    I keep seeing in video after video Shiv is just going to be a housewife like her mother. Why does everybody forget that this show started out with Shiv not working at the company, she was a nationally known political consultant working for a senator who was considering running for president. It never occurs to anybody she can just return to politics.

    Great video! Tom’s success is not only nepotism, he is also a sycophant, a yes man. In movies and tv we are used to the sycophant getting their comeuppance but in real life they often do well. That is what made this ending great.

    I was satisfied with the ending though I guess I was expecting something more definitive. Yes the deal is done and the siblings are out, but if the creators wanted, they could continue on with season 5 where Kendall and Roman make another power grab.

    I wonder if there's a cut scene that would have filled in a bit of Shiv's decision process. Just before the vote, Shiv and Stewy to off to talk to Sandy, because she might be wobbling. But then in the board meeting Sandy votes for the GoJo deal, saying she wants out. What happened in the conversation we don't see? Did she use that "getting out" language, which echos words Caroline, Shiv's mother, used the day before? I couldn't help thinking Shiv looked around at these people and realized she wanted out. Except, of course, she doesn't really get out, because she then returns to Tom. No happy ending for her.

    You know what story line they dropped: PIERCE! They can still buy Pierce and navigate toward a lateral takeover of Waystar again.

      @AW-uv3cb 11 місяців тому +2

      yeah i'd like shiv to go on with the Pierce takeover, with Rome maybe as an investor (but they might not have the money without Ken's share, and Ken is, umm, not very likely to want to team up with them again at this particular moment haha)

    Everyone got what they WANTED at the beginning of Season 4. This is what’s ironic about the ending of Succession.

    At first I was sad about Shiv’s fate. Then I remembered that she’s chosen this and maybe deserves it. They all lose. Mark Mylod is not optimistic about Roman even though he seems fine. It was foolish of me to want a happy ending. I liked the finale.

    I disagree with this eval of TOM...Tom is not a the TOP..he is a buffer CEO for the AMERICAN part of the company. He may be "uninspiring" but he is very good at his job. The CEO job is not to COME UP WITH new idea neccisarily. Some times the CEO's job is simply to take the flack for the company and make sure it runs smoothly..we have seen that TOM is VERY hardworking and competent. AND he will eat sh!t which is totally the job of this kind of CEO. Tom is very talented actually...why ..he is "EXACTLY" what his environment demands him to be...HE is a VERY competent buisness man actually and you can see throughout the series that he is poised, humble, courageous and extremely hardworking. There is an element of Nepotism but cetainly far far far less than anyone else.

    • @AW-uv3cb
      @AW-uv3cb 11 місяців тому +2

      Humble, poised and courageous are not necessarily great words for Tom (it's enough to see how he treats those under him, with his "human footstools" and "skulls to cut", and how he flounders in front of those who have more power than him, desperately trying to say the right thing to please them - I'd say he's more like "servile", but maybe he'll get a little bit over it now that he finally has less to prove). But yes, he's clearly good at what he does. He got his ATN job completely through nepotism, but he kept it because he delivered, and he got picked by Matsson because when Shiv was talking about him, she inadvertently sold him as the perfect candidate for what Matsson was looking for: competent, but obedient and ready to eat shit.
