There’s plenty of fish species in Singapore, you can try reservoirs for peacock bass. They’re relatively easy to catch! Just hook on 2.2-2.5inch plastics 3-7g jigheads / weedless hooks and you’re good to go ☺️

I found the catch rate at D'Best to be near zero. They don't stock their pond properly, and only "influencers" and unlimited pass holders actually stand a chance to catch anything. When I went, the staff even warned me that my catch is dependent on my "skill level". They effectively knew my catch rate would be near zero, and they were pre-empting me to accept empty hands lol! Come to think of it, the pond is static, you'll only catch whatever they release. They have full control on your catch rate, and most of the time they'll take your entrance fee and bait money and give back as little as they possibly can. The pond is dirty, I always see dead fish (sea bass and small bait fish), and the unlimited pass old timers can be unpleasant, constantly smoking, drinking and spewing profanity-laced dialect. Not family friendly at all. Just go to a public place to fish, at least then it's between you and mother nature, not part of a business model. D'Scam is NOT RECOMMENDED.

No one can control who enters or participates in the pond. And yes, it will remain static, you can’t expect fish to thrive there like they do in the Great Barrier Reef. There are many factors involved in landing fish, and I don’t believe Dbest has “FULL control over my catch rate.”
I’ve been there on nights when they didn’t release any fish, yet I still managed to land 2-3 fish in the Pro Pond using Zman rubber lures and jigheads. I was particularly “lucky” one night when I foul-hooked a mangrove jack on its head with an ajing hook. Ultimately, it’s all about hard work and experimenting with what works and what doesn’t. I even know some members of my community who have landed 20-40 fish in a single 3hr visit. When you went, it might just have been that the fish weren’t hungry or weren’t feeding.
I don’t have any experience with the main pond, so I can only speak about my time at the Pro Pond (a smaller space). That said, I do agree with some of your points, particularly about the cleanliness. I’ve noticed dead fish floating in the water as well, and the workers don’t seem to clear them out quickly enough.
