When it comes to a bad cop we have to go deeper than just the uniform. We have to look at the heart of the person wearing the uniform. Some of these cops have hearts that are filled with hatred and evilness. All the laws in the world can't change that. You can't legislate a person's good character. Either you have one or you don't.

So we used to have a thing where I'm from called jump out Tuesdays (and Thursdays) where the police jump out on random black males looking for anything they can lock them up for. I was, at the time, dating a white girl from the suburbs (about an hour from the city). We were leaving my house and heading to hers for a cookout with my cousin and his girlfriend. When I exit my house after everyone else I see the Police with my cousin on the ground, his girl arguing with the police, and my girl in her car crying. When they finally let us go, and I'm in the car with her, she's going on about how she's never seen anything like that, and couldn't understand why would they do that to him. In that moment it hit me that there is a large portion of (white) America that truly doesn't think that racism exists. They don't hate black people, the people they know don't openly talk about hating black people so we assume they don't, so It's not a real thing. It's just not something that they think about. It's like that Dave Chappelle joke about whites finding out about police brutality in Newsweek after Rodney King.
@@sunrayhicks2971 you know, I've honestly never thought about that. That wasn't the first time I've dealt with it, or the last. As f***ed up as it sounds, you just accepted the fact that this was going to happen to you eventually. it's just a part of growing up Black in Baltimore. I think the reason it affected her so much because she has a biracial son (that looks more black than white) and that was the first time that it hit her that her son could go through these things, and she was in no way prepared teach him how to deal with it. Forget the things that she knows that she has to tell him, this was something that she didn't even know existed that could detrimentally harm her son. She later asked if I could talk to her son about dealing with the police. She said she never saw her son as a black boy, just as a boy, and she didn't know how to prepare him for a world that she, as a white woman, knows nothing about. She said she was, for the first time, truly scared of her son's life. It was a heartbreakingly beautiful moment (if that makes any sense) to see her get an understanding of what it is that I (& a lot of other black men) have had to deal with my entire life.

There are officers out there that truly give the profession a bad name!!!
As a black woman Ive had MANY run ins with police officers only 2 in 20 years have been assholes and in my book thats still too many.
One profiled me as a black man 😳 The other tried to convince my, then, boyfriend, now husband that I was a crack addict.
As a Vietnamese , i've never seen anybody got cuffed for standing next to family
You also removed yourself from his perspective within the first 3 words of your response. “As a Vietnamese”…which clearly shows you aren’t black, aren’t perceived as black, and will never be referred to as black, therefore there’s no way you could see Jrue’s situation from his perspective. Asians aren’t viewed as threats in this country, many people don’t like y’all but they aren’t scared of y’all. But many whites, and even a ton of Asians, inherently hate black people and view us as threats just based on the medias portrayal of us on an every day basis. So with all due respect, no shit Sherlock obviously you haven’t seen this stuff firsthand like us
Ok?

I did some work on Jrue and his wife home when they lived in Louisiana very cool dude
Wasn't expecting Chef Ibaka. 😁
That fact they allowed someone to bring her the license is privilege enough lol
Why didn’t Tony Timpa have privilege ? Or Zachary Hammond or Kelly Thomas or David Kassick or the white dude in Colorado who cops just killed today. Or Linden Cameron ? Further more why haven’t you ever heard of any of those people ? Zach Tony David and Kelly were all unarmed and are all dead now. No cops got in trouble. Little Linden luckily survived. But he’s autistic so he’s really sensitive now he’s basically traumatized for life.
Right, never has a cop let me sit there for a family member to bring me my license, its always. Oh you dont have it on you too bad

That’s Terrible man and he didn’t even bring up how he’s a NBA player who could get a lawyer and sue that cop. Props to Jrue for being calm though
Jrue shows up, cop gets scared, arrests him for "his own safety"...smh.
@jacob placed in handcuffs, restrained, detained...its semantics. you know what i mean.
"Kind of a jerk"
He meant racist.
Victim mentality is thick
When it comes to a bad cop we have to go deeper than just the uniform. We have to look at the heart of the person wearing the uniform. Some of these cops have hearts that are filled with hatred and evilness. All the laws in the world can't change that. You can't legislate a person's good character. Either you have one or you don't.
Positions of power natural attract bad people, look at politicians and cops. “Few bad apples” argument gets old when you frame it like 1% and it’s a lot more like 5-10% of rotten people which comes out of a massive chunk of the police people interact with
Fair, but also, every "good" cop is propping up a system that lets this cop here play a life-and-death game of Simon Says.
People of conscience need loudly proclaim they won't sign up until the ones like this guy are gone. Place the accountability back on the hierarchy, either deal with racism in a genuine and top-to-bottom manner, or show the world you'd rather protect racists than do that.
@One Big Advocado I agree with you 100%! Sometimes I hate when I hear people say "All cops aren't bad" or "Most cops are good cops." Then, where are these good cops and why do they let this type of stuff continue to happen?! Instead, they protect and defend these bad cops actions. It's disgusting!
It's called racism white supremacy THE END
Character of an individual is where the problem lives.
Chip didn't want him to feel like he was being strong for the Woman, especially his Wife. Telling him he can leave was simply a form of domination.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Then, when he didn't leave, he tried to assert his dominance in another way by abusing his authority smh.
And a pathetic attempt at that
All those policeman, like they say what do police men and firemen have in common??…. they both want to be fireman😂😂😂😂
N.W.A. has a song that comes to mind....Hip Hop Classic.
That cop should be locked up for that. Minimum 3 years. Abusing your power like that, you need a hard lesson.
I don't know about that but they should definitely lose their jobs in instances like that.
Life sometimes isn't fair but you handled the situation perfectly. You absolutely shouldn't leave your family until they are safe ♥️
Keep that same energy when the role is catered perfect to you just like iy was hime
I live in Indiana and I'm the "typical" black guy. Tattoos, the look of whatever. I OnLY had issues with black cops🤣🤣 and I had NUMEROUS NUMEROUS encounters. I've ran from them, jumped out 2nd story floors to get away and never had a real issue. They are VERY PROFESSIONAL in my experience
Affluent BIG Slim: I seen why you had issues with cops you created the problem.
White man here. Bc I always drove low class vehicles it seemed I was pulled over a lot for bs stuff like plate lights or rubbing the white line after they were riding my ass. The worst incident I had with police was the only time I had a black passenger while pulled over. I was like damn why is bro being so aggressive and accusatory towards him but mildly cool with me(and I was the one driving to get pulled over). I saw it up close. I don't understand this shit but I bet it really does happen everyday
He wanted to emasculate this big black man in front of his wife sickening some things will never change because they dont have the heart to change!!!!!
That's really what it comes down to
He clearly saw a white woman married to a black man ovcorse he gonna make an example. In front of his family. But thats what jrue and any other athletes that date white women sign up for

Hopefully he sued someone or she did
Yea trust me seeing a blk man with a fine white woman burns them up inside lol.
I mean damn Tics127 how did you feel about it afterwards??
The way he said “I’m Black” then made a weird head jesters to insinuate he wasn’t happy to be black.
are you stupid? he made that head gesture because everyone knows he's black dummy
This is Amerikkka, Same Bat Channel, Same Bat Time! Hubby is fortunate he survived that entire situation because 1 he is black, and 2 he’s married to Becky which could have further infuriated that cop! 👮♀️

Yes. Unfortunately that's how many things actually come to be. We can read about other people's experiences, and all of that but for a lot of people it doesn't become a REAL thing until it happens to them. It's a perspective thing.

Seriously? Lol you're really that slow? The wife told the cop she was gonna call her husband to bring the license since she wasn't far from home. They waited for Jrue to show up with the license and he said he was going to wait to make sure his wife and sis were okay, which the cop didn't like.
