Su Zhou He Bian-苏州河边-By The Suzhou River. A live performance by Cai Qin/Tsai Chin

Many of the evergreen songs of old Shanghai from 1930s/1940s are very charming and touching. However many of us are not used to the rather high pitched style and dated recording techniques of that famous era
Thankfully, for the current generation, we have excellent singers like Teresa Teng, Cai Qin/Tsai Chin, Feng Fei Fei, Qingshan, Fei Yu Qing etc who are able to use current recording technology and their superb voices to render these songs for the post war generation
One of these songs is Suzhou He Bian, a song which Cai Qin has described as one of the most romantic songs in the world in this concert clip of 2010.
The english lyrics has been carefully translated so that the romance and emotional feel of the song is not lost in translation!
Although this is a live performance, her rendition is superb and is my favourite version of this song besides the one by Feng Fei Fei
