My mother is on hospice care right now. She has been suffering from Stage 4 Glioblastoma since March 19th 2019, which is a very long time. Prayers are appreciated
My best friend is currently taking care of her mother in law while she passes. Hospice has been involved, but it’s extremely different than what I thought. I thought they were there around the clock assisting the family. She is literally in the last phase and will be passing very soon. However, I really thought the Hospice professionals would stay there for the end. Rather than just an hour each day. I’m not trying to sound negative about them, they have been such a blessing. I’m just confused about what happens for the last few hours. Thank you very much.
Sounds lovely but I've been through hospice with many of family member and the bottom line is family has to take over the responsibility for administrative medication the nurse comes maybe once maybe twice a week the bathing is once or twice a week the rest is all up to the family and the family doesn't get any support unless they are a big family if it's a small family you're on your own and Hospice provides very little Daily support. If you think that putting your loved 1 in hospice at home is going to free your time your much lead deluded you will be tied to that situation day and night and it will be extremely distressing. I know hospital willing tended but you need to be more honest about what people can expect in terms of support cause it just isn't there and I think multiple hospital is actually
I have Gastroparesis and really life is not worth living if I keep suffering with it, im looking to go to hospice im 33 and pretty much a nobody and have nothing so i have nothing to lose
i had 2 stoke and cancer not going thru cancer treatment to soon for hospice dr. says so he sent me to a pain dr.. 2 hours round trip went 1 time i cant do it to painfull so i will be glag when i die
Please find a kind CNA who knows the healthcare system and can be an advocate and caregiver. If you have little income, your county will have in home support services for in home health care for daily living activities, free to you. Find just one person who can help with both in hone care process of sign up, and finding caring knowledgeable cna to be by your side.
These hospices put a 6 months countdown timer in front of each patient's bed. This is to facilitate the patient in understanding how much time they have left. After the timer is complete, if the patient still doesn't die, the hospice nurses kill them. It's philosophical to the families. I don't really understand why anyone would abandon their loved ones to die here instead of trying till the last??
Has there been any cases of someone recovering and getting off hospice? Or is hospice just treatment to keep a patient comfortable for when they're on their way out?
It can happen believe it or not. I just spoke to someone with a stage 4 cancer Dx, who was put on inpatient hospice, but got stronger/better, and was able to go home with family. I’d never heard of anything like this before now. Miracles happy everyday! 🥰
This is a little late but I was on Hospice for 7 months following a diagnosis of terminal liver cancer. I seen a nurse once a week or less. Every discomfort was immediately addressed with a prescription until I had a box of 14 different pills, even though none of my symptoms were something anyone would associate with liver cancer. No yellowing, no swelling. I finally just stopped taking everything except morphine and I got better. That was over 2 years ago.

I'm very great full that I unknowingly gave my grandma hospice care and she died with dignity❤

What if a family member is placed on hospice and live past six months do they stay on still
I had a hospice nurse tell me once that you have about 2 weeks left when the nailbeds in your toes start turning blue.
