Luckily, I wasn't into football then. I grew up in Philly but didn't know that happened until your video or other videos about it.
It wasn't because the team was losing the game. Actually, the teams were tied 7-7 at halftime. The real reason the fans were so upset was because the team started 0-11, looking in perfect position to draft OJ Simpson first overall. However, they won the last two games, essentially giving up the #1 pick to the Buffalo Bills, who ultimately went 1-12-1 that year, worse than the 2-12 Eagles. The 1968 Eagles were not terrible to the point of being rewarded for it, they were just horrific for nothing. Great video tho.
