    Loving the time-lapse guys. The framing of the shot, stars, and then the mist and clouds washing over the tent. Awesome.

      Thanks it’s always pretty cool to see the end result of a Timelapse. I used the GoPro10 for this attached to a external battery. I think it was running from about 9pm to 7am

      @@AbelandVictoria We're staying on a farm on Baton Valley rd for 4 nights, and then Motueka for 6 nights. Would like to do some day tramps in the area. Any advice welcome🙂

      Thank you. It is very nice up there. I want to go down over the ridge and deep into the wilderness sometime maybe this summer. Might take a break from the Cobb for a bit tho been up there a lot recently.

    Round Lake is such a lovely spot, you guys showcased it well. Not sure I share your passion for those quilts, there good for gram saving but not convinced you can stay warm enough, although I have not actually tried one.

    • @AbelandVictoria
      @AbelandVictoria  2 роки тому

      The quilt is definitely different to a bag. I use both and the main difference relevant to me is the comfort. With the quilt you
      Don’t get any pulling of the fabric underneath when moving around at night. I tend to move a lot when I sleep so this is a great positive. My sleeping bag is 700 loft down with 20d nylon so it’s not exactly a light weight design compared with my 10d nylon 800 loft down quilt so the in conjunction with the inherent weight saving characteristics of a quilt it’s a lot lighter and more compact. I don’t have issue with losing warm air with my quilt maybe because I am aware of the risks of potentially letting a draft in. I think over all they are worth it especially when it’s not super cold.

    • @Longtack55
      @Longtack55 Рік тому

      I rarely use my Spark3 except as a quilt. A 3/4 length foam mat and Exped inflatable help to insulate. A quilt eliminates the thin compressed patches around shoulders and bum.

    • @AbelandVictoria
      @AbelandVictoria  Рік тому

      @@Longtack55 my brother has a spark 3. He has been having pretty bad condensation issue with water being trapped inside the out layer of fabric. Have you ever had this problem? He now uses the bag inside out and no issues a bit strange

    Nice light up on that ridge, worth the extra hike. 10kg feels good eh. Do you have a sunscreen recommendation? We've had to throw some because it was turning our clothes patchy orangey brown.

    • @AbelandVictoria
      @AbelandVictoria  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah go some nice photos up there. It does seem like you feel the weight more exponentially as it creeps up. I hate sunscreen but this neutrogena 30sfp stuff Victoria seemed to be pretty good didn’t smell or feel gross on.

  • @OutdoorsmanDave

    10kg is impressive Abel, was Victoria happy to carry the other 18kg for you? 😉
    Did yah fight over who got the awesome $3 KMart pillow?

    • @AbelandVictoria

      Lol we split the tent which was nice. I took the stove and snacks and Victoria had the dehydrated food. I packed all the camera gear which is getting rather heavy these days.

    There's a decent little tent site just before Round Lake and above and to the right of the track on a little knob about 50m from the lake.

    The drone would give an even better indication of how far away from the rest of the world you are, and how jagged the terrain is around there. I guess it was Anton's.

    • @AbelandVictoria

      I brought it with me but unfortunately once I got it out I realised I didn’t have the latest software installed so the app wouldn’t work. It was rather upsetting. Next time I’ll have it working.

      @@AbelandVictoria Sorry, I don't mean to sound critical. This is a great escapade, and well put together. Thanks. It really shows that you can make a lot of life if you put in some effort, even if you don't have much more than 24 hours.
