@@AstroExploring This little red box saved me all the time I would have spent on learning NINA, APT, PHD2, etc. etc. I'm sure you will love this with all new features, especially the mosaics with square sensor cameras like ASI533MC Pro. I have the same camera and yet to try mosaics with ASIAIR Plus. Clear Skies & Merry Christmas!
Hi Nick, had the same issue with plate solving, for me is was that the asiair put my focal length at 338 when is was supposed to be 336, i changed it to the correct focal length at it worked fine, yours shows 335 maybe your having the same issue, great video by the way
You don’t need the EQMOD cable. Just use the usb connection on the mount to a USB2 port on the asiair plus. If using the USB connection then it’s still set to EQMOD on the asiair
You should get the asi air plugged into the USB on the eq6, also you polar align through the imaging camera so check the exposure length even with a 5nm filter 2 seconds is plenty.
Hey Nick, The focus tool works best without the Bahtinov mask on. The 'score' you mention is the FWHM and the spikes of the Bahtinov will mess that value up. I have an EAF now, but before that I used the focus tab to get a rough focus (get the FWHM to the smallest possible value). Then I threw on the Bahtinov. The focus screen is not always that helpful I find, when using the Bahtinov. The preview mode is allowing you to manually zoom in on a star as well. Shooting an exposure of 2 seconds will probably allow you to examine the bahtinov pattern more easily as in the focus mode you showed.
Are you still using IT? What are your thoughts about it now? I'm looking at an upgrade to how i use my Current setup ( EQ^ pro and an 8" edge HD, although I do have a 12"Meade SCT sitting in the shed) I don't know whether to go all in with the ASI route or get a new laptop and go through the pain of getting all the ASCOM drivers etc.
I got my ASIAIR Plus, also from FLO (in a box saying 'may contain snow'), a couple of days ago, just as the clouds rolled in... I hope I'll get to test it soon.
I tried using the USB port on my AZ-EQ6 but was getting random disconnects from the mount and consequently losing position. I tracked it down to a loose usb plug. I’ve tried various plugs and they are all the same. It seems like the socket on the mount is the issue. So I changed back to using an EQMod cable and the problems disappeared. The clip in connection on the EQMod cable is so much more secure than usb.
50mm GS overkill? Ive just bought the same mount, now thinking of making a shed with sliding roof just big enough for the mount and scope, as its killing me carrying it in and out 🥵
Hi Nick, Great to see you got it all up and running and what a great image at the end! Just a quick question on the main scope focal length - how do you calculate how much to add for the field flattener if adding that manually? Hope you have a good xmas and enjoy the break!
Hi Vaughan. Just take the focal length of your scope and multiply it by the reducer. E.g my scope focal length is 420 and my reducer is 0.8. 420x0.8=336. Yours is 0.85 so would work out as 357. You then also need to take into account the size of sensor. So for a Canon crop sensor you’d then multiply 357 by 1.6
Hi Nick, another great video. We have a 5 month son, and I feel your pain (worth it though 😁). I also have an ASIAIR Plus and it's great. My issue is that with my ZWO585MC camera this camera takes great colour images in Preview mode, but for some reason when I use Autorun and program in lights, darks and flats, it only images in black and white 😔. I guess that the camera must be ok as it works fine in colour in Preview mode. The mono bin is switched off and I have also had an error message basically saying that the pictures will be overexposed (only programming in 3 min subs at gain 252 (which is the best gain setting for my camera apparently). Sorry for so much text, but would you have a Scooby of what the issue might be? Any advice of what the issue might be would be awesome. All the best, Dougie
Hi Dougie. I’m not entirely sure. Sounds like the ASI Air is perhaps not debayering the images for some reason? Do you get a colour image once stacked?
@@AstroExploring cheers for your time in replying Nick 👍. My good friend mentioned debayering too using Deepskystacker. Certainly I stretched a single sub in GIMP (and didn't use DSS obviously) but there was no RGB data showing even on a single exposure. It seems that when I downloaded the new version of ASI (BETA 2.0) that this issue has started as I was getting splendid colour images on the older format of the ASI operating system with my setup. As I previously mentioned, I'm getting colour images when using Preview mode for single images and are saving onto my phone in colour but not colour on my external memory stick. I might be getting a new tablet for my Christmas, and so will reinstall the software onto it and will save my images directly into the ASIAIR PLUS and see if that sorts it out. Sorry I'm vastly less technical than your good self 😂. Any other potential suggestions of what else it might be would be great. All the best, Dougie
@@AstroExploring @lukomatico hi Nick, hope you had a smashing Christmas? Just to let you know that I must have changed my settings in Deepskystacker and discovered that I had recently been saving my stacked images in FITS which will only save in B&W. I've changed the setting back to TIFF and colour has arrived 😁😁. Sorry for wasting your time. All the very best, Dougie

Congrats on the new equipment!! Enjoy it and Happy Holidays!
Thanks Greg!
Congratulations, Nick!!! Finally with a EQ6-R Pro and, most importantly, the ASIAIR Plus, my favourite one 👍.
Enjoy the holidays!!!
Genuinely think I’ll be doing more imaging with how easy this is! Merry Christmas 🎄

Just make sure to use 115200 baud rate, when using the USB. 9600 when using EQMOD cable.
Thanks both!
@@StangspringDK
Yes, thanks for that as I totally forgot to mention the baud rate.👍
eh, in some the usb doesn’t work. mine doesn’t work and it’s really annoying
Consider a video on how to wire everything up properly, so many variables, EQMod cable or USB…? Not even sure if I’ve got things plugged in properly?

Thanks Martin, I’ll try the preview mode for focusing next time
This is my exact setup, you will get some great images.Great tracking with my EQ6r and ASIAIR makes it a breeze, now if editing was as easy
I’m still learning PixInsight 😃

Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 it’s a great bit of kit

wow this looks like a way to use my old EQ6 and get a better experience than using the handset or even EQmod and sky atlas

cool video Nick. Nice shot too. I need to get back into youtube.

I focus in preview, gives you a way bigger image.
So, I have to have an Android tablet?
Nice domain name
you have usb-b port but you use RJ45. Why?
