I don't think an umpire overreacts when tossing a pitcher who throws at a batter and misses, then throws at him again and connects. Ian Kinsler no less. One of the most docile players in MLB.
Yeah of all the calls on here that was the one I am ok with the ump tossing him. Clear as day that he meant to plunk him but missed the first go round.
Disagree. He's throwing at the body not the head. Second, it's two pitches in - throwing out a starting pitcher that early completely changes the game. Issue warnings and then throw him out of he does it again.
@@danlorett2184 once is an accident. Twice in a row requires effort. And if not, tough shit. All that warming up leading to that.... and you do it twice? You shouldn't be on the mound. Period.

GreenFroppy 212 Leyland should’ve smacked the shit out of that umpire or the very least the player should’ve swatted the umpires hand away and point a finger in his face saying don’t touch me
The Answer To 1984 Is 1776! That’s a instant suspension. Umpires are allowed to hold coaches and players back to protect themselves and there fellow umps, they do it out of safety. Players and coaches aren’t allowed to touch them while arguing because it’s considered the same as assault. They are the authority of the field, they are the bosses and are in charge until they leave. Don’t cross lines, obey the rules and respect the ones in charge, stay in the game, pretty simple.
@@nateward9592 first off, umpires aren't allowed to do that (See Joe West suspended for holding Jonathan Papelbon). Second, that umpire had no right to push a batter torwards the dugout like that.
Robert Hyatt he was suspended for not just holding him back but for grabbing his jersey and forcibly yanking him when he continued, which is very much a no no. While that was wrong of Joe, Umpires ARE indeed allowed to protect themselves and fellow crew members no different than I am allowed to protect myself and my fellow referees on the football field when coaches and players are fired up. We get to hold them back and keep them from progressing further because we want to stay safe and we want to help them avoid further problems. And he did have a right to give him a light push towards the dugout, he’s the umpire, it’s his job as the authority of the game to move it along. Batter lingered more than he should’ve and tried to whine his case rather than walk to the dugout, as an umpire you’re not going to allow that. He gave him a nudge to move along when he took too long, rather than fully engage him and make it a scene, they took offense and they went up in arms when they really didn’t need to, it wasn’t THAT big of a deal. Again, listen to the authority of the field, obey the rules and don’t do anything to ruffle feathers and we all get along no matter the field or game. I’m a little more lax in that if someone needs to lean in to say something, put an arm around my shoulders to lean in to speak (especially since I’m only 5’7, not one of the taller guys) I have no problem with that, I get it can get loud. I abide by the rule of you respect me I respect you. But if they come in with a chip on their shoulder, shove me or say something wrong to try to get my attention, then the trouble starts. That’s the point where penalties and possibly ejections occur. And trust me, I’ve officiated long enough to know this stuff by heart. I’m a sports nut and an official that takes things to heart and makes sure to know them to the last detail.
@@nateward9592 I have officiated baseball for 9 years. If I did what that umpire did at any level, I would be in trouble. Now, I understand coming in between my partner and someone who are arguing after an ejection, but a) the batter wasn't ejected, and b) there are other ways to incentivize the batter to return to the dugout without putting your hands on them. I appreciate the comment though. As a fellow arbiter, I can understand how tough these situations can be. The last thing I want to do is instigate an overreaction, and putting my hands on a player in that way would definitely do that. Good luck to you in the upcoming season!
@@wikidclownchris It doesn't matter. A fucking ten year old can pitch better than that. If his control is legitimately that bad, it's dangerous to allow him to even be in the game.
A couple reasons, lackey just got back off of an injury, followed up by not having much warmup, should've been a warning, not an ejection. It looks back, but the ump didn't take into account he just got back Off Injury. Now a 3rd pitch like that and the call was warranted
@@KosmicForever Doesn't matter if he was injured or not. If he was trying to pitch normally and he was off by that much, he's now become a safety threat to the other players. And come on man. He was clearly trying to hit him.
When can we stop having gym teachers like these damn umpires and have gym teachers like a super buff, super skilled athlete who’s super cool, super chill and super friendly?
The umpires need to remember that we aren't there to watch them. There should be a rule that one or both of the General Managers should be able to throw an umpire out of the game if there is a good reason. And then it has to be reviewed. Umpires need to be held accountable for their poor decisions.
That umpire that tried to push the Tiger (Don't know how to spell his name) out of the box for arguing that is just not right. You don't want to be touched but you can touch someone else? I had the same reaction as Leyland.
There is more to it than "the second pitch of the game". This was the second game of the first series of the season between Texas and LA. In the final series of the previous year, the two teams were playing beanball with each other eventually ending up in a brawl in the final game. Lackey was on the DL at the time and had been talking trash to the media prior to this game (which was his first start since coming back from the DL) about how he couldn't wait to face Texas and get some revenge since he wasn't able to in the previous year's series from beingnon the DL. Kinsler was also trash talking on local media about how he wasn't scared of Lackey, and also hit 2 homers in the previous game off of the Angel's pitchers. The umpires are well aware of this shit, and had issues warnings to both dugout prior to the start of the game. Yes it was two pitches in and it was absolutely, undeniably intentional... And Scioscia was tossed as well since there was a prior warning.
The one with Lackey wasn’t an overreaction. Throw behind him 1st pitch then hit him 2nd pitch, it’s definitely intentional and worthy of getting tossed over.
the argument is he just came off the DL after 6 weeks. But I am completely on the side of tossing, bad blood between the teams as well as pitching behind a batter.
It's still at the umpires discretion. You can't toss every player for not agreeing with your calls, because then most of these umps would have to toss both teams and the fanbase.
Being disgruntled is not arguing balls and strikes. Besides, a lot of these players try to get inside the ump's head when he misses a call. He might give it to them the next time. Or he might be a jerk like in this video.
Some umpires are to overdramatic. It’s crazy how people give them full control over the game. Even if they’re feelings get hurt, sometimes they just throw them out of the game.

@D exactly. Nobody wants to watch some fat attention seeking egomaniac tarnish the game because a player hurt his feel feels. Bring on the robot umpires. It's long overdue.
“Joe West is the best umpire”

@@jaybird1150 that was lame and not a very good insult.
@@sarcoplayz9091 I think Angel Hernandez is much worse. The guy can't see!
@@MegaMkmiller true that
Joe West is like the plague....
Stays around forever and probably won't retire until he's 90 smh
0:02 I think Burnett just told Martin to come to the mound in this case. That's crazy
He didn’t throw out Burnett tho. He threw out Martin
Chris Rongey I misunderstood
thx
I liked the Cameo appearances of the other umpires in this joe west compilation.
1:55 really wasn't an overreaction. Lackey was clearly trying to hurt Kinsler. The ump has to protect the player.
Period.
True. If the pitcher is a danger to the batter for whatever reason, then he shouldn't be pitching. The umpire was making the game safe in the only way he could.
@@danlorett2184 Throwing at the body can still cause injury and a helluva lot of pain. The batter is seriously vulnerable in the box and the pitcher is taking advantage of that vulnerability. It's like if I were to go to work and at some point in the day, while I'm typing away at the computer, some big guy comes up and punches me as hard as he can in the kidney.
@@boofert.washington2499 Reminds me of Dempster throwing 4 straight balls at A-Rod awhile back. You get one shot at that "retaliation pitch" If you miss it, it's on you and you shouldn't be trying to hit someone again. I guess it's just another baseball unwritten rule which is another reason why I like the game so much.
It’s like every umpire had beef with Burnette for no reason
Alternate title: umpires don’t like AJ Burnett or John Lackey
Love how Leyland defended his player.
I don’t even like baseball yet I’ve watched all these compilation videos and love em
“Sneezes”
Umpire: YOU’RE OUT OF HERE
It pisses me off that umpires can touch players but the players can't touch the umpires or it's a fine
I feel like it's hard to call it overreacting when we don't know what was actually said.
2:00 wasn’t overreacting he was trying to hit him
2:00 seems like a fair call. Throws it behind his head, then hits him with the pitch. That's fair to toss the pitcher for that.
I think that pitcher was coming back from an injury
@@wikidclownchris It doesn't matter. A fucking ten year old can pitch better than that. If his control is legitimately that bad, it's dangerous to allow him to even be in the game.
They need to get rid of umpires. Especially the ego maniac power hungry a-holes.
Atirus bob Davidson was the biggest one and didn’t even try to hide it.
i wish i was omnipotent enough to judge whether people were overacting in situations i was not involved in
Throwing out Lackey for intentionally hitting that batter? I kinda approve of that call.
How is that Lackey call overreacting? He clearly was trying to hit him with those pitches
Nah people just hate umpires so they say that was an overreaction
That was the only one i was questioning
A couple reasons, lackey just got back off of an injury, followed up by not having much warmup, should've been a warning, not an ejection. It looks back, but the ump didn't take into account he just got back Off Injury. Now a 3rd pitch like that and the call was warranted
@@KosmicForever Doesn't matter if he was injured or not. If he was trying to pitch normally and he was off by that much, he's now become a safety threat to the other players. And come on man. He was clearly trying to hit him.
I always imagined umpires are the guys who got beat up by jocks in high school.
To some mlb umpires if something is not 100% pure kindness, it’s a verbal attack
All I've ever seen of AJ burnett is how calm he is after everything. Like he showed no emotion and didn't move his mouth after these horrible calls.
Angel Hernandez compilation
When can we stop having gym teachers like these damn umpires and have gym teachers like a super buff, super skilled athlete who’s super cool, super chill and super friendly?
*Turns towards the ump and yells*
* Gets thrown out *
“Awe I wasn’t yelling at you bro”
🤣😂🤣😂
Umpire: *experiences a minor inconvenience*
Also Umpire: *yeet*
I’m shocked more umps haven’t bin murdered outside of the stadium
Gotta love leyland standing up for his players
2:07 wasn't overreacting. The pitcher literally threw 2 back to back pitches at the batter.
The umpires need to remember that we aren't there to watch them. There should be a rule that one or both of the General Managers should be able to throw an umpire out of the game if there is a good reason. And then it has to be reviewed. Umpires need to be held accountable for their poor decisions.
Leyland for President!
Also, Lachey deserved to be tossed
Jimmy was the last we will see of real managers. Billy martin and leyland= hof
Just love how animated Leyland got in that one clip... the umpire was all “whoa whoa whoa”!
Are we going to ignore the fact that at 3:17 umpire has a pocket knife in his hand it just not opened
Dawg that’s a strike counter
Alternative title: AJ Burnett and John Lackey being the umpires least favorite pitchers for 5 minutes.
Idk, I couldn't handle the condescending look from the umpire. A face only my fist can satisfy
perfect example of umpires controlling the outcome of the game "THEY ARE BOUGHT OFF
That umpire that tried to push the Tiger (Don't know how to spell his name) out of the box for arguing that is just not right. You don't want to be touched but you can touch someone else? I had the same reaction as Leyland.
Ordoñez...I believe.. love those tigers days with Leyland!
I want cameras, robots, lasers, satellites, HD tape, microchips...
Getting the call right is more important than having the official be right.
1:30 that's why Jim Leyland is the greatest manager of all time.
Nobody:
Umpire: YOU’RE OUTTA HERE!
This is why it should be perfectly acceptable to drop kick an umpire.
2:05 - Not an overreaction.
Literally the second pitch of the game. That's a serious overreaction.
???「球審の白井です」

白井がマシに思えるくらい向こうの審判短気やな
just insane how much power the mlb actually gives umpires
That call on Lackey was spot on.
I'll never respect umpires who react to emotions. Calls the plays and follow the rules, thats it. No one cares how you feel
2:10 it’s not an overreaction if it’s an intentional hit and I think it was
Some of these aren't over reacting. You're not suppose to argue balls and strikes. Even showing some sort of disagreement is arguing.
being thrown out of the game for disagreeing with balls and strikes is a huge overreaction by an umpire
Showing emotion is not the same as arguing
“So why did you throw him out?”
Umpire: “he called me a butthead”
Some umpires are to overdramatic. It’s crazy how people give them full control over the game. Even if they’re feelings get hurt, sometimes they just throw them out of the game.
It will be a great day when these egomaniacs are finally replaced by a computer.
Perfect argument for electronic calls, why do we even need umpires anymore?
I think that umpires were the kids that said if we can’t play my game I’m going home
I love how in the first few they just got thrown out
For no reason
Have yelled at heaps of umpires but until you have tried it you have no concept just how hard it is
The running start toss have more inertia behind the ejection than the 2 step toss
It's like high school drama but by people who get paid way way way more and are adults.
worst ump in history there in the first video? that was probably the clearest example of a strike i've ever seen.
love seein the coaches do that light jog immediately lmao
Leyland was not runnin out of breath😂
Haven't laughed so hard in a while, good stuff.
Imagine wasting your time arguing the Lackey overreaction
Alternate titles: Umpires acting like cry babies, Umpires being Karens
3:09 Chris Guccione’s immediate reaction was priceless lol
Umpires are power tripping. All they should be allowed too do is call what type of ball is thrown, unless if threatening gestures are made. Nothing else.
Some day I just want to see someone completely knock out one of the umpires. It would be amazing.
Pitcher: *Catches ball*
Umpire: "That's it get out of here."
