated and takes a long time. This method about how to rehabilitate very dehydrated orchids is fast and effective. I would be be happy to lean about your method.
@@Classyflowers some kind of green house but i have no roots and fungus and rotten body :(, so greenhouse and h2o2 is not very powerful to recover the orchids
I just got a very dehydrated orchid and repotted it. It only had 3 or 4 alive roots left! It has a green spike that I kept on, in case it would help with photosynthesis? Would you suggest I cut the spike? Also, I think I changed it into too big of a pot since it only had a few roots left, so I'm worried it will retain too much moisture now... should I repot it again? 😬
Ok so I gave my orchid a warm bath and removed all the dead stuff. There are 2 tiny green roots left but there looks like the nub of another one away to sprout! The leaves are very sad though. Trying this method. Wish me luck! 🌱
Try putting the orchid in black tea (no milk), and using full water culture. I had an orchid that was kept too wet and all the roots rotted, but tried this method. I now have a couple of very healthy roots.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video! My poor orchids are really looking sad, so I did precisely what you showed us to do and can’t wait to see what they look like tomorrow. I do have a question and that is if they don’t look better or show signs of rehydration should I start the process all over again with new moss?
Wow that was incredible I was. Like hot h2o 🙅♀️😣& somehow u made. It work. Trying this bought an orchid & I made a huge booboo but gonna use ur tips thx 4 the post.👋🌱😍👨🏫💫
Thank you so much for your video! I’m trying to save this orchid plant gifted to me from my best friend before she passed away. Followed your video and looks like the leaves are a bit firmer than before (didn’t help that we didn’t get much sun at all last few days). How long before I can start the watering routine again, after the 3 days process? I’m assume there’s still a lot of moisture in the potting mix (I used a orchid potting mix). Also, how much/ how often should I water, ideally? I was doing 4 ice cubes once a week before. Thanks for your advice!
Once you revive the orchid, do you transplant it into something else or keep it in the pot with the sphagnum moss? (I'm going to try this method with an orchid that I brought home from the office that was severely neglected while people were teleworking.)
I’m going to try this today. I have a question, I live in a very dry and cold place and it snows a lot in the winter. Where should I put my orchid and how often should I water it ?
Great video!! I just placed my orchids in a terrarium which started root rot. So now I removed them from the terrarium and they are just hanging out with their bare roots. I spray them with water now but currently don’t know if I should put them in their original pot with some sheet moss or if I can mount them in a drift wood. They still have flowers and are just 3 weeks old at home. Do have suggestions what I can do with them?
Hi! I'm desperately trying to save this orchid I received from someone. It was in really bad shape and I honestly thought it was dead. I followed your 3 day process and I actually see some new roots growing!! But I need help on what to do next. I was wondering if there was an email address or some way for me to message you so I can show pictures and see what I should do next.
If you have no leaves left. It is most likely rotten crown problem due to overwater. This method for severely dehydrated orchids. No chance I think. Thank you.
Could you please guide me as yesterday I dipped my orchids pots in water for few minutes and hanged them back on wall with netted pot. Today morni g I see I most of leaves are yellow and fall of even with just a touch. Hope you reply asap
If leaves falling out with just a touch most likely your orchid have a crown rotting problem. That is not a dehydration, so this method not going to help. But watch our video about this particular situation if you would like to save it: ua-cam.com/video/8XgOQQDwJR4/v-deo.html
Preserved moss you can buy online, dollar store, craft store. You can use this method with any type of substrate. Just with fresh moss it works better.
Why do you worry about fusarium? It is a part of normal soil microbiota. Most of fusarium species are harmless saprobes. Plastic bag needed just to increase humidity for the short period of time, which is natural, like during the rain season, for example. There are many symbiotic microorganism and mycorrhizal fungi actually found in the orchids velamen. Please watch our new video about this: ua-cam.com/video/1QpSC9wizuI/v-deo.html
That’s too bad. As long as I know saprophytic fungi is growing on already dead or rotten tissue of the plant, healthy orchids should stay untouched. I use my method for just dehydrated orchids, so it works all the time.
@Classy Flowers I didn’t even really notice your “unwashed” hands until this comment. I was too busy paying attention to your excellent content. Subscribed to the channel of a real, working, and knowledgeable florist not a hand model. ☺️

Will you keep the orchid in the sphagnum moss or put it in a different media?
I will leave orchid in the moss, for sure, I prefer the moss to any other media for numerous reasons.
Very nice techinic! I have several dehydrated ones, ccan we use this tech. on Vandas too?
My problem is that the orchid starts to mold when I do this:-( Any tipps? How can I prevent the molding? It has lost all the leaves too

Hi, can I do this with Phalaenopsis with no roots as well? And if not, what other suggestion. Thank you
Wow! As if by magic! Approximately how long before new flowers arrive, please?
After 3-4 months. Sick orchid needs to gain biomass first for successful blooming.
Thanks. Actually that's a shorter time than I expected 😄
