💩as a new purple belt, I deeply struggled with impostor syndrome for the first 3 months before my first tournament at Purple Belt. There are moments where you don’t see what your professors do, you only see/feel the crushing defeats and constant smashings from upper belts who tell you “good job your rolling great”. It’s hard to separate the two
Well said! I like to relate it to our hair. We don't see it growing daily, but it is. Then out of nowhere you look like a bum. Or in Bill's case he didn't notice his hair leaving his body, and out of nowhere he looked like George Castanza.
💩 Professors this was very eye opening as a new purple belt with imposter syndromes. It helped me understand I am where I should be and that there is a long road ahead. Thanks again
Great conversation. As a new purple (46 yrs old) this was very informative. Also, just listening, there is an uncanny resemblance between the voices of the bald guy (shaved head) and Ari Shaffir (comic).
I'm in that feeling right now. I am a older blue belt in my gym at the age of 34. I just got my blue belt and have been training for only 7 months when receiving it. I don't think I am ready for blue belt. Yet all the blue belts that have been blue belts for over a year all said it was about time I got my blue so they feel better about rolling with me.💩💩💩
Excellent podcast, I really enjoyed listening to this one. It answers so many of my questions about what to focus on as a blue belt and obtaining those skills to become a purple belt. 💩
I'm working to be more offensive in my guard to make the person on top more uncomfortable, whether it be off-balancing for sweeps or going for submissions. The guards I've been working on are butterfly half and butterfly guard. @@GrapplingWithPodcast
I woke up from being choked unconscious to my coach standing over me like the scene from a knight's tale. He was smiling ear to ear and said welcome back.
Listening to this which then got me listening to Ep 10 with all the hormone stuff. Question for you. I'm 42, been doing jiu jitsu for a decade +. Last year I talked with my doctor about TRT. We got my levels checked. I was 150. Doc says ok you're below the 250 threshold, let's test it again. Now I'm 300. Doc tries to say well you're over 250 on the second one so you're all good (medically). I talk him into a third check and now it comes back as 450. Now he's definitely no longer caring about my levels. My question though is whether that is normal that my levels would swing 300 points within a few weeks (I think it was around 2 weeks between each test). I have plenty of the symptoms of low T that you guys (and others) talk about which makes me really wonder where I'm at actually at.
Love this podcast guys. On the topic of test, Im 49 and have all the symptoms of low t, which obviously makes jitsu fuckin brutal. Im in Canada though and when i had my levels checked a couple years ago my doctor said they were "normal" so end of discussion. Any advice? My nutrition is on point btw. Thanks!
I have a reputation for great grips. when you say your grip strength is the last thing to go it’s got me pretty worried. I feel my grip strength slipping every class. lasso guard worm guard any guard that requires grips I can’t do it anymore.
💩 you all help my drive in to work fly by. Thank you!

That smile, that damn smile.
Been waiting for this to come out :)
💩 I've already listened to this episode twice in the last couple of months
Thanks for answering the question about gi vs nogi in regards to belts. I like doing both! It’s more of an energy issue haha.
💩
Got so deep in the episode lol another great one y’all 1:33:57
🥋 I made it to the end. 😊
Good podcast 😛
