Great News! Thanks for taking us along for the journey! And it looks and sounds amazing! I'm driving a 6MT Crosstrek Premium and it's just a fantastic car!
That's so awesome that you figured it out! I'm glad it was something simple, even though pulling the timing cover and resealing it is pretty troublesome.
Thank you for the series man, im so glad u didn’t give up because that successful fire up put a big smile on my face. I want to rebuild a subie one day (hopefully i do i dont have to pull the engine twice tho)
Good job man. What an undertaking. 78k on my 18 2.5l Forester, still running strong. I have a series on my channel about sound deadening the Subaru, if you want to treat yourself to your more powerful engine AND a quieter ride. 👍
@@ReadySetProjects Not even $300 in material makes about 4-5dB sound difference. Phone calls and radio sound much better. Now the loudest thing in my car are the kids. 😰
That’s right …..keyway on crank faces straight down at 6 o’clock and cam gear arrows face each other on intake and exhaust on both sides then put on timing chains sequence to line to color , also make sure on disassembly rotate the cam gears with belt strap so lobes are not applying pressure on valves. Cam gear should rotate freely 180 degrees , man all that work …. The biggest thing is time to clean and 3 bond everything… . Great video …. I build these as a hobby
Would be nice if you could compile a list of all the parts, nuts and bolts you used in this build along with part numbers! I wanna build a frankenstein FB25 also.
You did a solid job of diagnosing and explaining the problem. Even at the beginning, I was thinking the motor was 180deg out of time . I only have experience with chevy small blocks, but converted to Subaru, so this is good information. I wonder if you could do a rundown of differences in fitment for a 2.0 vs a 2.5 ... like what things did you have to modify or correct for ie mounts, hoses, wiring... ecm... or was it pretty much a direct fit?
Been watching your series and contemplating a near identical engine swap (2014 manual xv crosstreck) with the FB25, just curious now that youve had the vic for awhile if you feel like it was a worthwhile job to undertake. Appreciate the level of depth you go into my man! Any dialogue would be awesome! Thank you!
Hey, how’s the crosstrek holding up? I’m curious if you’re going to do a follow up on how the transmission is holding up. Been doing a lot of reading up on the 2023 crosstrek manual, the gearbox is just my concern if the torque is going to be too much
This is honestly cool. Would this same engine fit in a 2023 cross trek? In x amount of years and the engine blows or just is beyond saving, I might consider this
I've swapped motors on my Jeep, my race cars, tore apart stuff without fully knowing about them and putting them back together .... I totally appreciate your giddiness when she fired up and idled properly. Again, well done. You mentioned "the manual" a couple times... which manual are you using specifically?
You are incredibly talented. So much knowledge. This is hard to watch. Have you opened the factory service manuals, any other sources on oem procedures…..there is something about factory manuals that if read correctly provide specs, steps, tests, torque values…..
I believe so. Just maybe not the most efficient, since the chamber in the head won't exactly match the cylinder bore. But valve size, lift, and everything else I think is the same.
You must be sleeping much better now. This is definitely a well documented series. Thanks!

been following this series for months love the updates!
Wow. An impessive work and perseverance. Thank you for documenting this.

Hell yeah! Very cool to see this completed.

Improving the sound deadening has been on my mind for future project for the XV as well. Good to know!

Do your jig brother. You earned it 😊
Yass the black grille is a must

I absolutely hate these comments. Do your research
Congratulations
Glad its up and going
Tekton 1" extensions have made my Subaru spark plug changes much easier.
Shoot I need to look into that. Thanks!
I coulda told you when you were doing the leak down that the timing was off lol. Sweet swap though!
thats awesome man, If I hadnt bought a full WRX to swap the DIT into my XV, I would go this route.
Congrats!

Great Job. I did not see that problem coming. Probably should of.
Beautiful family also
Yahoo!! Way to show perseverance pays off. 🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉

Why watching you stress so relatable😳 (1.8t flash backs start)
Great job you did it😊
That tricky piston number four

Really would like to know if you managed to get it to run without throwing codes...
Congrats man !!
good job
So when it's tuned, I'm curious about a review of performance changes with the higher HP 2.5
What was the power bump?
What makes you need to tune it during the swap? Wouldn't you just need the 2.5's ecu?

would a fb20 completed head work with fb25 block?

So, did you swap a 2.0i for a 2.5! ??
My boxer engine goes be boo boo bop boo boo bop
