Robert Fripp has made a lot of music that I have loved, and also a lot of music about which my feelings have been mixed at best (this falls into the first category), but at the end of the day, he stands alone. His musical career has been utterly distinctive. For all he has given us, I am grateful.
I can't reply directly to the comments about the guitar (for some reason), but RF is playing an early 1990s Fernandes Les Paul clone which has been retrofitted with a Roland midi pickup, Fernandes Sustainer pickup and a Kahler vibrato bridge. It's his primary soundscaping guitar.
In this music there floats a kind of mist suitable for dreams and gentle drifts. A climate of rediscovered peace that we sometimes feel without knowing exactly why during certain summer nights! these artists build a discourse of interiority, of breathing, which knows how to make room for silence.
Reminiscent of some of the symphonic, melodic meanderings on early King Crimson albums. Anything that involves Robert Fripp and a flute, violin or mellotron makes for a magical union.
Being stuck in middle America, I FINALLY got to see him. Flew out to San Francisco for the King Crimson concert last year. It was AWESOME. Everything he does is great.
Fripp is one of the most creative musician/ guitarist of the prog rock genre. The flutist also is very good, creative and has a very good edge to his sound, (being a fellow flutist). Thanks for posting this!
Perfect pairing. It *is* melting and full of emotion. RF seems comfortable and is certainly playing well. He is a great master of harmonic composition with perfect rhythm. Love the mezzo flute. -JCK
It has been 35 years ( with a few "vacations !" ), since I have been a Fripp/ KC audient. I think the King Crimson listening experience continues to affect me positively.
I am so grateful to have seen Robert Fripp twice while he performed in King Crimson. I am in awe of this gentleman's artistry. Thanks for sharing this vid.
I have been blessed to see him three times, twice in King Crimson. He is a once in a lifetime talent. He brings a thoughtfulness and purpose to music that few attempt.
I'm a lifelong Fripp fan, but have found much of his music (with Crimson & otherwise) made during the 1990s and Oughts to be just too dark and clinical sounding for my liking . BUT, this is beautiful, warm, human and above all *engaging* music. I'll be seeking out more.
fabrikk60 kinda late for ur comment but yes! KC mainly is technical music. Fripp solo and more importantly, Theo Travis, are both REAL musicians to date.
Much is said of the genius of Fripp and I totally agree, Theo brought me to this page. I wanted to see what he was up to. I say Bravo Theo!!! Fripp is not bad either (giggles). We are blessed to have such amazing talent enrich our lives.
OK. I mean "enviromental music", probably created by Fripp & Eno, as a high-class continuity of Muzac´s. Soundscape ambient... was another of Eno`s kinda-inventions
Personally at this stage (and time) in his life, i really think this is where Fripp belongs creatively. It's probably among my favorite stuff of his and I haven't really found anything in Crimson for many years IMHO. Plus I was already aware of Theo Travis thru his "Cipher" duo which I think is incredible and Travis is really an incredibly talented guy. Just look at the long list of musicians who want him to play with them...
praise my lord for allowing me to hear this

" but at the end of the day, he stands alone. "
...or, more likely, sits alone.
One of my fabourite records
Fripp is amazing. Antyone he plays with is amazing. Eno, Bowie, etc. Flutist. Levin, Bruford, KC, Belew. Robert we follow you since 80s sir. Love
Dont forget wonderful mr Sylvian.
Fripp doesn't make music, he makes Magic!
I'm SO glad Fripp has 'come out from the shadows'. I love watching him create. This is beautiful.
Listening to Fripp since late 60s when I was a Wee Lad. Such a talent and fantastic person. love Robert! From Syr
When colors become life you are not a musician but a God opening minds
The setting seems entirely appropriate. This is clearly sacred music.
It reminds me of Rothko.
Rothko? I'm sort of out of the loop. Most loops anyway.
Maybe because Fripp used his paintings as album covers throughout the 1990s?

Yeah man the midi pick up allows so many many sounds 🇬🇧🎧💚
The amazing, one-off genius that is Robert Fripp

Just Beautiful.

Amen to all that!
Fripp is by far the greatest prog musician ever!
Being stuck in middle America, I FINALLY got to see him. Flew out to San Francisco for the King Crimson concert last year. It was AWESOME. Everything he does is great.
Fripp very rarely disappoints! A pure genius!
Just gorgeous. ❤

He is even better on saxophone, and recently recorded an album on doduk- an Armenian reed.
Perfect pairing. It *is* melting and full of emotion.

Love the mezzo flute.

music of the Spheres... Great Fripp.. God bless him...

Robert used to play guitar at an incredible speed. Exotic scales. And he did create the "environments". Environments are demodeé. Fripp is a Gentleman
what do you mean by environments?
LinkBulletBill I think he means the soundscape ambient type music.
351cleavland well didn't many composers did that before, such as Debussy?
OK. I mean "enviromental music", probably created by Fripp & Eno, as a high-class continuity of Muzac´s. Soundscape ambient... was another of Eno`s kinda-inventions
No. Debussy didn`t use electronic modules for making sounds. Maybe Stockhausen...
Bloody brilliant
My first experience with this artist. I love the work! So beautiful, such talent!
if you close your eyes while you're listening to it you will never wake up.....true story
Fantastic stuff. Never tire of it. Used to have many Fripps' landscapes- now I got the stimulus to recover those CDs and gonna get "follow" ASAP!
I love when Robert displays his gentle side. A great artist.
Great work Mr. Travis, I have listened to some live of yours in 2009 and there was a Moonchild, which is amazingly beautiful.
Robert Fripp Como siempre reinventandose.
when I get to heaven, this is what I want to hear...
Master Fripp . The best of the best .
I saw them in Barcelona - now I'm going to see KC for the first time , with Magma on July 2
No conoce otra. Y ésto no es música, ésto es soberbia.
Breathtaking as usual.
MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE!
ARTist could not retire.
Beautiful music , out of words ...
The most beautiful tunes I ever heard from "The Stool" - Best wishes from Germany!
I love the architecture! The stain glass! I love the wi d instrument! I love music!
Amazing transcendence with Robert Fripp atmosphere.
This is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing this most yummy piece of music.
The work of Mr.Fripp and Mr.Travis usualy gives us a new King Crimson Projekct...Hopefully this one gives us one :)
💜AWESOME AND BEAUTIFUL
I think enough has been said about the quality of the music. But what about Fripp blowing his fingers and then giving Travis this cheeky look, hm?
i like that one part, where the flute dude goes doot DooT DOoOT and the weird guitar guy makes that haaarrrmmmm sound.....i like that part
Excellently beautiful.

Great Robert!!!!
Takes the breath away -
Where Fripp leads I will follow.
