@Michael 😂😂 that's cute. Can never argue with a snowflake. All they know how to do is jump straight to insults because their emotions out rule statistics right? Lol just like "guilty till proven innocent". 🤣
If you want to avoid the margin account and unlimited risk to the up side, long puts at the money can work as a synthetic short position as long as you can get enough time for the move. One advantage to this approach in a cash account is T+1 vs T+2 settlement. Another is that you cannot lose more than you put into the contracts. Cash accounts do not have to worry about PDT either. Keep in mind that someone does have to sell the stock to make the price go down though - it doesn't have to be you. Also, long calls can be used to protect your position to the up side. Just as with "hard to borrow", not all stocks have options and not all options have narrow spreads and good liquidity.
I just started using CMEG Sterling. Yesterday, I shorted on the simulator and made much more than I did on long trades on the premise that "everything that goes up must finally come down". After watching this video, I doubt that it's a good idea to short on my real trade account considering the great risk of losing more than I put in. Thanks, Ross!

From one red beard to another, this was an absolutely great video! Being able to see a couple examples of a short in action helped my brain understand the concept 100% !! Keep up the good work!
In the example at 1:00 - As an alternative to taking on the risks of shorting stocks, margin requirements, finding shares to borrow, etc., you could simply buy an $85 put option (or any strike with a delta of -.70 or above), and make money as the stock drops. You would be long the put option, but make money on the downside.

Thanks again for your answer I do have another question . I’m part of your Warrior pro in your classes. I was wondering is there any video about how to set up hotkeys about Trailing Stop Orders ... Thanks again
Thanks Ross! That’s an awesome explanation. A couple Quick questions about shorting: 1) will a broker auto-cover a short position after a certain amount of loss? Like whatever your max account liquidity is or something. 2) does hitting a button like flatten in thinkorswim also flatten your short positions? If so is it just market buying/selling when using that feature? 3) does float size impact amount of shares to be borrowed. Like I’m starting to realize that lower floats seem to favor bullish trends because as more shares change hands to a bull side holding for new gains limits deflation of a stock as in CPAH yesterday. While higher floats favor bearish trends such as TRIL yesterday where it popped but interest moved into other stocks decreasing buy volume allowing for shorts to squeeze it down. Does this level of thinking make sense? Thanks again for all your videos and tutelage.
Munkay, yes a broker will close out a position if the draw down is over the amount you have in your account. As for flattening the position, I would think it does the same if you're short, though I would test it on the sim. The float does affect the borrow rate the lower the float the less shares available to borrow. Glad you enjoyed the video!

Hey Ross as we know you go long buy on the ask and sell in strength on ask but bid if it shows weakness however I would like to know do you short on the bid to get in quickly or ask?
Some stocks have limited amounts of shares available to borrow, which makes the demand for those shares higher or in some cases makes it so you can't get any shares to short.

Hey, Ross God bless you. For everything you doing.
I turned 5 thousand into, 45k in couple of months. Thanks you you.
What broker you use !?
I started with Robinhood. But now I’m going to switch. To an paid broker. And purchase, trade ideias.
Thanks Ismael, that's awesome!
@@ismaeldeoliveira6924 Nice!
Be proud of yourself. Great job.
Hey Ross as we know you go long buy on the ask and sell in strength on ask but bid if it shows weakness however I would like to know do you short on the bid to get in quickly or ask?
I only trade to the long side and would not be interested in shorting, but if I did, I would likely short at the bid
Hi what trade co you use out of USA what name please sir
Hi Ross. Can you recommend a platform for me to trade on that has a practice account so that I can slowly hone any should I may have ...

HOLD HOLD NEVER GIVE IN!!! Diamond hands
thank you Ross
You're welcome!
Great Explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this info.
You mantiond couple of times that there is a limit to short position. Can you give examples.
Some stocks have limited amounts of shares available to borrow, which makes the demand for those shares higher or in some cases makes it so you can't get any shares to short.
I ment to ask. How long do i have till i sell back the short position.?
Great tutorial Ross. Thanks for sharing the wisdom!
Yeah, you're welcome Randy!
Im so intrested in this "business" i guess, i`ve been watching you for like 12hours a day for couple days now. i would love to start trading with money at somepoint but i cant figure out if i need to open a certain bank account or what. Im from finland and i thought is it even possible to trade with money or do i need to trade with crypto? (if that even is possible from finland). would love to join your sessions and lives but cant really afford it and if i cant even trade from europe with your teachings. CAN SOMEONE GUIDE ME PLS cant seem to find any information.
You can definitely trade the US stock market as a Finland resident! The best way for you to learn more about how you can get started would be to join us in the next live Warrior Trading webinar. It's free to sign up and you will receive a copy of my best selling ebook "How To Day Trade" just for attending!

You bet!
The best is to use margin to short stocks. That way you maximize your potential gains.
Thanks for watching!
Are you from Louisiana? I was told you were. I’m from LA, thought I was one of the only day traders from the boot 😂
No I am from VT!
Would've been nice if he was from Louisiana lol whodat
You shorting amc bro?
Thanks for watching, he is not shorting AMC at the moment.
When short selling stock then buying the stock to get out of the short sell, do you end up owning stock in the company?
imagine you short sell 100 stocks, so your balance is -100 stocks, when you buy the +100 stocks to get out of your short sell, you end up in 0 stocks owned
How to short:
1. Call broker, “yo, gimmie 2000 shares”, broker say wait a sec... finally says, you got it 👍🏻 (he took it from someone and moved it to your margin account)
2. You buy (short) at X
3.🙏 the shorting gods the stock〽️, else you have ♾ loss .. 😱
4. You buy at X-Y 😈 the broker is not happy 🤬
5. You can take that to the bank 👻
lol
Loved this video! Scared the bejeezus out of me too.
haha, glad you enjoyed!
Anybody notice his ticker actually has the company logos?! That is slick programming. I wonder how it’s done. Does it find them on the fly or is there a db of all the big logos?
I think it's a database!
