- Last weekend at the Be Better Golf School, Richie Hunt who does or has done predictive analytics for multiple golfers on the PGA Tour (and for NASA) including Tony Finau, Charles Howell III, Ben Crane and more.
Richie is also a Be Better Golfer and agreed to address the school and talk about the tour and how amateur golfers can improve. Turns out driver and 170 yard shots (range) are very important.
His website is 3jack.blogspot.com
Subscribe to see more with Richie as we are developing more content with him and ways golfers can systematically improve. Tony Luczak, PGA is getting his PHD in human factors engineering right now so he was very interested in how Richie does both of his jobs.

Fantastic listening to Rich Hunt.. He's an absolute gem.
Always enjoy this guy's contributions on the GolfWRX forums.
Thanks for sharing. I read Rithie's posts on Golfwrx, nice to hear him in person.
Fascinating stuff, Brendon. Thanks!
Brilliant stuff.
Great info from Richie
Your videos are really cool. I like the variation in format.
One thing that struck me with this video is ‘what is a good round of golf?’ There is always a lot of talk about being better, scoring better etc .. but after my last round at the weekend it highlighted to me that it’s not really that simple.
I play off 9. So I shot a 77 on Sunday which was great. Good shots all round and felt ‘safe’. Then today I shot 83 but it felt so much better. My drives were almost 300 yards and straight and I hit 2 great bunker shots, which is normally a weak shot for me. I hit a few wild ones but somehow the good shots more than made up got it :-))
Paul Stewart imo your question is really about alignment of expectations and reality. Most of us struggle with this in golf, I think. Golf is really about scoring lower, and you probably hit a lot of consistently solid shots that day with 77, and should have been happy. But some combo of our egos and expectations can get in the way because you didn’t hit those “pretty” shots like you did on the 83 day, even though you probably hit more other poor shots to explain for your higher score.
Obviously there’s lots more to it than that, but managing those expectations and aligning our own happiness and enjoyment with realistic expectations more in sync with the actual nature of the game is something we can all likely work on.
Holy Shi* I always thought Richie was a young guy based on his picture on Golfwrx. He's an old man. Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Uncle Adolf Hey if your photogenicity peaks in high school, you just keep using that one!
Nice vid!
He's dropping a few aussie names in there, interesting to hear =)
Paulie DaGolfer that’s what I was thinking, then he drops in sergio lol
youre never in the 175-225 range because you don't play PGA tour length courses bud, fuck 500 yard par 4's
Hey 3Jack...
I like your videos but please stop moving around. It’s really annoying to have the jerky video
Drives in the fairway is not a useful stat. Eg you could be on a dog leg left hole and be too left blocked out but be on the fairway vs on the right in first cut but have a shot at the green.
The driving stat should be if you have a good second shot or not.
no, that is an outlier example
Still i can think of examples when its possible to be in the rough and have a better angle in to the pin.
Rodney Blackwell trying to hold tour greens it’s almost always better to be in the fairway
Chase Reyes Dustin Johnson isnt even in the top 100 for fairways hit
Chase Reyes length is more important than accuracy.. within reason
Who is going to win the Master’s? Should have asked him that, then we all can make some $$
