Good video! I also wanted to add that the word 'palachinta' was borrowed by Hungarians from Romanians, and that exact word is originally a Latin word and also is a cognate word with 'placenta'
There are a few mistakes.
1) The accent on the first syllable developed in Slovak not because of the Hungarian influence because the Czechs also have the accent on the first syllable and they had no Hungarian influence.
2) The word Huncút cannot come into Slovak or Ruthenian from Hungarian because Hungarian had no sound "ts" or "c" as we spell it. The sound "ts" developed in Hungarian after many centuries later and the Hungarians learned the sound from the Slavs. The currently Hungarian town of Miskolc is the Slovak Miškovec ending by "ts". This is a Slovak ending and Hungarians accepted the name from Slovaks. If the name was Hungarian by the origin, it would have no "ts" in it.
3) You are not right about the Slovaks being invited from the west to settle in the Carpathian mountains of Transcarpathia. The Slovaks had the influence on the Eastern Slovakia from the time of the so called Great Moravia when the Slovaks conquered the Eastern Slovakia together with the land between the Danube and the Tisa rivers, where nowadays lies the city of Budapest.
I love this series! I have learned so much! I was REALLY excited to hear you talking about language and where the Rusyns came from, genetically. I've done DNA testing and have submitted my info through both My True Ancestry and Gedmatch. Pretty much almost every calculator I've seen says I am either Ukrainian or Russian. I find that especially interesting considering that you mentioned people from Ukraine moved into the Carpathian mountain areas -- that would really explain it!!! And give further proof that we are indeed Rusyns and not just Slovaks (I do think we do have some Slovak ancestry, too, but it's hard to tell in some instances). WOW!!! So super informative!!! Please keep making these helpful videos! I am really looking forward to the rest of this series! :)

Wow. Interesting. I know I'm 2nd generation American Rusyn from my (father's) baba, but now I'm questioning whether my didi was Slovak or Rusyn. They spoke the same language, and my baba told me she was "Ukrainian Ruthenian". Patiently waiting for the rest of the series...
I thought Hungarians originated from the Ural Mountains,-that’s quite a ways from Central Asia*

Turkish is a turkic language. It has nothing to do with finno-ugric languages. And also, finno-ugric is an obsolete term. The proper term is uralic languages. Of whom there are many, like saami, finnic (finnish, karelian, estonian), ugric (maghiar)
I believe you overstate your assertion that finnic-ugric is obsolete. Uralic is the term that includes samoyed while finnic-uric does not. So from my POV, it's a matter of two schools of thought that differ in their respective language categories.

I’m absolutely mind blown! I grew up in Easter Slovakia, thinking that I am Hungarian, since it was my first language. I literally never heard of Rusyns. I just took a DNA test confirming I am 86% Rusyn. And now I’m learning all this… The schools in Slovakia did not teach us about this. What a shame.

Palacsinca or Palatschinke in Austrian etc comes from Romanian Plăcinta which cimes from Latin Placenta...
And Placenta the body part and part of the female reproductive system and Placenta the cake or pastry have the same root....

In Germam Plazemta (the human female teproductive organ) is also called "Mutterkuchen" tramslated something like a Mothercake into English....

Rusyns is old name of ukrainians
Ukraine was never a country until 1917 when Lenin created it to be a buffer against Germany and if Germany invaded it was their problem. However it did not turn out as expected.
