Hugs and thanks dear Annie and all who commented! But people, the BEST IS YET TO COME. Not only do I interview the Auburn-Haired Succulent Empress (backatcha, Annie), we take you along as we explore All Things Succulent-San Diego. Honestly, WE CAN'T WAIT to share with you all the fresh and fascinating design ideas, destinations, experts, tips and (of course) gleefully gorgeous succulents we found and filmed! Our adventures will soon appear either on MCG's channel or mine, so BE SURE to subscribe to both.
Debra Lee Baldwin is the reason I’m a succulent collector. I had no idea these marvelous plants existed before I saw her video years ago. She is amazing!
I enjoyed watching it. I met with Debra at Succulent Gardens with Robin Stockwell being part of the Succulent Fanatic group table. She chose one of my first driftwood pieces to feature on her video workshop along with some other artists. That was back in 2014. Succulents are shown on just about anything now. I continue to feature my shore finds of the variest botanicals with succulents on my designs. I take thousands of photos of tidepools on our beaches here each offering different treasures to display. Bandon Its a Shore Thing continues to offer container gardens and workshops to show others adaptable a succulent design garden is for home and gardens. I now offer Succulent personal shopper services as well as presentations. Here on the southern coast of Oregon, the monoliths(huge rock formations in the sea) is grounds for the Dudyela succulent that grows on their tops. They also offer several species of sedum - rock crops as well.
So enjoyed this interview and never tire of hearing Debra speak. She is the Queen! I surely miss all my succulents that I grew back in Hidden Meadows (Escondido) and loved watching them grow-up into beautiful art. We are now living in Arizona, and I'm trying out a few varieties but it's not the same as growing them in California. It was such a joy growing them - they were my babies and they are still growing!
Such excellent questions Annie to a wonderfully knowledgeable person as Debra. It was like the history of succulent design in America. Thanks so very much. I've loved her books and videos.
