      It already exist, as in, you can already make yourself taller with current modern medical procedure called *Leg-lengthening* it's a form of surgery where they break your leg bones into two, insert metal pins and rods then let it heal to extend your height.

      Technology has advanced so much from when I was a kid, a lot of the things I watched in sci-fi films they said would be impossible are now possible or nearing becoming possible. I feel like I'm living in a sci-fi film sometimes I love it.

    This could have implications for everything from replacement joints to living armor (not using human tissue of course) and buildings that can literally grow stronger with time or repair themselves over time after damage, similar to a tree.

    I worked 14 years in pressed insulation ceramic parts. The material is strong but brittle under forces. The trick is to make it yield under mechanical leverage. Polymers are necessary. Perhaps rubber impregnation. If, of course, you can offer polymers with flexible properties. Those that are self-replicating. This is a thinking and moving organism, not a machine.

      nah if they can replace the same cartilage and bone that'd be best-since it moves with your body. Titanium is rigid and can wear out over time. I've had major back pain also so I can relate. In my case if I exercise and lose some weight I'll be fine. I used to be very fit but I let myself go and time flies so fast, you don't notice that you're putting your health at risk, live and learn.

    A relative of mine has worked in a group developing a system to create a model of a patient's heart to train clinical operations on. The patient's heart is scanned with ultrasound and then 3d printed for surgeons to test with and tested on functionality afterwards to know what surgeons are gonna do in the real surgery. I should be able to create a contact to the development team.

      Likely very high at this time, but remember that things like cultured meat patties were exorbitantly expensive just a few years back and are now nearly average in price. As time goes on, the prices will drop!

    Bones aren't just structural...they also produce red blood cells. How would 3D printed bones handle that function and what would be the results from that?

      Agreed, there's always a con to these new inventions now a days that they hide or want to experiment with. I wouldn't be so savvy on how this is the next thing including that it has ceramic which isn't found in the human body... I mean who knows, this might create a new virus or a disease, just throwing my thoughts out there though.

    honestly one of the things that limit human strength (in my opinion) is our bones, because we have the strength to punch something hard enough to brake them (especially if we dont even mean to hit the object that hard)
