I love that MTH Scaletrax on your layout! Scaletrax is, in my opinion, the best looking 3-rail track system available due to it's profile, any thing better would probably have to be hand laid which I've done. Yes, a 3-railer who has hand laid his track. I used bass wood for the ties and code 148 rails. For the middle rail, I decided upon code 100. When it came to turnouts, I simply ramped the middle rail up so it could carry the rollers up and over the outer rails safely. I have an original MTH Triplex which I bought from my father many years ago so I didn't purchase the Lionel version. The detailing is the same except for Lionel's addition of a back-up light on the tender. I wonder if that is prototypical? Both companies have done designs which were protypically correct and then goofed up on something else. I hope everything functions correctly for you.
Check authorized Lionel dealers. However, the Triplex locomotives were built-to-order (BTO). So if you didn't pre-order one, you'll need to check with larger Lionel dealers who might have ordered extra's to sell. Try Charles Ro Supply, Mr. Muffin's Trains, Trainworld, or Nicholas Smith Trains. They're currently showing this model in-stock.

No whistle smoke. Looks like all Triplex’s are suffering from a design issue.
It's Lionel. What did you honestly expect? We all knew that this engine would turn out to be a nightmare.
Oh no his wallet💀💀💀/Note:this is just for jokes.
