Hans Beimler was a German communist, and was an active member in the party. Due to his communist and anti-nazi sympathies, he was sent to Dachau concentration camp in April 1933, but escaped in May.
When the Spanish Civil War started, he joined the International Brigades as a commissar to fight the fascist forces. He died in November 1936, while defending Madrid. Later there have been theories about the NKVD having something to do with his death.
Lyrics:
Vor Madrid im Schützengraben
In der Stunde der Gefahr
Mit den eisernen Brigaden,
Sein Herz voll Hass geladen,
Stand Hans, der Kommissar
Seine Heimat musst er lassen
Weil er Freiheitskämpfer war
Auf Spaniens blut'gen Strassen
Für das Recht der armen Klassen
Starb Hans, der Kommissar.
Eine Kugel kam geflogen
Aus der "Heimat" für ihn her
Der Schuss war gut erwogen
Der Lauf war gut gezogen -
Ein deutsches Schiessgewehr.
Kann dir die Hand drauf geben
Derweil ich eben lad'
Du bleibst in unserm Leben
Dem Feind wird nicht vergeben
Hans Beimler, Kamerad.
Hans Beimler was a fine Kamerad! Long live the German Republican Volunteers! Their legacy shall not be forgotten!
Hans Beimler was awesome because five decades after he died people as different as Jordi Pujol and Erich Honecker honoured him together.
It has the same melody as "Ich Hatt Einen Kamerad"
Yes, the original song is apolitical and was already made in the 19th century. It's used by numerous political backrounds; Monarchists, communists and nationalists.
@@Commieball True, it was also used by South African army "Ons was goeie kamerade, nêrens kon jy beter kry"
Not so weird since loads of KPD and RFKB members were WW1 vets.
I noted this on that page.
@@carlosmpsenyorcapitacollon6977 it was also used for rettet Louis corvalan von oktoberklub.
His grandson is a writer for Star Trek
Spreading the revolution across the stars ...
lol wtf
“ Franco was a good Christian that did nothing wrong. The poor little boy, with the pistol’s safety still on, deserved it.” - Basically every Liberal ( Probably)
Depends what do you mean by liberal.
Franco did a hell less wrong than Stalin, Mao or PolPot
Most underrated comment ever.

Also, Pol Pot had the support of Reagan and Tatcher, so, there's that, and was ousted by Vietnamese communist, so there is that.
But you could continue to believe what you believe, as always.

In confirmation of the words above.
You held a city in a blockade for 3 years alongside Hanses and Fritzes with better equipment and weapons. Bombed it with artillery and airplanes, and yet you could not take it even though it had run out of supplies and the people in there starved. Just like Madrid, Leningrad stood against fascist swine. I am proud to be a Leningradian!
Beautiful song, thanks to upload it!
Such a Great tune
Amazing ad always, really appreciate all your effort. Really wish you'd put some Arabic songs someday

Es wird Zeit, Genossen!!❤
Just to be clear, "weil" doesn't mean while, it means because. (Could have used "for" too in this context.)
It's "derweil" which indeed means "while".
@@phrenetic6254 Does "as" work?
@@titanuranus3095 Sure, "as" will also work. Anyway, the translation in this video is excellent.

Хорошая, ламповая песня!
MY WAR... 1936-39 and it is now 2019... tragic.
Least that version shows the ideal comrade, and hence a soldier's song deserves that
Set to the tune of "Der Gute Kamerad" (aka "Ich Hatt' einen Kameraden") by Ludwig Uhland and Friedrich Silcher (1809).
Commieball could you upload the Yugoslav partisan song Po dolinah i po gorah?
It's my favourite song but I can't find it anywhere!
Would that be “Po šumama i gorama”?
мяёCняоиїC918 No my friend..
The song "Po dolinah i po gorah" is Slovenian partisan song!
Now you can find Also in UA-cam!
A friend has uploaded it!
Stjepan Filipović Interesting comrade. I’ll go check it out
Molto suggestiva
Dieses Lied war Standart im 1.Mot-Schuetzen-Regiment, Oranienburg.
Well, he died for his cause. Can't fault him for that.
Porque sale un fondo de la bandera republicana española?
porque luchó en la guerra civil
@@nihon2251 pues la República tenía otro símbolo, no tenía un triángulo rojo. Su escudo era mucho más elaborado y más español, si se puede decir.

Yes its the same melody. The original is not political though

What the fuck? No? Ich Hatt einen Kameraden was written in 1809 by Ludwig Uhland, fuckhead.
die stalinisten hatten immer die besten lieder zu den von ihnen verursachten Katastrophen.
Aber er war kein stalinist.
