Last dialogue said by padmavati was "Rajputi bangles/bracelets are as powerful as Rajputi sword". Those English subtitles were different from the actual dialogues
Well, actually, it's not a literal translation. Besides, the last lines act more like proverbs/figures of speech. Bangles ('Kangan') symbolize femininity and passivity, traditionally. Swords ('Talvaar') represent masculinity and strength, again, conventionally. But, the message here is that women's hands are not made to wear bangles as jewelry; women are not only created to be beautiful. They are also fierce warriors when it comes to protect their loved ones. Men should not make the foolish mistake of taking them to be mute sufferers. In time of danger, they can protect themselves as well as others!
The sentence still means the same thing though. Literal translations can be confusing for foreigners and English subtitles are usually for foreigners to understand the language.
Iam also a Rajput , since Childhood we have heard stories of our ancestors bravery and sacrifices , we hv always been taught never to surrender . always protect women ,no matter even if u hv to lay down your life . . .Jai Rajputana .
Self immolation by Rajput queens is a tradition to protect their honor... Among the Rajput and Hinduism it is respectful thing to them.... You can take it as the Episode of GOT where Lannisters were attacked and Cersey asked maester for Poison.... To protect herself from torture and painful death...
If they weren't actually this brave then the oldest (and most invaded) civilization would've gone vanished by now...They literally had a spine of steel that's why they stood upright for so long.
Rajput Kshatriyas are a warrior clan of India. Khilji was expanding his kingdom and he attacked the king of Chittor, who had a wife called Padmavati. She became a symbol of Jauhar - self immolation, custom in which widow of Rajputs burned themselves to avoid rape, slavery and necrophilia in Indian subcontinent. That practice continued in India throughout islamic invasion. Some historian believed that Jauhar played a major role in avoiding Islamization of subcontinent. Her sacrifice became a epitome of resistance of subcontinent/Hindu royal women (majority Rajput - a warrior class). The men do kesariya or Saka after the woman do Jauhar in which they where saffron colored clothes and fight till the death killing and slaughtering as many enemy soldiers can be killed hence dying like brave men heroically.
Sir with due respect..it is historical inevident..the reason I m saying this is bcz the person who wrote this is from 16 th century..and this incident is from 13 th century..300 years after the incident..so no proof of jauhar..sorry sir..and 1 more thing allaudin saved you from devastation that would be your destiny if mongols had invaded bharat..but he failed only due to allaudin ..who defeated them at the time when they were invincible..

jauhar is a concept. every man goes for the war and every woman after defeat of their kingdom jumps in jauhar kind(a pond of fire) after death of all soldiers and king to protect themselves from attackers.
Padmavati's beauty was know far and wide..when the crazy narcissistic king Khilji heard about it, he wanted her. So he declared war against their state. When it was clear that Rajputs were going to lose the war, Padmavati chose to immolate herself rather than be raped by the enemy. Thousands of other women participated in the self immolation. It's a true story.
It's an irony that she dilevered a dialogue.. "Rajput women are as powerful as Rajput women" but she didn't even hold a sword for a single second in whole 2 min trailer. I don't understand, they made film on padmavati or khilji..☺️
Santosh, The movie is fantasy and not textbook history. We have to waith for the movie to see what Bhansali did to support this statement. Although what real Padmini did was a extremely brave thing too.
Santosh Saini power is not abt holding a sword and the litteral translation would be rajput bracelets are as strong/powerful as rajput swaord which means that women have the same powere thr men have not neccesirally fighting with swords beating an enemy can be done in many ways

But as he was a "Muslim" he always will be hated .. period
People in India already had a rough idea about the history of Rani Padmavati. That is why the trailer just focuses on the artistic beauty of the period.

So if you repent, that is best for you; but if you turn away - then know that you will not cause failure to Allah . And give tidings to those who disbelieve of a painful punishment. 9:4 Excepted are those with whom you made a treaty among the polytheists and then they have not been deficient toward you in anything or supported anyone against you; so complete for them their treaty until their term [has ended]. Indeed, Allah loves the righteous [who fear Him]. 9:5 And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. 9:6 And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah. Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know. 9:7 How can there be for the polytheists a treaty in the sight of Allah and with His Messenger, except for those with whom you made a treaty at al-Masjid al-Haram? So as long as they are upright toward you, be upright toward them. Indeed, Allah loves the righteous [who fear Him].
mullhasaab420 9:12 And if they break their oaths after their treaty and defame your religion, then fight the leaders of disbelief, for indeed, there are no oaths [sacred] to them; [fight them that] they might cease. 9:13 Would you not fight a people who broke their oaths and determined to expel the Messenger, and they had begun the attack upon you the first time? Do you fear them? But Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are [truly] believers.

i will tell you the story in accordance with the film but with some extra information background the 2nd battle of tarrain in 1192 ad marked the end of hindu rule and the beginning of around 7 and half year long islamic rule in india the first dynasty was the ghurid dynasty the winner of 2nd battle of tarain. the second dynasty was mamluk dynasty who is said responsible for the beginning of delhi sultanate the last and the most powerful ruler was ghiyaz ud din balban however he was defeated by khiljis a tribe who were turkic origin but settled in present day afghanistan, conquered delhi. the first ruler of khilji dynasty was jalal ud din khilji his nephew and his son in law allaudin khilji("the bad guy") won the heart of delhi sultanate after defeating the successors of chenghis or genghis khan(mongols) but soon after he assassinated his uncle and then emperor of delhi, jalal ud din khilji. he captured the throne in 1296ad. the tale allaudin khilji was cruel and lusty king however he was significantly successful at his northern and southern military campaign. when heard the beauty of queen of chittor, padmavati("the hot and sexy girl") who was said that no motheri in the world had born a woman more beautiful than her(around that time). allaudin khilji's lust carried him to chittor to make relationship with her. the way was not easy for allaudin as the king of chittor and husband of padmavati ratansem or ratan singh (the good guy) tried his best to defend his kingdom with his very powerful army. after many unsuccessful attacks ultimately allaudin was able to capture chittor by breaking the rules of war(cheating). khilji after killing ratansem went inside the fort to look for padmavat, fortunately queen padmavati did jauhar(self-immolation) and saved the prestige of her and her kingdom.
This is true story about a Hindu Queen... She was so beautiful ... Every king wanted to her..... This movie show Rajasthani culture .. Rajasthan is a state of India . it has its different culture which we can see in ghoomar song.......
Yes this is historical...and this movie is about how a ruthless king of Delhi allaudin khilji invades mewar a small rajput kingdom in order to capture the goddess queen padmavati. This movie shows the bravery of the rajput women.
Guyz, You all are amazing. Thank you for respecting our culture while guessing it, cause I have seen other reactions and they were completely clueless and insulting and hurtful. You have to watch 'Ghoomar' from same movie and react. I am said that movie is stuck in lot of political controversy here and I am not sure if it will release. But you have to do GHOOMER. Much love from India. Rishi
The Tide Pool : In ancient India, Rajput women used to do Jauhar(mass self immolation), to escape being captured and forcibly turned into sex slaves , when Muslim sultans invaded their kingdom. Rani Padmini was the queen of Chittorgarh Fort in Rajasthan. Truly epic Fort of Rajasthan.
The guy with the grey shirt is kind of on the right track with why the self immolation was even considered an option. Obviously it’s no one’s first choice lol but given the context it is just awfully sad. The war was created with the sole reason that the opposing king lusted after the queen. Once the attack began and she realized that they were loosing, she and the women of the village burned themselves. Prisoners of war are not treated and IF they are women, the story usually ends up one way-rape and death. The attacking king was known to be a vile tyrant. The poor women knew that they were screwed once their men perished in the war and so chose to burn themselves to death. It also has some Sikh and Muslim collision.
I can understand you people may not be very impressed with it...you weren't hyped for it.. we like it for the actors...there was controversy about shooting of this movie as well, the director was beaten up for manipulating the history
The Director of this movie .Mr .Sanjay leela bhansali is a true Indian director with phenomenal direction in his movies and represent India and Indian Art ,Culture ,Tradition ,Dance .... hatts off to him ..... and 🖕u guys .it's very easy to give comments but it's hard to feel and make the historical movies rather thn making movies like (wrong turn or James Bond or animated Avatar )
its about indian history.queen padmabati was a rajpoot queen.he was the wife of rana uday singh the king of rajputana.alauddin khilji was from afganistan.he loved padmabati and attacked them to get her.this is the basic story.
Thanks ..we enjoyed your reaction ..you may also want to react to Rhithik's Dhoom Again and Defeat Defeat brand , student of the year 1 & 2, Ra.one , robot and 2.0, etc etc ...haha..we'd be happy to see you react to them .
Padmavathi is an extremely beautiful Indian queen and wife of king rajput. And alahudeen khiji the turkish ruler came to know about the beauty of the queen and he wanted her. And he went for war with him.. And during the battle king rajput dies and queen Padmavathi sacrifice her life by burning herself.. Queen Padmavathi is considered as a role model for Indian woman who respect thier husband a lot give importance to pure martial relationship.
its history not a fiction.. Rani padmavathi was know for her beauty and Allaudin khilji wanted to marry her.. who was the wife of Raja Rathan singh.. and the story continues with a twist in a mirror...which plays a crucial role in the story,
It is based on historic event on which a book was written 200 years after but oral history of we Rajput is different and it's a tragedy that our men died in battle fighting 10:1 and our 18k woman burnt themselves to not fall for the slavery of the Muslim
I am a rajput i can feel the pain of the queen Padmavati, When khilji conquered Chittorgarh and defeated Rana Ratan Singh then Queen Padmavati with other ladies attempted the Johar ( jumped into the burning well instead of getting into hands of allaudin khilji).
It's good to read your comment. I'm sick and tired of so many people trying to prove that Padamavat is fictional. I learned this in my history class in class 7. It stayed with me. Rajputs are brave, and this true story is very moving. It shows how beautiful the true culture of India is.
in the history Padmaboti Did suside with her selves. and when Sultan captured and enter there The mighty Sultan Didn't find any one in the castle. And this war was for padmabati. she was extraordinary Beautiful. so this war luched by sultan.

Padmavati is a fictional character , people do say she was real .. What happned was the villain the kind of India wanted to capture her (the queen Padmavati) as she was married to a hindu rajput king . She killed herself in fire with many women so that she couldn't be captured !
PADMAVATI ,here is a True Painful Story , was a most beautiful queen in whole of India , Khilji ( MUSLIM ruler , also Ruler of Delhi ) comes to know about it and marches with his Army to Win her . . when he fails he just ask Rajput jst to show her in Mirrior and he will consider Padmavati his sister & leave . Rajput King just to avoid war , he accepts and welcome him with Traditions and when he drops him out of palace door , Khilji breaks his promise & kidnaps her husband & sends letter to queen surrender yourself within 10 days or RAjput King Head will be cut . But RAJPUT are very sensitive about their women and pride . so she orders her General Gora and Badal and few Brave Rajput Soldiers , who went and releases King . this is a big Strike and gave Bloody nose to Khilji in his home . . .and now Real war Happens and Rajputs are ready to face and Women are ready for Jauhar ( Jauhar is a tradition , where women used to jump in Ball of Fire , to keep their Pride alive , and Not surrendering , so that No Invader could embarass them as slave ) . Khilji was coward and Bisexual by NAture , its written in history . . . .Hindu Rajputs were very Brave fighters . . .the way General Gora and Badal releases the King is itself a best Military Operation in history . they kept their promise (Given to queen Padmavati )alive . he fought with his head cut and killed Khilji general . Its because of HIndu Rajputs and sikh who fought Invaders for 700 years and still 80% of Hindus exist even today In INDIA .
In Short .. This is the Story of an Indian Queen who was Very Beautiful ........ Her Name was Padmavati ...... Everything was Good .. But Then Suddenly A Jihadi Mu$lim King saw her and want her to be his 5th or 6th wife by Force(Also want her to Convert to I$lam) ..... She Refuses and Threatened him Don't Ever come to our Country ... That Mu$lim king was very Cruel as Usual , He want her as Slave..... Then Huge War Between Two kingdoms broke Out ..... (Between Indians and Mu$lims)

The story runs around the queen
This is a debatable history!
i will tell you the story in accordance with the film but with some extra information
background
the 2nd battle of tarrain in 1192 ad marked the end of hindu rule and the beginning of around 7 and half year long islamic rule in india the first dynasty was the ghurid dynasty the winner of 2nd battle of tarain. the second dynasty was mamluk dynasty who is said responsible for the beginning of delhi sultanate the last and the most powerful ruler was ghiyaz ud din balban however he was defeated by khiljis a tribe who were turkic origin but settled in present day afghanistan, conquered delhi. the first ruler of khilji dynasty was jalal ud din khilji his nephew and his son in law allaudin khilji("the bad guy") won the heart of delhi sultanate after defeating the successors of chenghis or genghis khan(mongols) but soon after he assassinated his uncle and then emperor of delhi, jalal ud din khilji. he captured the throne in 1296ad.
the tale
allaudin khilji was cruel and lusty king however he was significantly successful at his northern and southern military campaign. when heard the beauty of queen of chittor, padmavati("the hot and sexy girl") who was said that no motheri in the world had born a woman more beautiful than her(around that time). allaudin khilji's lust carried him to chittor to make relationship with her. the way was not easy for allaudin as the king of chittor and husband of padmavati ratansem or ratan singh (the good guy) tried his best to defend his kingdom with his very powerful army. after many unsuccessful attacks ultimately allaudin was able to capture chittor by breaking the rules of war(cheating). khilji after killing ratansem went inside the fort to look for padmavat, fortunately queen padmavati did jauhar(self-immolation) and saved the prestige of her and her kingdom.
Its Helen of Troy in reverse, where the bad guy is trying to get the good guys wife.
This movie shows the bravery of the rajput women.
it's a historical- fantasy....... an amalgamation of history and FANTASY.
The scar faced person was the same guy who was looking at the four mirrors
Guyz, You all are amazing. Thank you for respecting our culture while guessing it, cause I have seen other reactions and they were completely clueless and insulting and hurtful. You have to watch 'Ghoomar' from same movie and react. I am said that movie is stuck in lot of political controversy here and I am not sure if it will release. But you have to do GHOOMER. Much love from India.
Rishi
And padmavati was the queen of mewar she was known for her beauty and bravery!
You guys should see the movie when it'll hit the theatres. Nice reaction btw. =)

Padmavati is the women's name. It is based on real events of Indian history.
A war between Persian ruler and rajput kind with a twist in the story.
3 days in a row I cannot get a ticket to this film. arrgh....Trying again tomorrow!
this Film is on a poem which known by most of the Indians

And he went for war with him.. And during the battle king rajput dies and queen Padmavathi sacrifice her life by burning herself.. Queen Padmavathi is considered as a role model for Indian woman who respect thier husband a lot give importance to pure martial relationship.

padmavati is the name of the lead actress in the movie....its actually about her...fighting a battle
I would suggest you to read out the history about Queen 'Padmavati' on WiKi
its history not a fiction..
It is a part of our history. It describes the invasio of Chitor Fort by the Turkish-Muslim Allauddin Khalji.

No. The one looking in the mirrors was the bad guy. And the one covered with the power was also the bad guy.
Padmavati is a fictional character , people do say she was real .. What happned was the villain the kind of India wanted to capture her (the queen Padmavati) as she was married to a hindu rajput king . She killed herself in fire with many women so that she couldn't be captured !
It is based on true events of queen Padmavati of Rajput clan of 18th or 19th century India.

The villain is the real life husband of the heroine
