That little "dear" at the end is a nice touch
Jinshi hit the jackpot in these shorts, got the girl he loves, has a happy family with her and it seems all the stuff with his dad worked out in his favor.

Isn't it Chinese tradition that the mother is on bed rest for a month after giving birth?. If I'm remembering that correctly, then ya know Maomao will go stir crazy and Jinshi will have to post guards around her 24/7 to keep her from getting up. Not to mention that man will try to move Heaven and Earth to keep her comfortable much to Maomao's annoyance. 😂
It’s called zuo yue zi or “sitting of the month”
Considering the extremely high mortality rate of babies and postpartum mothers back in those days, it was a very good idea to do that. Im surprised medieval europe didnt do this until around the time of water sterilization (which surprisingly came very late in our history).
@@Princess_Cheese I remember reading about this. Along with what foods and drinks the postpartum mother was expected to consume. All good stuffs for the body but I can barely imagine some of the taste. Then again, given the nature of some of those herbs, I can see Maomao going all “happy kitten” at the chance of consuming those “nutritious, herbal soups, porridges, and drinks” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think what maomao was supposed to say in the beginning was “before your father sees us in the rain”
Considering Maomao's experiments with poison, she probably "eats" (ingests) a lot more than she actually consumes (digests), so she needs to get decent, non-poison food that much more.
I'd like to see Jinshi try to feed Xingye. Babies sense weakness, so it probably ends with papa covered in baby food.
