I love how you are so precise with your language and take the time to convert the measurements to grams and mililiters. And, obviously, your recipies are always perfect and actually when i make them everything is as good as it looks on your videos.
I saw the thumbnail for this and got so excited because it looks just like the apple cake my Oma used to make! Turns out the recipe is very different lol, but it did make me realise that it’s probably time to make one. She’s been gone 18 months but hadn’t made one for a good few years before that. I have the recipe written out in my childish handwriting from when she taught me how to make it when I was about 8 or so. That was a wonderful day 🥰
September 2021. Just came upon this recipe as i had a great harvest of apples and was wondering what to do with it. i know i have put away 2 bags chopped apples in freezer. now with the other apples i am going to make a few cakes and give it as gifts for close friends. I make a lovely Indian picle with it for future use. I will try this recipe. Looks easy.
Well I made this coffee cake and we really enjoyed it with our coffee today. I’ve yet to be disappointed with any of your recipes. They all turn out so perfect and I think it’s because you give weight measurements. Makes such a difference. Thanks kindly.
I tried this recipe last night after digging through your channel for a good coffee cake and Im so glad I came across this recipe. The cake turned out amazing, moist and flavorful. I added some nutmeg in addition to the cinnamon for the struesel topping and it was perfection. This isnt the first of your recipes Ive tried, but what they all have in common is how fantastic they all come out! Thank you so much!
I tried this today and it was delicious and easy. Any recipes I've tried on this channel have turned out exactly like the video. As an experienced home baker I can tell the recipes are well done and reliable and I appreciate how thorough they are.
I have never baked before this year. I want to thank you for making these videos. I have used several of your videos and have had Zero fails. You explain things so clearly. I just want you to know that you are appreciated. Oh yea, this recipe, AWESOME.
Hi Stephanie. I made this cake yesterday and my family and friends simply loved it. The fruit flavor comes out beautifully and the layers appear so distinctively. I'm still basking in the adulation thanks to you😊
Stephanie, I hope that you & Rick had a restful, beautiful day at the beach....but no Baxter? This cake is PERFECT for this time of year-it's apple season for sure, and a fresh, moist cake loaded with apples with a sweet, crunchy streusel topping....well, it takes a lot to beat that. I also wanted to compliment you in closing, by saying that I am so impressed after all these years, how professional you still are, and how meticulous in your baking you are. It is obvious to me that you prepare before making a dish. I can't tell you how many people I watch that just throw something up on the fly......how many times they burn the dish on the instructional video and verbally just skirt around it. You are the only person I consistently watch that I know I can always trust. I do not want to waste my time, my money nor my efforts into making something where someone has messed up on the temperature, the time required, left out an ingredient, or has never made it before only to have it flop on the instructional video. I truly appreciate how genuine and professional you are when making your videos! Please keep up the great work. I would really love it if you could help us out with some creative, inspiring videos on how to make some interesting, creative casserole videos-I know your channel is titled "The Joy of Baking".......but you have to bake the casseroles too, right? *wink...
hello, rick! i've been watching your recipes for a few years now, stephanie, and knew that your husband filmed and produced them, so it's so nice to put a face to the name!
That cake looks delicious and that crunchy streusel with walnuts is like an icing on cake. Apple is my husband’s favourite fruit, so i will be making this on his birthday this month.
Hi Stephanie, I am every day more impressed by your recipes!!! Yesterday, a friend of our family gave us a bag full of his apples ( he has a countryside next to my city). I will definitely make this cake!! I also want to thank you for giving us the measures in grams because here ( in Italy ) it can be little bit difficult otherwise. Keep cooking :)). XX
I've been waiting for this on her channel and finally it's here! Refreshing new format and the new kitchen is aglow, very nice:))))...Joy Of Baking is always the best!!!
I just did it today and it was amazingly delicious perfect taste and texture. Thank u so much every receipy of urs I ve tried it is always a success, I m grateful and thankful
Hi Stephanie! Love the way you describe every step so beautifully 😍. I have made this cake based on your recipe and the very first time it came out cloud like, flavourful and delicious. I've since made it many times over and have had much demand for it in my budding business of 2 months! It might be appropriate to thank you through this recipe for kick starting my business 😁. Heartfelt thanks to you 🙏❤️
Just made this a couple days ago. It went great except for 1 thing. So, the reason I actually searched for this dessert was because a friend gave me a bag of apples! But not the kind of bag you can see thru, but I believed her that they were just your ordinary everyday apples. Anyway, I made the cake part and the topping. Went and grabbed the bag of apples and looked and they were these tiny little apples that when I quartered them, the pieces were so small I can’t tell you how many I had to cut up. I’ll tell you that by the time I finished, the first few apples were turning brown already. Oh and I used pecans! Very good!
Instead of cutting up butter, I usually grate it on medium side of grater must be cold butter into flour and dip butter you are holding into flour now and then to stop sticking if it does, even works with frozen butter recipe looks really good.👍🍏
I noticed that you have a brand new kitchen, it looks awesome, I wish I can have a kitchen like that! Your vids and website are wonderful too. Thank u for sharing~
I made this with a few changes and it came out great! I used fresh squeeze orange juice instead of milk in the batter as I no longer keep milk or much dairy (except butter) in the house. I wanted to use apple juice but juicing the apples was more work than I felt like doing for just 1/3 of a cup of juice. I also chopped the apples instead of making slices. For the topping, to make it sweeter and spicier, I used only 1/4 the amount of flour and kept the brown sugar and nuts amount the same. So the brown sugar to flour ratio was 2 to 1. I used less butter too but I used half again as much cinnamon and I added a half teaspoon of allspice. After it is baked the topping is a darker brown and not as thick but it is loaded with flavor.
Another beautiful presentation, and I sure wish I had a nice slice if it right now. I'm a person who doesn't peel the apples, because there are so many vitamins and minerals in them. When I buy, or pick them from the orchard*, I go for Rome Beauties...they are so good for baking. I think I'll make a double recipe and take it to my Grandson's Thanksgiving Dinner this year for snacking. Thank you for the great work you do. *The Orchard is something I'm not able to do any more because of Arthritis, and using a cane, but I sure used to.
WOOOOW!!!! I love your new videos, they seem more personal if that makes any sense!!! I love the new set up and the new kitchen its so much brighter!!!!! Thank you so much for making these videos
You make such delish desserts! I'm surprised you and your husband don't weigh a ton!! I couldn't live with all those goodies in the house... but would love to try :)
In Germany, where I live, streusel cakes (Streuselkuchen) are typically made on a rectangular baking sheet and with a yeast dough. Your recipe looks delicious, too, though. And much easier.
Ja, ich glaube, bei uns im Nordosten heißt das Pflaumenkuchen :-) Der Lieblingskuchen meiner Mutter. Ich weiß aber nicht, ob sie diese Pflaumen (Zwetschgen) in den Staaten haben.
Hi Stephanie! Big fan here! I made this cake yesterday and it came out awesome as do all your recipes. The only thing is that I had a 9” springform pan and not an 8”. It made a cake layer a bit thinner that I like, although the taste was still great. I wonder if I want a thicker cake layer in my 9” pan, is ok to double all measurements or they’re not all linearly proportional? I like the texture and the structure of the cake and don’t want to mess it up with too much butter or flour. Please help! Thanks a lot.
having recently developed type 2 diabetes, I experiment with your recipes and tried this substituting whole wheat flour and granulated splenda, it turned out great and really reduced the total amount of carbohydrates in it.
This cake looks great. You made a great video. I would recommend you use a potato peeler to peel the apple slices. Its faster and you will waste less apple.
Hi, it was great and it must be delicious, only if you can double your ingredients! If I double the ingredients, will the cake recipe be messed up? Oh, we are two families ...❤️🌹💋🌺
Hi stephanie! I really like your recipes, all though ive been going towards the 'healtier baking' section lately: I know it is supposed to be a buttercake, but could I sub part of the butter in the cake for apple sauce? Since it's an apple cake, I thought I'd give it a go, what do you think?
Is it just me or did you call this cake coffee?? Am I totally crazy or something? Looks delish i'll be giving this a bash tomorrow! Thanks for your amazing recipes. Love from Ireland X
You could also makes these as individual cakes and bake them in those big muffin trays lined with those caffe style muffin cases or make your own from baking parchment, just divide the everything equally between say 6 or 8 muffins, what do you think, it might easier to take them on a picnic than a whole big cake or sends the kids off to school with o e in their lunch pail.
I am so happy you got to move and especially to live in St. Simons Island GA!!! It's lovely there!! And thank you for showing video of your husband!! You two are sweet together!!! :D
Hi Stephanie! I'm like your biggest fan. You are the reason I'm such a passionate baker! I wanted to know if you are working on a cookbook currently or anything cause I would be so happy to buy it.
Thank you for your kind words. I have no plans to do a cookbook. I'm already maxed out doing our UA-cam channel and website and that's where I plan to focus for the foreseeable future.
Awesome❤️ I will try it... But I want to make this cake little big, I mean if double the quantity what is time required to bake and the siza of tin required... Kindly message me...

Delicious! I tried it!❤ but don’t know what I’m doing wrong, because mine was thinner , but what can be my failure?maybe the batter?!
This cake isn’t that thick. If you used the correct pan size the only thing is maybe your baking powder is old.
This cake looks great. You made a great video. I would recommend you use a potato peeler to peel the apple slices. Its faster and you will waste less apple.
Every recipe of Stephanie's is amazing tried most of her recipe and it all came out delicious.

Yes you could do that.

Your apple strewdell looks amazing 👏, can you use a bramley apple? Valerie.
