For example,
1/100=2/x.
Now x will be the distance.
Similarly, u can use the same formula to solve rise and gradient(slope) also.

U have taken mm in numerator and m in dinomerator??there has to be same quantity above and below.

1/100=0.01 meter(this is 1meter slop
1meter =1000mm
0.01×1000=10mm(every 1 meter equal to 10mm slop)
6.5m×10=65 mm

So for those who want it in simple words.
1/8 of an inch per foot = 1%
1/4 of an inch per 12 inches = 2%
So that means that 5/8 per ft = 5%
