I cane out at 17 and lost my family, moved to the other side of the World, and lost established friends.
AIDS took away a lover and everybody I knew around age 30.
Now I'm 73, and in aged care, and have to pretend to be straight to avoid violence.
That isn't a life anyone would choose.
My favorite male cousin was discharged from the Navy shortly after he sailed home on the KENNEDY. It was the early 90s and my first time seeing Whitney Houston perform for the troops. He’s now a 64 year old hermit. Always been in my mind that he was discharged because of his gay sexuality. It hurts me to this day because depression has him now.

My spouse is 69 and I'm 63yrs old so growing up in the 60s and 70s was incredibly hard not truly able to be your full self was tough. Paul and I will be together 24yrs next month and I love my spouse more today. God Bless you both and Thank You for sharing your stories with us!
