I think it was the Disney company that came up with the "Fast Pass" idea, and it was about 20 years ago. Back then, the service was free and the idea was you could virtually hold your place in line for one ride at a time, which allowed most visitors to, in a sense, double their ride capability in the same amount of time. This works because it helped people get out of the longer lines for the most desirable rides and they'd move to the older attractions that weren't as big of a deal to see in your visit. But time marched on and Disney corporate decided to monetize what was a wonderful, free feature that benefited everyone. Other parks followed after they invented the service and then pivoted. Many of us in the US reject this idea too, but what can you do to stop a multi-national corporation?
@@Beyondthepress I'd say they wouldn't do it here, just 'cause of the non-equality thing and also there's not that big waiting times on Finnish amusement parks.
The battleship was really great to visit. We are doing fine with the snow at the hotel. The traffic seems to be so good that we continue early tomorrow morning. Our car has good all season tires so we are good. I just thought that there is going to be a LOT of accidents today since everybody else has summer tires but seems to be really quiet.
@Beyondthepress glad you got to a stoppinf point. Snow here is a bad news. We have 5" of snow as of now. Shattering records for this areas. We are having so much fun!
I've taken two of our grandsons on the USS Alabama and the USS Drum (submarine) and we all had a blast. I'm glad you guys are in the states and enjoying being tourists. Safe travels.
This video made my day... so many hilarious comments and quotes, just when I thought I heard the funniest one of you would say something funnier 😂. Although prob not the funniest, I think the optimistic "we're almost out of Florida" comment is the best one.
ALABAMA SLAMMA! USS Alabama is one of 4 South Dakota class battleships. Slightly smaller than the North Carolina and way smaller than an Iowa but far from being less lethal. Alabama's surviving sister, Massachusetts, is docked in Quincey MA in Battleship Cove. USS Texas, the last dreadnought, is presently docked in Galveston Texas following a massive restoration(Been afloat since 1912). USS Lexington, an Essex-class carrier, is docked in Corpus Christi Texas.
correction, cruiser USS Salem is in Fore River, Quincy, east coast of Mass., but Battleship Cove incl. USS Massachusetts is in Fall River, Mass, the south coast of Mass. (Curator of the USS New Jersey has a playlist comparing USS NJ & USS Mass. on their channel. And another playlist of only comparisons. And recently posted a list of "gee USS Wisconsin got that when reactivated, why didn't NJ" as well.)
I love seeing people come to America, especially when it's the first time. I hope you guys have/had an amazing time! And feel free to ask anyone for help. Not everyone will answer but the other 80+% that do will help you in anyway they can❤ i hope you can come back and see more of the US especially small town America, i think youll like it a lot!
This video is very interesting. Your take on things is fun. At least you know how to drive on snow.....nobody else down there does!!!! Trust me. Have a great rest of your trip!
I lived up north for 25 years and down here in Florida for 21 so far. While I agree with you that nobody knows how to drive in the snow down here, also remember that they don't salt the roads or plow down here like they do up there and sometimes that makes all the difference.
"We've been driving a lot today. We've been driving about 4 hours... " 😅😅😅 First off, welcome to the US. Love watching you guys! Second, I just had to laugh about the 4 hours with 1 hour left. I live in Ohio and have done a decent amount of traveling by car around the US in my life. For us, a short traveling day is 8 to 10 hours. Sometimes if you have two drivers you might even do a full 24-hour shift. Now add three or four drivers to the mix with a desire to snowboard Montana and you'll do a 30-hour trip in one shot with gas stops and quick food! I really hope you guys have a great time and enjoy your trip!!!
Lauri and Hanna, y'all rock! Alabama has a battleship in Mobile and has a Space and Rocket center in Huntsville. If the one in Houston is as good as the one in Huntsville. Y'all are going to have a blast. Peace ❤🤘🍻💨
"it looks like really bad neighborhood, then there's the fanciest restaurant ever" welcome to the USA. everything is falling apart but we just still here vibin
I have relatives just outside of Houston and have been to the space center. Try and spend some time in Galveston too. Lots of cool stuff in Houston. Great museums, especially the Museum Of Natural Science. Find some good Barbeque, shouldn't be too hard. A place you might like is the brewpub at Karbach's Brewery. Have fun!
I was stationed at Naval Air Station Pensacola for the US Naval School of Photography in the early 1980's. I enjoyed going there and being a New York native the beaches are great, although winter time isn't as great as Fort Lauderdale for beach activities. It's kind of sad to see some parts of New Orleans haven't made a good recovery since the Hurricane. I'm now in Hawaii on Hawaii Island ( The Big Island) for thirty years and it's a great place to visit any time of year. We currently have Kiluea erupting with the safest volcano viewing in the world. It could be a good option for another future holiday adventure.
We are resting this day and driving is going to continue early tomorrow morning. We try to get out of the snow mayhem before other drivers get onto roads
Welcome to the States!!🇺🇲 New Orleans is a very historic city and yes, a lot of bad things have happened there some of which happened quite recently too but also a LOT of good things also! I hope you enjoy your visit here my friends. ✝️🇺🇲🙏💪
Have the vampires, werewolves and witches worked things out yet or are the werewolves still in the bayou doghouse? It just doesn't look the same knowing Klaus is gone.
America through the eyes of Finns is really interesting to watch ! (also like the city names pronounced like dutch people with bad english would speak like you)
If you ever come by Virginia, we have the USS Wisconsin parked at Norfolk. The Texas is amazing, but the Wisconsin is an Iowa class, largest we ever built. Bigger guns.
"Hopefully" see some alligators in Florida. Being a lifelong resident, I can say that most days if you go looking for them, you'll find them. Even if you're not looking for them, you might wake up with one on your driveway, or in your pool, or under your car, or in your livingroom after one walked in through the dog door...
Wow, you're getting really cold weathers there! :O I mean that would be considered cold even in Southern Finland (in bit more north maybe normal weather) :)
If you haven't already figured it out, the US has a big division between rich and poor. It has gotten much worse over the last 40 years or so. The rich now include the super rich and the poor have dropped even lower than before. I think Finland is not like this at all based on what I hear now and my past trips there many years ago.
@johumm455 I totally agree. This will keep getting worse in the US as now the country is being run 100% by the billionaire class. It was bad enough under recent administrations but now will get even worse.
"a feeling like something bad has happened" in New Orleans.....I mean....yea. Some lunatics built a city 2 FEET BELOW SEA LEVEL, between the largest river in America and the ocean, and it happens to be right where hurricanes love to come barreling through. Also, the whole city is sinking, AND the sea level is rising, so this is only getting worse and worse. New Orleans builds up and repairs juuuuust enough, and then gets wrecked by a hurricane again. NO is hit by a hurricane roughly every 3 years. In the last 174 years, it has been hit by 56+ hurricanes. About 1/5 of all hurricanes that hit the Eastern USA. New Orleans is simultaneously the most important city in the USA for strategic reasons, and also the most doomed city in the USA, because it's a very one-sided clash between civilization and nature.
A number of devastating hurricanes have ruined New Orleans over the past 15 years and it will take some time before a visionary local government can restore it to what it could be. I head machine gun fire there in 1991 by the Superdome, and that was before all the storms, so it has been a declining town for a long time.
