Never been this early before but I just want to say, as a younger ballerina you are doing amazing. Pointe is hard, I’ve been doing it for 3 years now and I promise it feels more normal the more you progress! the progress you have already made is amazing!! So proud ❤❤❤of you
I usually don't leave comments under a video but I relly love your content and message so I decided to do so. You videos are so inspiring for adult dancers. They motivate adult dancers too keep going and not give up on their dreams. I started my dance journey when I was 24. I started taking salsa classes, one of the latin american dances, because I just love those types of dances and I love the music. I attended dance sessions in a school that takes dance very seriously. They do all kinds of compatitions, they have won many trophies and medals. They take adult dance lessons very seriously too. Most latin dance schools just work with kids or teenagers. One guy in our school never dancer in his and started when he was 60. He had so many struggles in the beginning even afterwards, but he just kept going and now he is a high level advanced dancer in both tango and salsa. Another guy is an IT guy who spends most of him time sitting next to his computer that's why doing dance was a struggle for months. He was so persistent he would do two sessions in a row he just kept going and going and he overcame all of the struggles and eventually he became a really good dancer. This school does this to people. They don't care about your age, they don't even ask you about it. The don't pay attention to that, everyone gets equal treatment. I attended dance sessions in that school for two years. Later the pandemic happened and I had to quit. After the pandemic in 2022 I got a new job and becase of it was hard for to make time for dance sessions (that year I had to do a lot of tranings and preperations for the new job). So for two whole years I stopped take dance classes. In the beginning 2023 I started taking Salsa classes again at the same place and I did them most of the year. But this time it was with an instructor who was mean, rude, he criticizes everyone for no reason, he even swears sometime. In the end I quitted those sessions and I had to stop dancing but I did attend the for a few months in 2023 It was sad because I love dance and I love taking dance classes in that school. That mean instructor was the only one who did intermediate level classes in the school and others shcool in my city mostly do latin dance classes for kids and teenagers. Not so long after that the same school did free tango workshops which lasted around 3 months (October, November, December) so that people would feel encoureged to try something new. The instructor was somebody completely different. A man who has been dancing for most of his life. He is truly professional and is very passionate abot dance. He feela and lives dance. He is the one who mostly woked with the sixty year-old guy and the IT guy. I enjoyed taking tango classes with him. I improved so much in a short period of time. This year I had to stop taking tango for the first two months because I got a new job so once again had to do a lot of tranings and preperations for the new job too. Now in March I am taking the tango lessons again, I just want to keep the dance flow going. Adult dancers face so many struggles, it is so hard to balance something that is your passion like dance and work life. I have been dancing for three years now but not in continuty. I mostly took salsa clases. I've only done tango for four months. If had taken dance classes with out eve stopping I would have become a high level dancer by now but I always stay in the intermediate group because due to some circumstances I ofen have to stop and then Ihave to retake the lower lever classes. With time I am improving I am so so close to became a high level dancer in salsa. Tango is beautiful too I like it a lot but I am just a beginner in tango. I will never give up on this, I feel like I did this for years I stuck to for such a long time. Usually I try some hobbies for a few and then I just stop. There is a reason why keep going back to dance again and again and will just keep going. One day I will get there where I want to be. It's not easy the school is far from where I live on the other side of the city. If the school was somewhere nearer to where I live then would take both salsa and tango lessons four times a week, and this way I can barely make it to two classes of tango a week. Yes it get tough for adults it is hard to balance work life additional activities, but I just want to keep going even if I make it only once a week I want to keep it going. You videos inspire me soooo much and they motivate me to keep going!!
New dance update: The dance studio has moved to a location that is only 10 minutes away from my place, and I work online so straight after work I can go to dance, I have more time to dedicate to dance. Also the mean instructor is gone (I guess he was mean to a lot of people) and the passionate instructor who has been doing dance his whole life. He took over all of the salsa groups as well so I re-joined a salsa group. Tango is beautiful but Salsa is my passion!! My Salsa moves have improved so much ever since I re-joined the Salsa group in my school. I don't know about other dances but the two things that helped me improve my Salsa moves was to always keep my head up and gaze in front of me and even slightly lift the chin up. Also learning how to properly balance od one leg has helped a lot!! We as adults always face many struggles when starting dance (work- life balance, time management) but it's important to always dedicate some time in the week for something that we are passionate about. That's what makes life beautiful. Now I feel encouraged to start ballet for adults. There is this school that does classical and contemporary ballet for adults mixed together. They are amazing and they do awsome stuff. I don't know if I should do it, but it definitely seems interesting. Veronica's videos and her journey are definitely inspiring. I love watching her videos and witnessing her journey!!
I loved the video! From a ballet technique point of view, there is one thing I wanted to point out - I noticed you are trying to turn your feet out to 180 degrees but when you plie your knees are not tracking over your feet. If you cannot turn your legs out to match the turn out of your feet please don’t turn out your feet so much, you are going to end up with knee injuries and posture issues! Knees should always track over the feet. As for what you mentioned about the tip from your teacher about not pointing your foot too much - yes, the aim should be to be completely flat over your platform and not go past the platform. Think of it more as an extension of a straight leg and ankle rather than thinking of over extending your pointed foot . Keep it up, you are improving!
This is really helpful, and you’re absolutely right about the turn out! I definitely want to avoid knee injuries so I’ll be more mindful of this. Thank you for sharing this tip with so much care! 🥰
im 23 and i started ballet for the first ever time last week. it was such a struggle learning something new with the thought of, "am i too old for this?" repeating over and over in my head. but i ran into your channel and you have inspired me so much! thank you for showing the world that's it's never too late and that ballet is for everyone! i'm so excited to see how i will progress in ballet, i hope i progress as fast as you did! :'> sending all the love!
I love your videos! I am happy that you are following your dreams and share them with us. I am inspired too! I'm 51 years old and I've never taken a dance class in my life but danced a lot in my 20's and 30's (just clubbing with my friends) but it always brought me so much joy! Watching you makes me realize that its something my heart misses and something I want to work towards. I do specifically want to study BALLET. It may take me a year from now to take an in-person class but I will take your suggestion on taking classes online/at home when I am ready and will start NOW to improve my strength and flexibility. I love that you are so positive and encouraging!
I always enjoy watching your videos Veronica. 😊I love how realistic they are, showing the struggles and challenges of an adult ballerina. I can really relate and you always manage to put a smile on my face, motivating me to try my best despite the difficulty of ballet. AND OMG!! Your arches are amazing!!! You're such a graceful hard working ballerina!!! 🤩🤩
I never comment, but I just want you to know what an inspiration you are! I am also living in this crazy city, following my music dreams, and I relate to your journey so much. I have so much respect for you creating a place for yourself and other adult ballerinas in the world of ballet, which seems even more exclusionary than the music industry! These videos remind me that the journey toward your dreams is the best part--even when it feels hard. Wishing you all the best x
It’s so encouraging to see you getting stronger and more confident on pointe. I used to be pretty good at pointe when I was younger, but I haven’t worn my shoes since I was 24. I’m 36 now, and was delighted when my teacher finally told me I can start pointe again. Seeing your progress has encouraged me to not be too disappointed if my first few classes are rough. Thank you! ❤❤❤
The resistant part is soo true. I always feel so good after a ballet class, just moving my body in general. I have a good correction I learned from my ballet teacher last week I want to share! At 9:26 I noticed (because i do this myself haha) that when you’re going back you look at the ceiling, but I learned to look at the side and follow your hand with your head, it makes this step beautiful and it’s now my favorite! I hope that makes sense 😅
Being on pointe is sort of like pointing your finger really hard at someone or something, instead of going for the arch. I had to learn that too, a million years ago. Hat's off to you for doing this. Back in my day, most adults were told they couldn't do it.
I love watching your channel. I am on my own journey with Lyra and aerial classes. I took a ballet class that my studio offers and I was blown away! Can't wait to keep watching your progress.
I'm no expert but your développé is so beautiful! Would be the dream for me to just get to 90 degrees tbh. And your arms are lovely I always suffer from the droopy elbows when I forget to hold them up but I see none here. You're making me want to book back into a class 😄
Awww thank you, trust me though, I definitely get droopy arms when I’m learning something new as well! It happens- and keep working on your strength and flexibility and your hips will open up! (I have 6+ years of yoga teaching under my belt already, which is where my flexibility comes from!)
I love watching your videos and following your New York life and ballet adventures ☺️💐 It's inspiring to see how hard you work to follow your ballet dreams ☺️💕 I think you look so elegant and happy when you are dancing ☺️🌟 I also adore your cute little apartment and seeing all the sweet dogs you care for ❤🐶
What a great observation and insight! And great instincts to trust how your body feels and ask questions! I don’t know if this may help you, but I tell my pointe students that your entire core working to lift you up and support your ankles and feet in your pointe work. You may hear a lot of teachers give the cue “long toes” in releves and I like to use the imagery with my young students that your feet should feel like your hands slipping inside of a long pair of satin gloves. Your toes and fingertips are long and elegant and your strong core helps support that elegance by lifting your body up. However, I have also been in some classes where the ballet master wants full foot engagement through the metatarsals and there is some debate whether the cue “long toes” is an appropriate cue for teachers to use… this is mostly for movements en l’air- for example the extended leg in a developpe (your favorite!)- with the leg as turned out and foot as shaped as possible through the ankle and metatarsals. However, even in this instance the dancer should never feel like they curling or crunching in their shoe. Thanks for sharing your journey with us! I learn a lot from watching on ways I can be a better communicator for my young students and work on my teaching practice Keep it up!
They say its good luck if a bird p***ps on you. Its happened to me at the most craziest times and i was embarrased. Love your videos my dear. You are always an 🩰 inspiration.
Capricorn’s love a mountain to climb (it’s your goat nature.) and when I say mountain, I’m talking about something insurmountable, unimaginable, something so challenging, why would anyone do that? so starting ballet as an adult is extreme Capricorn core. And by doing the impossible you show others there is a path and it actually wasn’t impossible. you definitely inspired me to start ballet as an adult.
much improved, with pretty natural foot shape , the rolling up to pointe and lowering through the feet , articulation of all joints , is what gives strength and resistance for the feet , it may be very slow to achieve but essential, what happens to the soles of the feet , not seen or noticed , adds the lightness and ease that is good point technique
Thank you! Teaching yoga really helped with my flexibility and Pilates has helped so much with the strength! (I say it all the time so forgive me if I sound like a broken record, but it’s so true!)
Okk.. I have seen the half of the video and Now I am gonna take a Kathryn Morgan Pointe class at home and come back to watch the rest :))) Just can't help going on my pointed :)))) God I love Ballet!
I really want to go back to ballet! I'm currently 13 years old and I did ballet from the age of 5/6 until I was 8 years old and I stopped because of the pandemic, but since I was 11 years old I've wanted to do ballet again,I started taking jazz classes as part of a public project and won a scholarship for jazz and urban dances at a private dance studio, but it's not the same thing as ballet... Every day I ask my mother to help me go back to ballet but I live in Brazil and it's very expensive in my city.😟
I was the same way when I first went en pointe. I wasn't really told how to "stand" when you are en pointe when I first got my pointe shoes and when I returned to ballet and went back to pointe that's when I found out that I was improperly standing in my pointe shoes.
I've been following your journey for some time, and I'm very impressed with a number of things, including your decision to plunge in to the ballet world at the [supposedly] ancient age of 20-whatever, and also how much you've progressed. Good job! I always wish you'd hurry up and post your next video, and that they were more often. I appreciate how you've allowed yourself to be vulnerable, expressing your doubts as they've come up, and still plugging away at your dream. I do have one gripe, though: your use of the word "ballerina." Ballerina is a title achieved by a professional [female] ballet dancer after she's moved up through the ranks. NO ONE else has the right to call themselves a ballerina. By the same token, it drives me nuts when I see 3-year-old kids referred to as ballerinas!! It's like calling someone a doctor who didn't put in the blood, sweat and tears of a medical education. Anyway, hope you're going to continue letting us in on your ballet journey. I, for one, appreciate it.
Thank you for sharing so much all your journey, super inspiring. 🎉 You read my mind about your develope. It's stunning specially considering how long you have been dancing, your progress especially in this topic is unbelievable. Maybe it is specially stunning to me because maybe it is my weak point 😅 I've been dancing nonstop 7-17 years old and then on and off until now I'm 30 and my dancing still good but my develope is and was always not a lot more than 90 degrees 😂. I'm sure I'm not the only one so I suggest you do a tutorial on how you are working on it so efectively ❤ tips and tricks or something like that 😊
I will definitely share some stretching routines in the future! I definitely was very stiff for a long time too so I believe in the power of the stretch! lol and thank you so much for all your kindness, you're an absolute gem and I'm so grateful you're here.
So glad you got the pointe help - one downside of open adult classes is as you say - you easily can just do your thing. Because of your flexibility in your ankles, a quick look suggests you are doing just fine - and considering the brief amount of time you have been on pointe you are doing great.
I don’t know if you watched Barbie when you were little, but have you ever seen the movie Barbie and the Pink Shoes? I feel like you’d really like it, such an inspiring take on dancing ✨
damn how is your developpe so good?! I've been doing ballet for 16 years. I'm very flexible, but still cannot get mine that high. You must be blessed with long hamstrings! So jealous.
Your foot articulation is beautiful! And your placement for your pirouettes is really improving! You want to get your nose back to the front before your body - aka snap that head around and spot :) . Keep it up! Love watching your videos :). And lol I wish I could give you private lessons - you seem like such a wonderful student
aww thank you! yes I'm working so hard on the saying "no!" in pirouettes, it's helping so much! And based on the encouragement you've already shared here, I wish I could do a private lesson with you too! haha
@@VeronicaViccora I live in CT, not super far from the city! I genuinely would. I love how eager you are to learn! The best and most fulfilling kind of student
I really hope you see this comment, if not I’ll try to remember to post it again on a newer video, but I think it could be helpful to you to check out Broche ballet-the website, not the UA-cam channel. Julie goes in depth into details about the feet, ankles, hip placement that aren’t always explicitly talked about in class until, like you’re saying here, you know enough to ask questions, and even then teachers don’t always have enough time to give a full explanation to us beginners. I’m signed up just for her on demand library of classes not the live ones because it’s too expensive. I feel like for $15 a month the library of classes has been invaluable for me.
Great video, Veronica, only I find the captions in non-bold yellow difficult to read. Also, captions do not stay up long enough to digest. Thanks! Marian (Italia)
i think your feet are too strong for those i think you need harder pointe shoes but im only saying that because your feet look like how mine were when i started😅😅
Hi! As an adult to an adult (sorry but you are not a ballerina, you just learn ballet...), I have some positive and negative reflections on what you do. Being passionate about ballet and asthaethics is 100%, and keep doing that! Flexibility wise - I Don't know how much you stretch per day and what you've done before, but pretty amazing u have your english split - that's something! Still I see that your turnout muscles are weak and therefore your placement is sluggish, knees are always dropping down when you raise your leg more than 45 degrees. Feet position/angle is also problematic, don't you watch back your vids? Sorry but if u do so, don't you see that your feet are horribly sickled in many positions? That's a basic error, so as knees dropping... I wouldn't put on Pointe shoes until my feet are sickled. Sorry but it clearly shoes you are nowhere near to the level where positioning of joints (ankle-knee-hip) coming naturally to the right places, in strength and balance your also nowhere near - first u need to build up to that level!!! It's like working on a house's 3. store whilst basement is collapsing... Your also much more prone to injury while you haven't got appropriate strength. It is not by chance that all big ballet schools making the students do tests which they need to pass BEFORE they let them an pointe!!! This also includes tricky things, that u has to be able to balance with EYES CLOSED - that's the coordination test fxpl in Royal ballet school I know that, but watch some vaganova school exams or classes or ABS tests, etc to learn some humbleness and to develop better without being harmful to your own self... Those are just advices. U can freely ignore them. I only suggest this, cause I started to learn ballet when I was 30, was my childhood dream to do so, and it is pretty hard to do it, whilst the requerements from an adult in life are pretty different than from a 5 - year old, so freaking hard to have min amount of required time, and it is almost impossible to go with an acceptable speed when you see how much other duties u have... I Don't wanna discourage you, but for me, it is too much from the black swan vibe in your vids, whilst basic pro foundational points are conviniently overlooked (feet sickling, overall muscle strength, hip-knee-ankle alignment, developing turnout gradually so as technique which builds upon it, etc) , and vids filled up with additional emotional ventillation, which, I don't think the public needs... If u would be a prima ballerina of NYCB maybe it would be interesting, but you're not... So pls cut the crap and focus on what you're doing... That' s it.
?? What a hateful comment. What are you doing correcting her when you're also a student. Clearly her TEACHER approved her to be on pointe and she's working on it, so get off your high horse and work on yourself. We adult ballerinas support each other and this negative energy isn't it.
Firstly, ballerina just means female ballet dancer, doesn’t have to mean you are professional or not. As for your critique on her technique, she’s still new to ballet and like all us adult dancers, still learning, so please don’t be too hard on her. I don’t think she’s sickling her feet that much - it’s more her foot placement in retire and the fact that her feet are over arched from having flexible ankles, but that’s not dangerous or wrong in any way. The only thing I’m really seeing is her knee tends to come forward when coming out of her side develope back to retire which makes the foot appear sickled but is actually just a turn out issue. As for how she presents her video, this is her vlog, she’s allowed to put whatever parts of her day she wants. I like it when creators put a little bit of their lives in their blog, you can really get to know them better. As for being ready for pointe or not, I think she’s fine to be doing barre work en pointe which is exactly what she’s doing. Doing pointe will help her with alignment as well as strength so I think it’s a great thing to be doing.
You must have a pretty sad life to talk the way u did. And maybe you should work on your communication skills instead of having this passive aggressive attitude towards someone that is LEARNING. I don’t know if you’ve seeking validation, or you’re just a mean and sad person that can’t deal with others happiness, but feel free to keep your mouth shut when you don’t have anything nice ( or valid) to say.
"vids filled up with additional emotional ventillation, which, I don't think the public needs" - I saw your other comment to her where you basically emotionally vomitted all over her comment section, so I don't think you are really in any position to discuss 'emotional ventilation'.

I absolutely love that you created and run those adult ballet workshops. When an opportunity you want doesn’t exist, create it!
Thank you so much! Couldn’t agree more! 💕

Being on pointe is sort of like pointing your finger really hard at someone or something, instead of going for the arch. I had to learn that too, a million years ago. Hat's off to you for doing this. Back in my day, most adults were told they couldn't do it.
Beautiful Veronica your turnout looks amazing, I’m jealous. You should make a video on how you improved it!
I love watching your channel. I am on my own journey with Lyra and aerial classes. I took a ballet class that my studio offers and I was blown away! Can't wait to keep watching your progress.
Thank you so much! Your journey sounds so graceful and fun!
this video is so good!! this deserves thousands of likes, i like your aesthetic
@@jolichat3 awwww thank you!! That means the absolute world 🥹💕🩰 thank you for the support and I’m sending so much love!
You never give up 👏👏👏
I'm no expert but your développé is so beautiful!
I love watching your videos and following your New York life and ballet adventures ☺️💐 It's inspiring to see how hard you work to follow your ballet dreams ☺️💕 I think you look so elegant and happy when you are dancing ☺️🌟 I also adore your cute little apartment and seeing all the sweet dogs you care for ❤🐶
awww this comment really made my day
What a great observation and insight!
Just got back from ballet class and am psyched to watch!
Yay!! I love the enthusiasm! 🥰🥰
Your movement is lovely 🩰✨
thank you so much
They say its good luck if a bird p***ps on you. Its happened to me at the most craziest times and i was embarrased. Love your videos my dear. You are always an 🩰 inspiration.
Haha thank you so much, and I’m glad I’m not alone. Just two lucky gals we are 😂
I don't know what it is but I feel like this video might be my favorite so far
Wow you are doing amazing, you have advanced so much and I’m so proud of you, just imagine how good you’ll be in a few years❤
omg the intro is sooooo aesthetic. beautiful editing
Awww thank you so much! 🥰 glad to know you appreciate all the work!
You’ve come so far in pointe work!! You can tell your strength is really developing ✨ Your développe is also so beautiful 🤩
thank you so much kind soul!
Your dog is so adorable 🥹❤️
Hehe I just take care of them but yes, all my puppy friends are SO cute 🥰
much improved, with pretty natural foot shape ,
the rolling up to pointe and lowering through the feet , articulation of all joints ,
is what gives strength and resistance for the feet ,
it may be very slow to achieve but essential,
what happens to the soles of the feet , not seen or noticed ,
adds the lightness and ease that is good point technique
I just love seeing point shoes and your face
Aww you are so SWEET! Thank you! 😊
Ah, developpé is one of your faves, that's why you're so good!
Honestly very impressed with your flexibility and strength.
Thank you! Teaching yoga really helped with my flexibility and Pilates has helped so much with the strength! (I say it all the time so forgive me if I sound like a broken record, but it’s so true!)
one can really see your progress! Your active flexibility is impressive!
Thank you so much! That really means a lot
Girl I found your channel a few years ago - and now it's official. Im moving to NY in just two weeks to pursue being a dancer Im 24 ❤
YAY!!! Congratulations 🎉 that’s so exciting 💕💕
Okk.. I have seen the half of the video and Now I am gonna take a Kathryn Morgan Pointe class at home and come back to watch the rest :))) Just can't help going on my pointed :)))) God I love Ballet!
ok I am safe and back :) Let's see the rest of it while my feet is healing from all the trauma :))
OMG!!!! Loved it !!!
Thank you kind human! 🥰
Every day I ask my mother to help me go back to ballet but I live in Brazil and it's very expensive in my city.😟
what eyeshadow are you wearing at the end? I love it!
i love your videos ♡
thank you so much kind soul
Thank you so much Marsha! You’re always so encouraging! 🥰
I don’t know if you watched Barbie when you were little, but have you ever seen the movie Barbie and the Pink Shoes? I feel like you’d really like it, such an inspiring take on dancing ✨
YOU ARE SO PRETTY YOU LOOK LIKE LANA DEL REY 💗💗
Could you do a video on your stretching routine?
Yes! I plan on creating one in the coming months :)
damn how is your developpe so good?!
Hey I’m sure you may do this outside of the footage shown but when it comes to pirouettes make sure you’re still spotting, just a helpful tip!
YES! Always such a great reminder. That's truly made the difference of actually being able to land them or not.
your feet look amazing in those shoes!! keep it up! :)
Thank you so much! 🥰🥰
Where is your pink cardigan from?? It’s so cute!!
It’s from Urban Outfitters! Their “out from under pointelle” collection 🥰
Me, a Capricorn, watching this and being read by another Capricorn
👁️👄👁️ I knew there was a star alignment here 🤭
Great video, Veronica, only I find the captions in non-bold yellow difficult to read. Also, captions do not stay up long enough to digest. Thanks! Marian (Italia)
Where can we go to register for the workshop pls ps I’m a cap too totally get it!
New workshops are coming up so soon! If you’re on my email list you’ll be the first to be notified, otherwise, I’ll share them publicly very soon! 🥰🫶
Does angone have any begginer tips for me? Im 16 pls 🙏😭
i think your feet are too strong for those i think you need harder pointe shoes but im only saying that because your feet look like how mine were when i started😅😅
getting pooped on by a bird is a sign of good luck !
Well then I’ll take it as a good sign! Haha 😂
If you danced barefoot you'd have 2m subs
Tell us how you really feel… no, don’t hold back! Lol
Молодец! Не надо бояться мечтать и идти к своей мечте! Успехов! Радости в любимом деле! ❤
