When you have a shade tree do you trim to a five year cycle or do you remove only what is necessary according to ANSI standards? If initial contact does not happen do you make contact with the owner prior to actually trimming the tree. If they are not home do you leave a tag on the door as a secondary attempt to contact the property owner prior to trimming? Do your crews have ISA certified personnel on the crew?
Usually 15 feet on either side maybe can negotiate but if it's trouble at 3 am .. slash and hack leave the brush , tire tracks you were warned . I got outta bed to go back to my work truck (I hope someone else answers the phone) blast to you in a ragging thunderstorms or hurricane so the linemen can restore power to the other 1000000 homes down line
@@paulross8815 So do you trim then making the tree lop sided basically cutting back to the trunk or do you try to keep the tree balanced only trimming as necessary. I fail to see the reasoning to do extreme pruning on the sides but yet leave large girth limbs above and over hanging the lines to remain.
@@gary24752 I try and stay away from side walk clearance..I was brought up ..Trim the branches that are going towards the lines..and over hang where required..I'm from old school of drop crotch to lateral trimming ..which is a round over or ..L ..cut.today..v cut and .L.
Yup i aint touching those branches il just wait and let em take care of it. Lil limbs but they look like that limb that just got fried on the line and its close to em.
PGE seems to contract Asplundh Tree Experts to do the pruning away from the overhead power lines. They just came down my street and, boy, am I disappointed at the results. I am going to guess that you selected the 'low bidder' and got a bunch of yahoos who are just butchering street trees on your behalf. There is a katsura and a wine-leaf sycamore maple at the street in front of my home; they now both look raped. The maple has at least three major limbs which have been butchered back to bad stub cuts. So far as I can tell, they are just assuring that the trees will sucker like mad, assuring that they will need to be badly pruned again in a couple of years. A decent arborist could have pruned these trees so that they were less of a risk to the lines WITHOUT raping the trees with abominable arbor care. Asplundh should NOT be allowed to handle contracts for this kind of work, they are utterly unprofessional. When I pointed out the stub cuts, the worker lied to me about having to remove rotten limbs...but there were no such limbs. The two trees had been professionally pruned within the past eighteen months. By arborists who cared about trees.
I blame the International Society of Arboriculture entirely for how power companies approach tree trimming and the Publilc Service Commision for not setting down standards that the power companies have to adhere to when trimming ornamental trees. I fully understand that trees need to be trimmed but not direct prunning which in most cases is very extreme to the point of making the tree unbalanced and god awful ugly.
They completely destroyed our backyard several years ago. No one came to the front door to let us know they would be back there. We just heard them hacking away at our beauties. I cried when I saw the results. It looked like a hurricane came through. Now I hear they are coming back, just when the scars from the last assault are healing. This is a terrible program. They absolutely DO NOT care about trees or homeowners' yards and privacy.
