Very moving take on the subject of war. I have seen all three versions of the film in my life and I enjoy each of them for different reasons. The original film is my favorite. Maybe it is the black and white that make it seem like a horror film, maybe it is because I was amazed at the brutality portrayed in a film made in 1929/1930 that captivated me. I grew up watching all the WWII films made in the 40's and 50's that sanitized the violence. Then I saw the original All Quiet on the Western Front when I was around 20 and was amazed by the brutality on film, the message, and the heart and soul put into the production. I was pretty anti-war for the next four years and then 9/11 occurred and I was swept up in the bullshit. All the killing and dying that occurred during the GWOT and I do not think that the world is safer or more free by any stretch of the imagination. I am pretty convinced that we will never learn the lessons of war and, unfortunately today we are facing the possibility of another world war that nobody wants...and yet I feel that it is inevitable.
Thank you for for your thought-provoking take on the subject as well as these films in particular. You have earned a new subscriber today. Godspeed.

I am delighted that you liked it.
      That means a lot.
      Two quick questions:
      * How did you find it?
      * Did you learn anything new?
